It's 3am in the morning and I've literally just finished watching the episode from yesterday. I wasn't going to write my thoughts down today because it had gotten so late. But then I watched the show and I loved it so much that I just have to gush! And yes, I am equally surprised to be finally using words like "gush" instead of "rant" while describing my feelings for an episode. 😆

I have to say I am so disappointed in the police officers today. They showed such professionalism yesterday and that is so not the case today. All their dignified handling of the case from yesterday went in vain when they started to cover up for "Viplav baba" and the Mahanth jee. Sigh. For once it would have been nice to see a police force with their moral compass pointing in the right direction. Oh well. Until next time..

I am not even going to spare a single sentence more on this FIL-DIL relationship. I do not know what is going on and quite frankly now I don't care. Whether he is in it for pervy reasons and she for money, they deserve each other. And everything else that will eventually come their way. And that is all I will say about that.

Also, Dhani's mom needs to CHILL the heck out. It is sad to see that she has been programmed to believe that widows really just cannot do much more than exist in the fabric of society. But I am so glad she seems to be outnumbered in this chain of thought by Dhani, Indrani and Raj Lakshmi.

Which brings me to the highlight of today's episode - Viplav, Dhani and Sushma jee. Oh man these three just made my day!

Viplav is just such a revelation today. I can finally say that the man is starting to make sense to me. That isn't as big a jerk as the first 4 episodes made him seem. In fact he isn't a jerk at all, not on purpose at least. He is this sheltered and pampered boy who has gotten to be 24 years old without every having to face any rejection or difficulty in life. His family adores him, his friends treat him like a maharaja, his town folk treat him with reverence because of his family and he has just been told his entire life that being a "Tripathi" means not having to live by the standards that apply to other mortals. So he drinks, makes merry, jokes around with is friends, gets entertained by "Deepu dances", has girlfriends with no sense of commitment and just expects everyone to fall over him and appreciate everything he does simply because HE does them (but has no malice in his heart). Lol! That has to be a very NAIVE view of the world but the man has been so sheltered that I am not surprised that he doesn't think the planet physically revolves around him. And it is even more ironic to me that the meek and beechari 20 year old vidwa has MORE worldly sense and acumen than our Amreeka-bound hero. His growth will really be one to watch for and I am FINALLY excited to see it.

And he made me laugh today - oh man he made me laugh today. Finally I was able to really enjoy MR and the sheer brilliance of his acting abilities now that Viplav was revealing more sides to his personality. He smirks at the thought of Dhani's predicament but I am inclined to believe that it was simply his victory dance at teaching Dhani a lesson (even though he really didn't.. Lol). But then he shows up at the police station to explain away the confusion and the goofball expected her to THANK him? 😆😆😆 Oh man he was so proud of himself for coming in and saving the day, so proud of his explanation that he was just playing a joke. Lol.. So much so that the first few minutes of Dhani's bhashan went entirely over his head because he just couldn't see how his graciousness in clarifying the confusion could be construed as ANYTHING BUT awesomeness. 😆😆😆 So bhai sahab gets frustrated and annoyed, rebuts her accusations with silly arguments (like being "bhagwan of Banaras") and then gets so SHOCKED and OFFENDED when Indrani just brushes past him like he is INSIGNIFICANT. 😆😆😆 Oh Viplav.. I honestly loved this scene so much! I could literally just spend all day re-watching it and his many expressions and I am sure I would still manage to find something new each time.

Also while we are talking about this scene, I have to make note that I was throughly impressed by Dhani facing off against Viplav. Finally she was saying things that very actually on point and not just some random dharm bhashan. She was saying everything I wanted to say and she was saying it even as her mom tried to shut her up. And then later, once she was home, I loved that she stood her ground against her mother even though there was that ever present threat of getting slapped again. She STOOD HER GROUND! And I cheering! She may not be as in your face as Raj Lakshmi or as loud as her mother, but our girl's got a backbone that surfaces in front of people other than Viplav (even though it still honestly resurfaces more in front of him and in issues regarding him). So proud of our girl ( for some reason she's "our girl" in my head.. Lol)!!

