After watching the first week of this serial, and finding it absorbing and addictive, the one thing that strikes me is the kingsize ambition of the story. The absolute multitude of themes and sub-themes that are already being woven into this serial, which is about the story about the ill-treatment of widows by the society at large. Yet under that heading we're seeing the exposure of so very many social ills that the mind simply reels. 😊 And I'm not even sure we've seen the end of the strands dangling before us. Here's the list as I see it. Feel free to add what I've missed:

1) The ill-treatment of widows by the society at large
2) Domestic violence - the long-term sustained emotional abuse of a wife by her husband
3) Child abuse - the long-term bullying of a Viplav's sister by her mother; and the overreaction towards Dhaani by her mother
4) Bullying of the disabled - of Viplav's father by his wife
5) Incest? - Between father-in-law and daughter-in-law
6) Adultery - Viplav's grandfather and his long-term keep
7) Corruption - in the name of religion
8) Eveteasing/harrassment by Viplav of Dhaani; by the shopkeepers of the widows
9) Inciting violence/arson, etc of the crowds by Viplav's grandfather to teach Dhaani a lesson
10) Molestation? of female disciples by Tiwari senior when they come to him for guidance
11) Failure of the law when it comes to convicting Viplav

Gosh! There's enough material here to keep the show running for years if they get it right! I only hope the makers don't lose track, and don't forget to close the very many loops. Looks like we're in for very many battles before Viplav and Dhaani live happily ever after.

I am really proud to have you a famous critic like you to this show..I had read your critics posts on RR forum..
really looking forward to your rants and to your valuable views ..welcome to the forum ..
yeah all the points you summed up are enough to run this show long and long..but honestly acting do matter..and actors are really doing fab job..even the actor who plays the dadaji's role is perfect to make viewers to hate him..
and off course the leads ..

Thank you. 😊 And that is my hope too. I have to admit I have a soft corner for Mishal after LTL. And I do want him and this show, especially because of its cause, to succeed. Dhaani's plight and that of the widows, of which I was not aware before this serial, appals and moves me immensely and I am hoping that this show can succeed in its message.

Thank you so much, Sona, for your warm welcome. 😃 Not sure anybody other than RR-ians have heard of me, 😳 but delighted to bump into you.

And completely agree with you - the actors are doing a fab job. It's interesting that I find all the widows a lot more believable, even in their extremes, than I do Viplav's family, which seems to me unnecessarily OTT.

It sometimes feels like a 'clash of cultures' and filming styles, with the one very restrained, and gritty and real, and the other very overblown, and ultra serial-ish and as pulp as it gets. I actually find it difficult to empathise with Viplav's entire family - they seem so alien. Yet his friends are pretty normal. I think the problem is how caricaturi-ish the characterisation is of Tripathi senior (the cliched Godman cum Shammi Kapoor in Prem Rog); and the rest.

I am so hoping that the Tiwari clan tones down into more believable after this opening month.

Viplav and Dhaani are coming along nicely. Hoping the CVs don't rush this love story, but let it unfold slowly with no confessions until a good few months. 😃

Thank you Roopal.😊 I agree with you. The treatment of all the women by the men in this serial is as a subordinate class. The only exceptions are in the treatment of mother and grandmother by Viplav, almost as though only those roles can command respect, and that too when only the husband is alive.
