It's rare that one director able to churn out 2 wonderful films back to back in a span of just 2 months. BB was very good 3.25/5 but Phantom is just brilliant 4/5. The 2 best films of 2015 in my opinion. I, for one, ain't missing a Kabir Khan film in future.
If not him, who do you think deserves the award more?

Lot of people liked "Piku" and the director already won an award in Australia for that movie.
Kya pata, usi ko mil jaye.

But I have to agree with you. For this year, it has to be Kabir and Kabir only. 2 amazing movies in one year.

I hope he wins.👍🏼

100%!
His films are both entertaining and have a strong message in them. Both BB and now Phantom are strongly pro-India movies. Directors like him should be lauded and awarded for making films with nationalistic sentiments.

No matter what some people say, fact is that Phantom is the only film that has the courage to say the truth as it was. It might be a work of fiction, but the sentiment behind the film is spot-on. There is nothing jingoistic about Phantom. It talks about eliminating terrorism, especially one that goes on in the name of a particular religion.

Before jumping their guns and trashing the actors, the movie and the country, some people should have had the sense to watch the movie and then reserve their judgement.

Kabir Khan should most definitely get a NA for Phantom.

I agree Phantom is the film of the year. Kabir deserves all awards even the NA.

No, i dont think so...

I found Phantom to be a decent thriller, nothing there to rave about. As far as BB goes, I loved the film... But it was more of a wholesome entertainer than a technically supreme film.

From all the films I have watched so far, Piku was the best. And if I had to give the award to someone right now I would probably give it to Shoojit..(I havent seen some other critically acclaimed movies like masaan)

And it doesnt really matter how many average to good films a director churns out in one year... The award for best director is given for one particular film which is considered to be best directed..

They still might give the award to Kabir Khan though. I would personally consider it to be a step-back for bolly awards. For years the main awards have always gone to popular stuff of average quality, while "critics awards" have been invented as a consolation prize for the actual brilliant sh*t..

I think its high time they start awarding films and actors solely based on quality... and stop inventing "critics category" just so that they can have the main awards appease the egos of a-listers and blockbusters.

I know this is a long rant...But as a bolly fan I find the current situation of BW awards to be endlessly frustrating..

I love good commercial cinema, but BO revenues should be a big enough reward for them. Leave the awards for the truly deserving ones.

Shoojit Sircar will get the best director this year. There is no important person around who has not praised him or the film.

He made a near flawless and confident film.

Lol everybody forgot TWMR director? The biggest unexpected hit of the year. Also Baby's director. Definitely better than Piku.