Another scene I liked was the one with Viplav and his sister. They were so adorable as they sat there, him with his hair all over the place as she did his "malish" and then later with him in pony tails.. 😆😆 So mister can't take what he dishes out! He can prank everyone and expect everyone to understand his intentions and enjoy the joke but then in a similar situation he cannot see past HIS pain and HIS embarassment/annoyance. Lol.. Viplav, Viplav, Viplav.. 😆 With every comment to his sister about considering how he must have felt, I kept waiting for him to have an AHA moment when he realized the same regarding his pranks with Dhani. But Viplav baba was completely oblivious to that until dadiji knocked some sense into him!

That scene was so special for one more reason and that was because DADIJI SPEAKS! Oh man she speaks and she speaks SENSE! She sat him down so nicely to explain to him how he was wrong, listened to him try to justify how he wasn't, try to convince him with logic and God to apologize and then later just resorted to emotional blackmail.. 😆😆 And when Viplav being Viplav decided two can play that game, she came back into dadi mode and just twisted his ear until he agreed. Oh man, my heart felt so FULL in this scene.. So freaking adorable! 😆😆

And Viplav REALLY believed that he had done Dhani a favor and that she should be THANKING him!! Lol! I LOVE how he gets offended by the silliest of things (like her not saying thank you or walking away in the middle of a discussion without giving him any importance) while she is not allowed to get upset at all because everything HE does is JOKE and must be taken as such. He just makes me laugh now, I don't even know what else to call it. He can't irritate me anymore because I finally see why he does what he does and suddenly it's just silly and hilarious and not as frustrating anymore. Him sketching Dhani's face and throwing horribly aimed darts at it was LOL worthy. I get serious high school vibes from him when he does stuff like this.. Like I said, can't wait for him to grow up! 😆😆

And lastly his APOLOGY at the Ganga Ghaat. Oh so humbly, Viplav jee asks for apology from that "doh kauri ki larki" while the Ganga jee and it's machliyan beared witness. 🤣 And just for confirmation he offered an apology to Gai mata too, albeit an apprehensive one at first. 🤣 His "please make note of it " at the river and "oh hello" to the cow had me in SPLITS! He must REALLY love his dadi jee to be doing something he clearly does not agree with. Bechara even goes after the horde of widows Dhani disappears into, only to find the wrong widow and quickly rush away! 😆😆 But for all his whining and sulking, when he finally does see her giving flowers to kids, I am giving him points for not high tailing it out of there. He approached her, tried to talk to her and then chased after her once our heroine recognized him and wanted nothing to do with him. Lol! And the last mein getting colored in WHITE indirectly by Dhani is such a full circle of symbolism after he colored Dhani red. LOVED THIS SCENE! I could watch this one all day too! And laugh each time.. 😆😆

MR was such a treat to watch! Finally we were able to see scenes that allowed him to show case his brilliance as an actor. He really just dug into the character and made me adore Viplav in ONE episode's time. Can't say this will last or that Viplav won't piss me off any more. But at least for tonight, I can sleep with a smile because this episode really was better than previous one by leaps and bounds.

The precap looks like dadaji will be taking over most of the episode today but at least I'll always have yesterday's episode to help me get through it.

