He walked out to the kitchen where his breakfast was all laid out for him and his mother asked him to eat quickly as she started to head out. Before she could walk out, she was stopped as he looked at everything in front of him and without thinking...
"Maa, this is non-veg. Not one vegetarian dish so what will Ishita eat?" he looked at his mother who had a wide smile on her face while he looked at her confused for a moment until he realized. Ishita had already eaten before and left. He avoided eye contact with his mom and started to eat while she laughed walking out of the house...
Why was it so hard to not think about her? He thought to himself. Every single thing in this house would somehow remind him of her and it wasn't helping him trying to go 2 days without her. He finished breakfast and was about to head out when he went back to their room to pick up a file. Opening their wardrobe, he looked for his file and while moving aside clothes making a mess of the place, his hand picked up that red saree of hers.
Stopping for a moment he recalled the day she had worn this saree...or more like the day he got her to wear this saree. She had been so mad at him! He chuckled to himself remembering how much hard work it took to get forgiveness from her for one mistake, for one half-truth.
But no matter what this red saree was one good thing that came out of it all. He always thought she was beautiful right from the very first day he saw her, but that look of hers was just something else. It was the first time she had looked...hot. She was always attractive, this took it a notch higher. Even the mere thought of her dressing up like she had that day took him to his dreamland.
She just didn't know what a gorgeous woman she was. It hurt to know such a beauty like her didn't know how much she affected him. She didn't know how much self-control it took him to give her the time and space she needed. It was so disappointing whenever she would back off and he would need to do the same. He didn't mind doing this since her needs were priority, but he couldn't hope for her to overcome all this soon so they could both finally come together. A wide grin and blush appeared on his face as he thought about them finally closing any distance left between them.
He was brought out of his thoughts by the ringing of his phone. He shook his head at he found himself hoping it was her call. Unfortunately it was from his office that made him leave right away. As he was leaving, that's when he realize this woman was all over his thoughts, whether it was what she did or how she looked, it was all her...

On the other hand, Ishita reached the Iyer house, her home...or her previous home now. As she picked up Ruhi who was familiar with the place and seemed happy for now, she took slow steps into the house. She didn't know why she started to get emotional as she stood outside the door.
It was just over a month back when this was her home and she was Ishita Iyer. She had cried while leaving this home and now was crying while coming to this same house. Many questions started to run through her head. Was her room still the same? Did Amma and Appa even go into her room? Did they change anything at all? Maybe even a small change that didn't seem to matter, like she remembered Amma complaining about the microwave, would they have changed it? She was brought out of her thoughts as he mother came tapped her shoulder asking her to get inside.
As she walked in, it was so familiar yet so new to her. She wondered if she was the only one who felt like this. She knew where everything was and all around the house, but nowadays the Bhalla house...the Mumbai Bhalla apartment was her home to her. She started to remember the first time she had entered that house with Raman and that's when it hit her. She was always like this with Raman. The mere thought of not being with him would dampen her mood. When he had announced his trip to Mumbai, she had been so upset just like this morning. Except something has just changed this time around. It make her cry more, it felt longer now, and it just hurt more...
Thinking about him, she knew he would call up soon to ask if they had reached and so she pulled out her phone as she sat down on her favourite spot in the house, the divan near the window. She tried to text him when Ruhi spotted her picture on the wallpaper and amused by the small device, she reached out to it and grab it. Trying to talk Ruhi out of it by pointing out other things in the house, she ended up sending him a text that consisted of random letters...
"woifrhkfn"
"What is that? A secret code?" she read seconds later and calmed Ruhi by telling her this was Raman's message. But Ruhi refused to settle down and Mrs. Iyer noticed the same. She opened her arms to Ruhi who was mas at her mom for not giving her the phone, so she hopped into her grandmother's arms without a thought. As she was taken away to play with her grandparents, Ishita finally smiled getting a chance to talk to him.
"Ask your princess, her secret message for you. Probably about me not giving her the phone."
