Hi all
So I'm def new to this forum i was told I should check out this show by a friend and initially tried to avoid it for a long time, however with some unexpected time on my hands and some promos on tv I must admit i got curious and took the plunge and I must admit I am hooked. I am not sure what exactly it is that draws me to this show is it: lost love, broken hearts, infinite hatred, second chances and if you want me to be honest it's prolly all of the above I am truly a sucker at 2nd chance love stories that start with some hatred, but as this story has progressed (i know its tech a newbie) I find that the more I find out the more I want to know.
Now I know Abeer (aka a abeer aka pearl puri aka pani puri) is a sweetie and he is not the only one to blame for this mess the leads have found themselves in (dont hate me for the next part), but there is something about Meher (me her sorry i dont have any more interesting names for her yet) that really makes me want to root for her. It may be that it has been a while since I have seen a "strong" female lead (i know she's a mess and there a tons of others who have been much better, but of the ones i am currently watching shes the one i'm liking) I mean here's a lady who from what we've been given so far came from a fairly lower to mid class fam where they worked their butts off to earn what many take for granted, food, education, and eating out was a luxury not a given (not saying a ton of ppl dont live this reality but I find it rarely is shown on tv let alone indian tv IMO) she and goes to school to...well LEARN (novel idea i know) its not about making friends finding a gang and playing kuch kuch hota hai, but about actually achieving the grades to make not only HER life better but her family's life better too.
Of course this is an indian serial and she has to find love and get married (tho we have no clue what this meant did she have to leave her goals behind? as is so often shown? did she fulfill her dreams and her husband didnt hence they broke up? did they both get what they had hoped and love was just not enough? who knows and hopefully we find out) But lets FF to the now and why i so love her character sketch. So here we have a gal that went to school to learn and become something. and if we FF to 10 yrs later she is now a divorcee and not just earning her own keep but helping her bua (whom i love btw yet another strong woman who may be easy to hate on the surface but deep down is one of principle and backbone and love, i mean she ignores her bro to be with her bhabhi and supported her niece and nephew and essential has no life of her own, props to ya woman) and she is not jus a secretary or a a team member of a company she is the CEO i just love the business strength and career power she has been given it shows that though life takes unexpected turns and you get knocked on you butt you shouldnt stay down but stand up and face life and become better and bigger than others think of you (ps this was achieved by learning in school yet another strength)
then comes the divorcee title now we all know in india often it is portrayed (no clue if this is reality or not) that it is better to be a widow than a divorcee esp if you want to have a 2nd chance at marriage, and here we have a lead that is actually the one that takes control of this "raaz" and not only blows the roof off once but over and over first to her office, then to the newspaper and then to the nosy neighbors she feels no need to hide who she is and what she's been through. If you cant give her props for that then i'm not sure what you're rooting for.
This post turned out way longer and took a whole other direction than i had originally planned but oh well.