Actually yesterday's episode was a delightful experience for everyone ..no one would have imagined that they will get such amusement in this episode...I was also prepared myself doing such expression exactly like viplav when he sensed that dhani's widow lectures are coming on his way..but nope it was sheer enjoyment ..
that apologizing to river , to fishes and to a cow were turned out to be like chocolates and icecream..loved it ..
we can easily sense Datta coming out from viplav when he angrily kicked police station door ..😳and one more thing ..he isn't interested in home functions ..he takes it as waste of time like way Datta used to show his disinterest in such things..
dhani - the newbie actress is improving herself to see mishal's perfection..loved the way she was trying to control her laughter..when that white paint failed on him..
finally this show is improving with each next episode..just calculate the review from first episode to this..it is showing good improvements..
plus many twists and new layers of characters are yet to reveal..for example..how dhani will change herself into bubbly happy girl again with viplav

Hey Fivr! Hope all is good with you! Good to see the old LTL gang around - hello! What can I say? If there was ever someone who would make me go crawling back to discuss an Indian TV show, it was always going to be Mishal Raheja 😆 Damn he made us wait for a long time, teasing us with mini projects here and there! Now he's back with this daily - mayn I've been struggling with the concept of the show ever since I got a whiff of the boy's comeback. I don't think the promos helped either because seeing the dialogues MR was spouting made me CRINGE. That was hard enough for me to digest because the words 'cringe' and 'Mishal Raheja' should never feature in the same sentence. So after tussling with the idea of whether I wanted to see the show, I finally decided to catch up with all the episodes last night and can I just say, your feelings watching last night's episode pretty much mirror mine! Totally agree with you! In a nutshell, that episode truly allowed MR to portray his acting abilities to a tee! We really did get to see the various sides to Viplav's personality and the interaction with his Daddi and Dhani were a treat to watch!
There was one particular moment which I ABSOLUTELY loved and that was when Viplav was in a fury and deep thought, sketching / scribbling away a pitcure of Dhani and at the same time, Dhani was painting away the murti with the colours. For me, that was pure perfection - MR's eyes and the effect that Dhani and his Daadi's words had on him finally began to sink in. That was the moment I was looking for. Then the way he pinned the sketch to the darts board and threw the darts one by one - had a Dutta deja vu moment there. 😆 But again, really liked the camera work there, panning onto MR. The man himself is just a class act.

I began watching the show last night with an open mind knowing full well that the concept is not relevant to the majority of the world population. Living in the western world, you barely think about widows being discriminated against - it's virtually unheard of. However like anything, there are pockets of communities across rural India where being a widow is frowned upon and there is a social stigma attached to it as well discrimination. Came across this article randomly just trying to understand the issues women are facing:

http://asiapacific.unwomen.org/en/news-and-events/stories/2014/12/widows-continue-to-face-severe-stigma-and-discrimination

I really struggled to understand the unnecessary berating of Dhani by her mother when she walked into the asharam and was flooded with buckets of water. That whole scene made me shake my head. Not a fan.

Few other quick thoughts:

Viplav - I actually find his character extremely refreshing from what I know is out there on Indian television. He doesn't have baggage as we know, he isn't an angry young man and he isn't an intense 'I'm gonna eat you up with my eyes' guy. You've captured the essence of his character superbly - he is pampered and cut off from the issues that exist in the very city he is born in, because of the doting and power he has coming from a rich family! He really cannot see anyone refusing him, especially a young widow who for him, has nothing going for her anyway. It irked him to the core that she had the audacity to give him an earful 😆 That is why I am so looking forward to his growth as a character because he needs to be taught more than thing or two.

Dhani - I like this Eisha Singh girl! She's impressed me with the innocence she's conveyed playing Dhani. But of course, there's this side to her that I think she's struggling to repress. I think it's been a year since she was widowed? For some reason, I think she's battling with herself internally - she's a young girl who has had to adopt this ridiculous mindset and religion according to scriptures, forbidding herself the colours and pleasures of life. She's no quivering young girl who doesn't have a mind of her own - that's clear! But she's also strong headed. I think her law abiding nature has come from her mother teaching her the rules and regulations. What I am keen to know is what Dhani was like before she was widowed? I hope that hint of a smile when Viplav was drenched in paint reveals more :)

No idea if I will be able to keep us with this show, but it has been a sheer delight so far to see Mishal Raheja back on screen. What an actor!