"That's your daughter right there!"
"Mine when she's naughty and yours when she's sweet?! But anyways I wanted to say we've reached and all three of us are fine! Are you at work?"
"That's good. I am on my way to office."
"Don't text while driving!"
"I have the driver."
"Good, breakfast?"
"Done. How's Ruhi doing though? Is she adjusting or bothering you?"
"She's fine so far, but then we just came. Hope she likes Amma and Appa."
"She will, it's just Mihika that gets on her nerves."
There was silence. For a few minutes, no one even typed anything. They weren't even on call, but this silence was being awkward for both of them. Both were waiting for the other to say something even though they both know what they wanted to say. So she tried to start a conversation again...
"Raman..." he smiled reading the text as he remembered how she usually called him. This time he imagine her calling him in the tone she usually talking when annoyed with him or more with his use of hmmm...
"I'm imagining you saying that to me. You know I love it when you say my name like that."
"Really? I love it when you say Ishita. Everyone calls me Ishu, but Ishita is better coming from you."
And silence filled in once again. Both stared at their phone screens with tears burning the corners of their eyes. They both couldn't say it, but couldn't deny it either. It had been almost 2 hours, but they both were still acting like they were in different countries. And they didn't want this conversation to end nor did they want to speak up. After a few moments, he couldn't take the quietness and finally admitted...
"Miss you already..." A lone tear escaped her eye as she read his message that conveyed the feelings they both shared. She wiped off her tears as her mother came to her and handed her some water. She took the glass and asked for Ruhi to which she saw the infant busy with her grandfather. She smiled as Ruhi had grabbed Appa's glasses and he tried coax the child to give them back to him. As her Amma went to help him, Ishita looked back at her phone.
She had Amma, Appa, and Ruhi to cheer her up like they just did now. But he...he was right. Since they all left, he would be so lonely. Who was there to make him smile right now? She longed to see him once so she could wipe the tears on his eyes right now, but she just couldn't. All she could do was let him know that though they were far away, she still knew what he was going through and wanted him to be happy..or at least try...
"Raman wipe off your tears, I hate them! Just smile..." he forced a smile through his tears as if she would see him right now and like a small child who would thought she would find out, he wiped off his tears and smiled at his phone...
"Done. They're gone. Now you tell me, you're happy there?"
"Yea...it would have been perfect if you were with us."
"I'll try to drop by." A genuine smile appeared on both faces.
"What will you say though?"
"That I miss my Ru and chotu."
"What about their mommy?"
"I'll tell your parents that if you tell them how much you miss your hubby."
"Raman..." And she did it again, he thought to himself. He imagined her now calling his name looking down or away with a pink tint on her cheeks while she bit her lips. A grin appeared on his face as he longed to be with her right now and admitted that to her...
"Ishita! Stop teasing me! It's making me want to come over now!"
"Then come na!"
"After work. Now I'm reaching the office, so I'll talk to you later!"
"Bye...again." The message left a tinge of sadness in both of them, but he wanted her to be happy and so...
"Bye! Give Ru a kiss and ask her to give you one on my behalf!"
"You forgot chotu!"
"She will get a kiss in person when I come to meet you and at the same time you will too. If you know what I mean..."
"Raman... You reached your office right? Now go to work!"
"Okay Ma'am and you please lay down for a bit, you've been up early and running around. Don't forget to rest in your excitement!"
"Yes Sir!" They both put away their phones with faint smiles lingering on their faces as one conversation with the other was enough to make them happy for a while...
~~~~~
Till lunch their days flew by quite fast to their surprise. He was busy with his packed schedule since it was his first day back in his main office and he needed to get quite a bit of work done. In between his meetings, he was completely engrossed in his work like usually so his thoughts didn't wonder to her thoughts much. But whenever he was in his office doing paperwork or making phone calls, he couldn't help but look up once every few minutes to the frames on his desk. One framed picture of her ultrasound while the other one was a candid one of Ishita and Ruhi playing together. He couldn't help, but stop his work to pick up the pictures and sadly smile at them. How was he supposed to stay without these 3, without his happiness, without his life? But then they were happy there, and that's also what he needed and that thought that their happiness was there then he tried to convince himself it was worth the small separation...
