~ CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN ~
Siddhant Bhardwaj wasn't an event they were expecting to happen early in the morning. On hearing his spine-tingling voice, something inside the two just went BOOM! The duo were stunned beyond their wits to find the monster so early in the office!
"Arre yaar, why did this fellow come in so early today?" Dhruv mumbled nervously through pursed lips whilst keeping a straight face. One would feel that the poor guy wanted to crawl into the filing cabinet and just hide there for eternity!
"I told you so..." Came Roli's hushed reply. She hardly moved her lips. Her eyes were wide and glassy as she gawked at the monstrous creature in front of them.
Siddhant glowered at the both of them questioningly, his jaw grew tighter by the second. "If you guys have got something to say, you better say it out loud!" he demanded sternly. "Dhruv, what are you doing in here?"
"I... had... some... work to finish," replied Dhruv as he grew increasingly fidgety.
"Work." Siddhant stated in an "I know what you're really up to" tone and threw a quick glance at the bunch of filing documents clutched in Dhruv's hand. "What work?"
"Umm..." Dhruv's grip on the papers tightened as he realized that Siddhant could have already figured out the truth by now. "Umm... V-Visas!"
"Visas?" Siddhant raised his eyebrows and lowered his head whilst glaring at Dhruv. "What visas?"
"For the... for Faulkner's clients..." The minute Dhruv uttered those words, he knew that he shouldn't have. Faulkner's clients had come and gone long back. And Siddhant knew that!
"Achcha," Siddhant had a smirk on his face, "I want to see those visas when you're done with them. Cool?"
Dhruv was dumbstruck with terror. From the nasty smug on Siddhant's face, he knew that there was a surprise party planned for him today.
"Is that cool with you Dhruv?" Siddhant repeated more firmly.
"Y-yes," Dhruv gulped a huge ball down his throat. "Yes Siddhant." I'm so screwed!
Though Siddhant had tried his best to avoid looking at Roli throughout the confrontation, his eyes were involuntarily on her once again. And the minute he set eyes on her innocent goggling face, a huge surge of something started pulsing through his veins. He was uncomfortable with this feeling. No, it wasn't anger. Rather, it was that throbbing feeling one gets throughout the body on bumping into someone whom you always wanted to have in close quarters.
Confused and upset with this feeling, Siddhant's guilty eyes quickly withdrew from her puzzled ones. Without another word or glance, he swept off to his cabin.
As soon as Siddhant cleared off, Dhruv's rigid shoulders instantly dropped loosely by his sides. Whew!
"I told you not to!" Roli hissed at Dhruv through clenched teeth, "Now see what happened!"
"Arre, I didn't think that this creature will turn up so early!" he protested quietly. "Usually he doesn't come in like this!"
"I've known him for hardly a day," replied Roli, "but I knew that he would pop in."
"Really?"
"Yup," answered Roli, "he's very dedicated and would do anything in his control to achieve his targets."
"What?" Dhruv could not believe his ears. Roli was actually pointing out the good in Siddhant. "You can't be serious." He let out a soft chuckle of disbelief. There was nothing good in him to be pointed out at all! And even if there was, Dhruv didn't want to point it out. He loathed him to the core!
"I am serious," replied Roli with a very grim expression, "he is dedicated. In torturing me. And he'd do anything to achieve his sadistic targets. Even if that meant working overtime."
Taken aback by Roli's startling theory, Dhruv snickered quietly and slapped a high-five onto her open hand. "Okay, you caught me. Didn't see that coming."
"You do one thing," Roli held Dhruv's shoulder and gently attempted to shove him out of the room, "you'd better leave now. Or else you're going to get screwed to glory by the monster. As it is, you'd just dug your own grave a while back, Remember?"
"But the filing..." Dhruv tried to resist Roli's attempts to push him out.
"What sounds scarier?" asked Roli, "the filing or the visas?"
"Visas!" That very word gave Dhruv a heart attack. "How in the hell am I going to make visas now? And for whom?"
"You'd better figure that out then!" said Roli and continued to nudge him out.

Meanwhile, Siddhant was in the pantry preparing himself a mug of his usual favourite black coffee. He dunked in a generous amount of sugar and coffee powder and kept stirring it. But fleeting flashbacks of the horrifying and embarrassing coffee scald incident made him pause mid-way.
Should I take this to my cabin? What if it happens again? The knocking over stuff? But I really REALY need a good dose of strong black coffee. I can't imagine skipping this just because of one clumsy oaf.
********************
After much debate, Siddhant finally made up his mind and decided to take the risk. He stood a foot away from the closed department door with the steaming mug of coffee in his hand.
Looks like the coast is clear.
He quietly let the door swing open to its full capacity whilst he waited outside and made sure that it was safe for him to go inside. He could hear Dhruv and Roli's voices floating out from the filing room.
Thank God, she's still inside. It's safe to go in now.
Inspired with this confidence, he took a deep breath and shuffled in with slow and cautious steps, hoping and praying that the nightmare called Roli wouldn't pop up and scare the living lights out of him!
*****************
"Darn it," Roli gaped irritably at the empty stapler once again. "Pins are over. Not again."
"I'll go and get some," Dhruv offered.
"No need yaar, I'll go and get it... I won't take long" Saying this, an unwary Roli bolted out through the door and plunged right into Siddhant and his beloved coffee cup.

~ CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT ~
"Awooofffarrrghhh! Dammit!" Siddhant stumbled back as the sizzling coffee swooshed down the front of his shirt, singeing his chest and stomach in the process.
Roli struggled to push out the words "I'm sorry," but she had her breath stuck in her throat.
The commotion brought Dhruv bolting out of the filing room. "What happened Rolll...shit..."
Siddhant heaved furiously in tremendous anger and pain. He was putting up a big fight to keep his growing rage at bay but it didn't seem to be working. "What is wrong with you?" he growled at Roli like an angry dog.
"I'm sorry," she whimpered feebly and bit her lip.
"Are you blind?" he snarled in a deep voice.
"No..." Roli cringed at his mounting fury. His face was distorted into an ugly scowl. It almost looked as if he could swallow her up.
"Then? Are you deaf?" His jaw throbbed dangerously, threatening to pop if he failed to unclench his teeth.
"No... I'm sorry... I didn't..."
"SHUT UP! Just shut up!" Siddhant's pent up fury hit and withdrew like a devastating wave. Roli flinched at the threatening finger which he had right in her face.
Dhruv was stuck like a lamp post. He so badly wanted to intervene and pull her away from the wrath of "The Siddhant Bhardwaj" but he couldn't move a muscle.
"You did it on purpose! I know!" Siddhant hissed through clenched teeth.
"What?" It was shock after shock for the shaken girl. She couldn't believe that she was being accused for plotting against him! "I didn't... why would I do som..."
"You're not getting away that easily! You! Are going to be. Royally. F****d!"
Roli's jaw was as wide open as her eyes were. "What? For the?"
"And I mean literally!!!" Siddhant was senseless now. From the stuff that he was spitting out, it was obvious that the censor board of his brains had malfunctioned.
"If that's what you want to do then hear this!!" She couldn't handle her flaring temper any longer. She didn't want to either! "I did it on purpose! Hear me? On purpose! Happy now?"
"What?!?" He wasn't expecting this. Her guts to retaliate almost instantly doused out his raging fire.
"What's the matter? Didn't you hear me well? I said that I did it on purpose! All this while, I had been waiting for you in that corner. In that corner! Just waiting for you to show up so that I can pounce on you and BAKE up your teeny-weeny thingy! So there! Do what you must!"
This was an unbelievable shocker for Siddhant. He waved his finger at her, determined to unleash hell, but the words got jammed in his throat and there was nothing he could do or say other than clench his lips in utter failure. It was tough for him, but he finally admitted the fact at least to himself. He didn't have anything to say! Her virtual slap had simply rendered him speechless. Too proud to accept his defeat, he simply tore off to his cabin without another word.
Convinced that the coast was clear, Dhruv finally uprooted himself and moved towards Roli. He had a huge grin plastered on his face as he began in a low, hushed voice. "Wah Ustaad ! Wah!" He couldn't believe what he just saw and heard. For the first time in his tenure, someone actually dared to stand up to the monster. "What a shot yaar! Did you see the look on his face? He didn't have anything to say! You just made my wildest fantasy come trueee! I love youuu yaar!"
Dhruv gave Roli's cheeks a quick, gentle pull. He was bubbling with excitement.
"What an idiot!" Roli hissed irritably, "did you even hear the kind of words he was using? Royally fu..." The very thought of those words made Roli furious! "I seriously hate him now!!"
"Whatever!" Dhruv was too happy to think straight. He felt like all the slaps and punches he had deposited for Siddhant in his grudge bank had just been withdrawn with interest! "But today we're going to have a party! My treat!"
******************
With each passing minute, the meat on his chest and stomach was getting broiled from the steaming coffee on his shirt. He was literally blind in pain as he carelessly latched up his cabin door and pulled his shirt off to reveal a snugly fitting dark vest. (Oops. Look carefully Siddhant. You haven't locked the door! You only thought you did.)
He hissed in agony, yanked the vest off his body and threw it aside. "Dammit... damn! Damn! Shit! Shit!" Censorship no longer existed. He didn't care either. All what he wanted was a cup of coffee... without paying a heavy price!
He tugged out a large ply of tissues from the box, dampened it with a little cold water from his bottle and dabbed at his torso. The relief was instant. And soothing! The relentless burning which was eating him away a while ago began to subside.
*********************
Roli was in a fix as she held a couple of documents in her hands. The files in which they had to go were in Siddhant's cabin! She didn't think that she had to face him again that soon! I shouldn't have said all that stuff before! Now this guy will be after my blood! Eesh!
She moved out of the filing room and found Dhruv at his seat, engaged on an important phone call. Wish he was free, he could have helped me out. But looks like I'll have to do it myself. Can't believe that I have to see his disgusting face again! Argghh!
She took a long and deep breath before gathering her courage and marching off to his cabin. Whether he likes it or not, I have to get those files and finish my job.
Finding the door to his cabin closed didn't perturb her. She had noticed him do that several times before, sometimes for no particular reason at all. Usually people close the door to do or say something confidential. But this guy is weird. He shuts it almost every time. I wonder what he does behind that closed door. Play with himself?
Following basic etiquettes which she had picked up from childhood, Roli knocked on the door twice before quietly opening it. The sight which met her eyes made her guts clench tightly. Lost in ecstasy, Siddhant was standing half bare in his trousers with his back towards her. And he seemed to be playing with his nipples!
