So even though Salman has a very tight schedule for finishing the shooting of his Diwali release Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, he could not refuse Ram Charan's invitation to come and be a part of his father's 60th birthday celebrations.
Salman had to shoot his introduction song of his film on Sunday morning but he made it a point to take a chartered flight to be with his friend Chiru garu, as he calls him, to be with him for his special day. Excerpts from an exclusive conversation with Salman:
I first met Chiru garu on a Thumbs Up shoot many years back. And we just got on. We again met after six months when we did something else together. One night he was at home, he met dad and we were chilling together. He was staying at a hotel. I said to him, 'Where are you going, Chiru garu? Come sleep in the bedroom.' He said, 'You are right, it will take me a lot of time to go to the hotel. I will sleep here on the couch.' Can you imagine, he is such an amazing person. So for him, I will do anything whenever he wants me to. We bought the rights of his film Stalin from him, which we re-made into Jai Ho. I love the way he dances and how he is as a man. I just think he is a rockstar. His son is Ram Charan and I call him Ram.
He is. He is so graceful and he has so much of lachak in him. He can not only dance, but what an actor and what action he does.
The fact that he is an honest man, clean man and a family man. He has a real life hero quality which is why he is a hero on screen.