Meanwhile she was having a blast with her parents till noon so she wasn't thinking about him as much as before. To her surprise Ruhi was adjusting to her parents quickly and very well. She enjoyed Amma's talks and almost seemed fascinated at the toys that were brought out by her while Appa's glasses were her favourite toy by far and she enjoyed small garden by the balcony he took her on as she loved the colorful plants he had. And while she didn't need to worry about her daughter who had mingled with her parents who were stranger till now for her, she caught up with her mother.
Ishita couldn't stop talking about Mumbai and how much she enjoyed, they caught up on anything they could talk about in 2 hours that still seems less...unless they were talking about him. When asked if she was happy with him, she was left speechless and could only nod her head. She honestly told her mother one thing...
"He's all I need..."
And next thing she knew she was pulled into a tight hug by her mother when she needed it at the very moment. She sighed in relief with a smile cuddling onto her mother as she thought about the many moments she had spent with him. She remembered from their first meeting in her room where she rejected him outright. Suddenly she pulled back from the hug and rushed to her room with the excuse of an important phone call when her mother knew it was nothing of that sort.
Coming into her room, she almost ran to her desk going through the pile of books. She reached near the end of the pile when she found the old magazine where he featured on. She recalled admiring him on the cover before their wedding and found herself doing the same today. She walked over to the chairs they had on during their first meeting and remembered his concern even then. Running her hand over his face on the cover, she smiled sadly as she realized he would always be in her thoughts no matter what...it was all him.
~~~~~
It was when she sat down at the dining table for lunch that she remembered Raman and caught everyone's attention...
Her parents excitedly asked her to come to the table as all her favourite dishes were prepared for her since her Amma was extremely excited to have her at their place again. Though this whole thing was a plan, her parents were genuinely glad to have her and Ruhi over. It was the first time they were seeing their daughter in almost a month and a half while they also worried about
"Oh my! Amma, this is so much! You know if Raman was here then he would have never want to leave after this. He just loves everything here. I know if he was here, then no one else would have gotten a chance to eat. He-
"Missing him Kanna?"
"No Amma, nothing like that. I just got reminded of him."
"Hmm I'm understanding. Instead of remembering the many times I cooked all this for you and when you cooked all this, you're remembering sometime Raman probably ate South Indian."
"No way Amma! Sometime probably? Raman loves South Indian more than we probably do! He should be what he calls a Madrasi!"
"What?! He calls you a Madrasi! Murugan, my poor son-in-law! What did you do to him then?"
"Nothing! What would I do to him?"
"Ishu...is that you saying that? You hated when people kept on calling you Madrasi, Madrasan and all. You would give it right back and don't tell me you didn't say anything to Raman. Because when boys like him used to call you that, you would make sure they never called anyone madrasi again." Her Appa looked shocked.
"I didn't Appa. Why would I say anything to him?"
"Of course Vishwa, why would Ishu say anything to him? He's not like everyone else you know...he's special...right Ishu?"
"What Amma?! It's not like that...ummm...now let me eat! Your grandson...actually granddaughter according to Raman is hungry and so I'm starving too!" She tried to divert the attention to the food while her parents couldn't be happier seeing her shy face as she couldn't look at them and started to eat quietly, but was thinking of Raman's reaction if he was here right now...
~~~~~
At the same time in his office, he also become a topic of discussion when lunch time came. He wasn't in the mood to eat for obvious reasons and since he had loads of work remaining, he had called a meeting at lunch with some newer staff who would easily agree to come. As everyone slowly poured into the conference room, he was already seated busy replying to an email with a stern, serious look in his face which got the laughing newer staff serious as well. He stopped and looked up for a moment scanning the room and found many people missing. His mood was already off and these people were getting on his nerves. A few minutes later, he found almost everyone there except for his manager who was responsible for this meeting. He was about to walk out of the room when a young girl and the manager came. Continuing to type, not looking at anyone, he was told an explanation on how this was the girl's first day and she wasn't familiar hence they were late...
