Over the weekend, Neena Gupta was spotted at the Gold Awards in Mauritius with a mystery man by her side. Onlookers insist the twosome were joined at the hip through the weekend, and it wasn't long before tongues began wagging about Gupta's latest link-up.
Neena, who has always lived life on her own terms, has never believed in societal norms. She has a daughter (Masaba) out of wedlock with legendary West Indies cricketer Vivian Richards. So why is she keeping this new man under wraps?
"There is nothing to hide," says Neena. "I am not married to him, nor is he the new man in my life. All I can say is that he is a real good friend and companion."
Family friends
It is learnt that Neena's 'good friend' is New Delhi-based Vivek, and is not connected to the entertainment world. "He has nothing to do with television. In fact, I know him through his sister, who is an equally good friend. In fact, our families know each other extremely well," she says candidly.
Neena denies that she is married to Vivek or that wedding bells will ring for them in the near future. "He accompanied me to Mauritius as a friend, but because he is male, people are talking about us," she says.
It is learnt that Vivek is married, and that's the reason why Neena doesn't want to divulge his full name and other details. The actress says that she has no plans of relocating to Delhi. "I keep visiting Delhi, not only because of Vivek but because my brother lives there. Delhi is my hometown. But now, Masaba is studying fashion design at SNDT (Santa Cruz), so there's no way I can move out of Mumbai. My daughter and my father are all here."
On the acting front, Neena points out that her character Manno bhabhi in the Zee soap Saat Phere will be missing for a while. At the same time, she will feature in a new show for Filmy called Bedi Chalayi Leh Jigar Se Piya. On the B-Town front, she features in Satish Kaushik's Tere Sang.
