Shillong mourns over Amit's defeat

Shillong's hysteria over a music show is proof of Bollywood's appeal but their hero's departure has taught the fans that there's more to performance in a reality show.

A phenomenal carnival kind of atmosphere has been going on in the sleepy hill town of Shillong for weeks now because a certain reality music show on a television channel has evoked mass hysteria.

Even a decade ago it was unthinkable for people of Shillong to stay awake at night or people from all communities to come together for the sake of Bollywood music but at the end of the day it was less of a contest between one musician and another rather more of a contest of SMSes.

Meghalaya was almost sure Amit Paul would win the contest. Celebrations were underway across the state.

People gathered at street corners watching the programme on giant television screens. The mood was electrifying.

Okay so Amit lost. BOO WOO. Its not the end of the world, Were ppl like Lata the "indian idol".

This term Idol in "Indian Idol" is used very loosely. This show isnt about any kind of Idol. Basically this show is about how a region picks a person among the region, throws them into the competiion and votes like crazy for them.

Amit is way beyond that! Poor guy prolly doesnt even know what kind of sick game he got himself into!

The only good thing a show like this does is put good talent infront of us like Amit, Karunya, Amey etc. Other than that, dont expect much.

AMIT is a great talent and he has to prove his mettle as a singer in the hindi film industry. I agree, hope all this adulation does not corrupt him and he is achieves his goal as a musician.

i dont think success is goin to go 2 his head...if that were the case then he wud have had a swollen head the size of a biiiiiiiiiiiig beach ball by now frm all the praise hes got frm every one.....
hes handled all this craze regardin him very well with dignity n itll remain so....