"Sir, I'm sorry for the delay. But Mrs. Iyer will adjust soon and it won't happen again."
"Arre she's Bhalla, not Iyer." He said without a thought and without looking up busying typing away on his laptop while everyone stood shocked. Not realizing what he said, he looked at his laptop screen while the girl was courageous enough to correct him...
"Sir, you're mistaken..." He finally looked up at the girl and everyone else around him staring right at him, so he looked back at the girl and asked...
"Who are you?"
"Miss. Iyer." He looked at her ID badge and her last name was indeed Iyer. He smiled weakly looking around as everyone was busying whispering amongst themselves and he knew exactly what they were all thinking. He tried to cover up only he knew it wouldn't stop the talks now...
"Oh sorry, small confusion, I was thinking of someone else...Now all of you stop staring at me, and let's get started!" He tried to act stern and tough for everyone to make them serious and forget his fumble which he was successful in doing, but couldn't stop everyone from laughing and talking when he wasn't around as the news spread around like fire. All the while he could only think of Ishita...Mrs. Ishita Bhalla and how she would have reacted if she was here...
~~~~~
Though till noon, things went fine with them, but it all changed soon. After lunch till the time he got out of his office, they both could think about each other. He was lost in his meetings and sat staring at nothing in his cabin only thinking about her while she sat in her room with Amma and Ruhi, but could only think about him or take care of Ruhi when needed.
And they both were thinking about one day they would never forget. That day they went without talking. One small misunderstanding they had and how much it hurt them both. That day were so far away despite seeming to be next to each other while today they seemed far yet were the closest they had ever been. There was so much difference since that day, but a few things remained the same. The fact that day they hadn't talk and today they hadn't technically talked either. And then the biggest similarity, they felt so empty on the inside.
This was a normal scenario that they wouldn't be together at this time of day and some days he would come home so late that they wouldn't spend much time together, yet never had this felt this weird feeling that made them want to cry and find a way to hold onto each other and never let go. Maybe it was because she knew he wouldn't come home to her today and wouldn't hug her as they would talk about his day, she wouldn't admire the tired smile on his face, she wouldn't watch him with Ruhi or maybe because she wouldn't get a good night kiss and cuddle in his arms as she would sleep. He was in the same situation, he missed her so much though he was never with her at this time of day. Maybe because she wouldn't be there waiting for him at home, she wouldn't sit there as he ate dinner, she wouldn't ask about his day while she listened to his rants with a smile that made his fatigue fly out the door, they wouldn't spend time with Ruhi or talk to their baby together, or maybe it was just because he couldn't go to sleep without seeing her anymore. And those thoughts were the very reason she longed to bury herself his arms while he wished for her to be in his arms. It was a small yet painful first separation for them...
~~~~~
As they managed to make it through till the evening, they both couldn't wait any longer for each other. She had texted him around 6 when he would leave his office and gotten a reply half an hour later that he was leaving and wold come to visit first thing. Their excitement had no bounds. They felt just like they had before their wedding when they had make a shopping plan one day and couldn't hold their excitement to see the other. The only difference was that this time, they were about 2-3 times more excited and impatient than before.
He was driving so impatiently and to his own surprise with a lot of road rage today. Poor truck drivers and rickshaws became the victims of a man desperate to meet his family as he yelled at him and cursed under his breath when their meeting was delayed because of other people. On the hand Ishita was equally impatient and her emotional state since this morning wasn't helping, so unfortunately Mihika become the victim of her anger. She was scolded for not knocking on the door before entering and then for not knowing where Ishita's phone was when she asked for it. And when Mihika started to mutter about how her Jiju handles Akka, she was scolded again for being her Jiju's chamchi when the man couldn't even come to visit his wife. That's when Mihika burst out laughing and went out of the room as she knew the reason behind her sister's anger now.
