Estab'ing new character unfair to cadets?

Whenever a new character has to be established in lrl in season 2, what they show is all the cadets talking about him, some impressed, some not sure yet, all only discussing him. They did this with Abhimanyu's introduction, they did it with Gunny (?) today. Normally this is ok, this is generally how characters get established on tv. But the problem is this: in establishing these new characters, these cadets are always undermined, shown as less heroic, in awe of these new people, unable to handle situations on their own etc etc. Then these heroic characters suddenly vanish and the cadets have to then carry the burden of the show on their shoulders. For example, Ali was shown as having become firm and assertive, having come into his own. This was established when he bashed up those goons who teased Naina's mom, then when he comes to the detention centre and Major Bhargav realises that he has changed and then in the 'through the screen' encounter with Major Bhargav, where he stares him down. But today, to establish Ankur Nayyar's superiority, they undercut Ali's character completely, showing him again as fumbling and indecisive, easily impressed. The character therefore cannot remain consistent, nor is there a growth. Why be so unfair to the cadets, especially when you need to keep going back to them?

hmm..no acutally, i dont agree...infact today i thought ali and yudi were quite cool in figuring out the place, getting through the guard...yes, they are developing and growing and coming into their own; they'd have never attempted this in season 1....but i think also, that there may be some ppl who can be awed...and rajveer, gunny...seem like them to the cadets...

so i dont see that its being unfair to the cadets...i thought they were pretty cool today...sure, "gunny" impressed me..thats called scope for improvement for the cadets, not undermining their skills..

anyway, thats my opinion...interesting thought you brought about though.

Hmmm... well, i havent seen season 1 so my sense of growth comes only from season 2, where i keep seeing continuity jerks. Perhaps these cadets have grown a lot from season one. Also, i dont know how Capt Rajveer was introduced, so cannot speak about him.
Anyway, thanks for posting.

Nah... Our cadets yes are brave, very brave.... Ali to situation se escape ka matter soch hi raha tha... Our gunny bhai came suddenly to help him..... Me too was surprised at his entry , came stealthily and went stealthily......

There are still young, please bear that in mind.... Jitna bhi courage dhikayenge they need someone with more experience, more tactics which they could learn and of course our cadets are the one who will implement it though 😛

i agree wid u whynotty. the mentors the captains r always advising the students and telling we have already been what u r. and then they have shown raj and abhi and naveen as extremely smart and who know everything from girls to guns - the cadets have always been made to look stupid and immature in front of them and i have always hated it. especially when it comes to naina's character which is supposed to be a powerful one. the new guy ankur is an action hero so the stunts i guess. but capt raj entry in season one was totally different. he never performed any stunts but gave powerful dialogues. his abilities were revealed gradually as the cadets always undermined him. but he always inspired the cadets. rajveer always used to play it low till the character of huda started challenging him and of course raj rose up to it and won and everyone was impressed. abhi on the other hand - u know knight in shining armour to rescue the princess..... do i need to say the rest whynotty? 😳
anyways finally it comes down to one point that is rite now the serial is incomplete without a hero. i agree wid sooperfan to some extent that during emergencies these 6 cadets r really brilliant but then such moments r temporary. the characters have not shown positive growth. there is always someone to help them out. what surprises me is that the senior officers r just few years elder to them and are always calling them bacche and treating them like one. the cadets need to grow up.
u need a hero but don't make them larger than life - especially in an army based serial. what is the point - finally they all end up like naveen and raj which is pathetic.

well..rajveer being awed was totally different...like you said it was very gradual. His was very warm and spoke a lot, was a lot more enderaing, funny...and they there would be these sooper cool action scenes. im glad they have shown gunny totally different in a way...very aloof, very quiet, and only letting his actions speak...rajveer was like their friend, mentor, hero..gunny is like someone u say wow to...

and i dont think there is anything wrong in these "heros" who the cadets look up to...coz they arent always the damsels or dudes in distress...many times its the other way round.