While they were both missing each other, there was one more person becoming anxious this whole while. And it was their daughter Ruhi. If her parents were angry right now, she was twice as angry. She had enjoyed herself as she got pampered by her grandparents and had fun, but now she was used to having her dad home by now and was getting cranky as she waited for him. She started to cry as her dad was nowhere in sight and she missed him since he didn't even kiss her before heading to work and her mother was also busy in her own world not paying attention to her. Hearing her cries, the whole house surrounded her and tried to make her stop, but she wouldn't budge. Even Ishita couldn't make her stop crying today, so Mihika and her parents were out of the question. The only person who could make her calm down came right then and rang their doorbell...
Mr. Iyer opened the door as Raman rushed in as soon as he heard Ruhi's cry. He stood near the door as the woman were busy trying to calm Ruhi and didn't notice him. It was Ruhi who saw him and reached out trying to jump out of Ishita's arms. He ran and took her into his arms as his wailing daughter clutched onto his shirt collar while he hugged her tightly. Ishita looked at him with tears in her eyes while everyone else left the trio alone...
He hugged Ruhi, talked to her with teary eyes, wiped off her tears and rocked her trying to make her quieten down all the while Ishita was only looking at as tears fell from her cheeks. Exhausted from the crying and her tiring day, she placed her head on the crook of his neck and drifted off to a slumber. As he placed Ruhi onto the divan making sure there was a cushion to keep her protected, she walked over to him as he got up.
She didn't wait a second before putting her arms around his neck as she started to sob. He let down his guard and tears fell from his eyes as he hugged her back. She ran her hand through his hair while he did the same, he stroked her back while he followed. They felt each other's presence and cherished it like it was the most precious thing ever...because it was. After a few moments, when they had tried to recompose themselves like before, they broke apart their hug reluctantly. As soon as they move apart, they both cupped the other's face not wanting to stay away even for a moment now. Leaning in for a kiss, they closed their eyes letting a lone tear escape from each eye as their lips touched. Lost in each other for a few moments, they forgot about where they were and when they heard her father's voice, they opened their eyes and slowly parted their lips. She cupped his face as he kept his head down and brought him closer as their forehead touched...
"I can't do this Ishita." He whispered as their encounter right now made him sure he couldn't go another day without her.
"It's half way over." She tried to hold back her tears.
"No it's not, it' just the beginning. How will I even sleep without you?" A droplet fell onto the palm of her hand.
"We'll talk...video chat...message...something..." But before she could say anything else, he couldn't keep it in anymore and just hugged her...
"Ishita, this is enough! Please come home! I'm not going back without you."
"Raman...I wish...but I can't. What will I say to Amma and Appa?"
"Say anything."
"Raman! Don't act like a child!" She regretted her words, but she was stuck. Her parents or him, she couldn't pick. It shattered her heart to see his state, but it hurt just as much seeing those very tears that her parents would try to hide and smile with her. He was shocked at her words and pulled back from the hug...
"A child? Maybe...I am acting like a child, but that's all I can do! I'm missing you like a small kid would miss someone close to them. And this child here is missing his children...and his wife. What else do I have to go home to? Just you three and now you guys aren't there..."
"Raman..." he could tell she was also in a tough spot. She was also in a dilemma about what she wanted. He tried to understand, but he simply didn't know what it was like to be in her situation just because he would never in her shoes. He knew that well and knew she had made a choice and he had promised her he would go through with whatever she wanted.
So he smiled at her and wiped off her tears trying to cheer her up...
"I am your biggest child, sometimes I need time to adjust...but I'll...I'll be okay..."
"I promise, just one more day and then I'm going to be with you Raman." She wiped off his tears and he held her hand giving her a weak smile. He went down on his knees and touched her stomach with his forehead whispering an "I miss you...have fun here." To his child and then he got up not before wiping off his tears and sitting on the divan next to his sleeping angel who he gently kissed and watched her crinkle her nose in her sleep when he kissed there. And finally he came back to her and pecked her forehead gently...
"You all take of yourselves...I'll call before bed." He told her as he brushed aside some of her hair not looking into her eyes once since they both knew it would end up in more tears.
"I'm so sorry for this Raman..."
"Don't be...just be happy and that makes me happy." Exchanging faint smiles, he started to walk to the door while she followed him. He sadly walked out of the house without looking back knowing it would just make it harder while she stood at the door looking at his retreating figure. She stood there until his car was nowhere to be seen and quickly walked in. She picked up Ruhi and rushed to her room shutting the door behind her as her family watched with a heavy heart for the first time feeling horrible about what their attempt to make them realize was doing.
So the mothers had a talk over the phone and knew tomorrow morning they would need the kids to understand why they were hurting and missing each other so much was because of the love they shared. And they both knew they would need to have a talk with their children to make them realize this...
~~~~~
The night was torture for them. After having dinner silently and half-heartedly, they had both went to their rooms, but sleep was far from them. She had feed Ruhi and put her to much difficulty after showing her Raman's picture on her phone since she didn't have it in her for a video call that would make her face him.
Now she sat on her bed looking at his shirt in front of her. She had hidden it in Mumbai itself with her clothes, not knowing she would need it so badly here. It was the blue shirt she and Ruhi had picked out for him on his off day and now it was her solace in this lonely night. Hugging his shirt, she felt him through it, his fragrance lingering around her gave the feeling of his presence and she almost could imagine him with her like he had been the day he wore the shirt. Clutching onto the shirt tightly, she lay in bed and didn't realize when she fell asleep as she cuddled onto his shirt and relived through many memories with him.
He on the other hand was standing out on the balcony with a cancer stick in his hand. He went to light it up, but couldn't as he remembered the last time she had gotten so upset seeing him smoke. So frustrated he went inside throwing the cigarette on the ground. Sitting in bed with sleep nowhere near him as she was only in his thought and the silence in the room without her usual chattering was eating him up. That's when he looked over and saw her pillow that was under Ruhi's teddy. He picked up the two belongings and went onto his side of the bed when something fell from under her pillow. Picking it up, he saw her ultrasound pic and picked it up to wiping it off in case anything got on it. He lay down in bed hugging her pillow while the teddy was next to him and the picture was placed in the small pocket of his clothes. And thinking about her, he eventually dozed off...
~~~~~
His mother walked into his room as he seemed to sleeping in quite late and found him asleep cuddling onto the other pillow from the bed and she knew it was hers. Her son was completely in love! She walked over to him and sat by his bedside. She noticed a picture next to him and then saw Ruhi's teddy by his side as well...
"Pagal! He misses her so much, but still can't admit it's love!" She ran her hand over his head waking him up in the process. He woke up and sat up in bed yawning and rubbing his eyes. He smiled to her and asked her if she needed anything since she usually didn't come into his room that often. When she replied no, he asked what she was doing here or was she just waking him up...
"Just admiring the lover boy side of my son." She pinched his cheeks annoying him like a child and he related to Ruhi for a moment.
"Lover boy? I don't understand..."
Raman, look at your state! You're in love! You've gone crazy over her!" she pointed out Ishita's pillow in his arms as he sat hugging it.
"What Ma? Love with Ishita...it's..."
Suddenly a thought crossed his mind...they say you can't stay away from a person you love...that being away from your loved ones give you the feeling of emptiness and loneliness...just like he was feeling away from her...
His mother's laughing brought his attention back to her...
"I never said Ishita, but oh well. I guess she is the only one who have loved truly so even your heart know it well, just your stupid mind doesn't."
"Only one? Ma what nonsense! What have you eaten this morning?"
"Nothing. All I know is I'm just happy you've found love Raman. This compromise marriage is now filled with love that no one expected, so it adds to my happiness."
"Ma there is no love, just care and trust..."
"But those are all parts of love. Raman I'm being serious now. And I don't want to upset you in the morning, but I need to tell you this. I've seen you in 2 different marriages. And I can see the difference. Sorry for this comparison, but Raman, Ishita is your true love. Because this is love from both sides. I've seen you two together and no one can tell that you two didn't have some sort of love marriage. You miss her, always want to be with her, stay around her, you smile with her, it's like she makes you feel better, and you are continuously talking with her like you did before your first marriage. And the best part which really makes me believe this is love is the fact she also feels the same for you. She cares for you and trusts you...and loves you the way you love her. You are getting what you didn't in your first marriage. So if you can call that love then why can't this be called love. In fact this is pure love...She is perfect for you and she is the one you love no matter what you think. I must say Raman, you're lucky to get this second chance...don't lose it..."
Saying so she got up and left him in his thoughts. All the while she was talking, he just felt like saying yes to whatever she mentioned what he and Ishita did for each other. But that word love was so hard to digest. Love had a completely different meaning to him...or did it really? He started to think and this time without any fear of admitting if this was love. He unknowingly found himself comparing his previous experience with love to his relationship with Ishita. The first time she would be away from him for days even weeks, but never was he this desperate to meet her or talk to her...was this a sign of love? And there was any trust in the marriage, but here was such strong trust from him for her and vice versa...was this also a part of love? That jealous, possessiveness, attraction, care, affection...all love? Wasn't this what people thought was love, wasn't this was he thought was love? Love...it...it was love...
"Love? I'm...in love? With Ishita...? I'm in love with Ishita!" He ran his hand through his hair ruffling it shyly as he knew it was real, it was really happening...he was in love!
~~~~~
Her mother walked into her room since she was sleeping so late to find Ruhi awake playing with the corner of Raman's shirt that Ishita was snuggled next to. She shook her head at Ishita's antics and woke her up gently in case she was too tired. Yawning Ishita got up picking up Ruhi and moving side Raman's shirt in the process trying to avoid her Amma seeing it. When her mother asked her why she had slept so late, she simply replied she couldn't sleep till late night to which her Amma was straight forward...
"Ishu look at what you're doing to yourself! You're in love! You're crazy for him!"
"What Amma? Love with Raman...it's just..."
Suddenly a thought crossed her mind...they say you can't stay away from a person you love...that separation from loved ones pricks you...just like it was hurting her...
"Ishu, I never mentioned Raman's name, but I just that was kind of expected. I just don't know why you are denying, but it's so obvious. I've been noticing ever since you two came back from Mumbai, there is love now. Ishita you are always longing to with him, you miss him so much, there's a glow on your face when he's around,, you're concerned for him, you care and trust him, you smile and joke with him, and you just live so freely with him. And I may be old, but I can tell you are attracted to him. And he's no less. It's the same feelings he has for you and I can see it, so why can't you? Why can't you admit this is love? You had no probably claiming love before when it never had care, concern, trust, for God's sake it had nothing but lust. And this what you are denying, is love...true love. He's your second chance Ishita, don't let him go..."
Her mother gave her a small hug and picked up Ruhi excitedly talking to her about new toys while Ishita was left in her thoughts. She just wanted to agree with everything her mother said, but the label of love... she didn't know how to react, she couldn't deny because she found herself agreeing to her Amma's word about her and Raman, and she didn't have any reason not to accept either. She always thought love was love making, attraction and all those things that happen in novels and on TV and movies, but her ex gave her a harsh reality check. But then Raman was reality as well, he gave her all she wanted. And she tried to do the same. Her happiness was his and his happiness was hers...was this love? Was the fact that they were each other's support in moments of weakness...was that love? Their growing attraction and their want for the other...was that love? Yes...it...it was...love! That meant that she...Ishita Bhalla was in...in love!
"Love? I'm...in love? With Raman...? I'm in love with Raman!" She smiled shyly and bit her lips blushing as she admitted what their hearts had accepted way back...
