Hey everyone! I'm so sorry for not updating yesterday! I haven't feeling well and have a fever. I was in bed almost all day yesterday and today. I tried to write an update last night, but was in and out of sleep all day so couldn't even reply to everyone and the update was blank. So I'm sorry for not updating yesterday and even today, all I could write was a small update despite this being the last update of this thread. But nonetheless I hope you all like it...
Chapter 54 He woke up in the middle of the night and lazily got up to the bathroom. As he came back he noticed Ishita wasn't in bed and Ruhi was facing a pillow instead of her. He walked out to the kitchen and looked around for her and on not finding her there, he started to get worried. Rushing back to their room, he was going to get his phone to call her when he saw her and sighed in relief...
She was standing out on the balcony, hair loose gently blown by the wind while she seemed lost in her thoughts with a faint smile lingering on her face. He quietly walked over to her as his lips curved upon seeing her. He wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his chin on her shoulder as she turned to him startled...
"Raman! When did you wake up?"
"Just now, but what are you doing out here?"
"Nothing. Looking at the city lights. So beautiful."
"Hmm, it's a beautiful place. A lot of things seem beautiful now. But tomorrow we have a flight, so let's go inside. It's cold out here."
"Wait...I don't want to."
"Why?"
"Just stay...I want to be here."
"Ishita..."
"Raman, did you ever think everything would change so much here?"
"What do you mean?" they slowly swayed side to side as she kept her hands on him and looked out at the city's view.
"Before Mumbai, what was our relationship? Nothing, we were married because of our kids. I took care of Ruhi and you took care of me and the baby. That was it, like two new friends who care for each other. Now I know you, I know what you went through...your pain, your happiness, your bad times, and I know about those times where I wish I had come earlier in your life and you wouldn't have faced so much alone. This trip made me value you and your importance..."
He looked at her as she spoke and then looked at where she was looking. The busy city of Mumbai.
"You're right. Did we ever think we would change so much in this short time? I mean this place is the very place where I cried to you about my past and found support from you and you did the same. We shared our pasts, we came closer, made friends...and lost a few...but we got so much. With Ruhi, her first time eating and turning over, and even got to witness her first enemy in Mihika. But us...Our first hug as a couple, our first "argument" and silence, our first kiss...and the most important thing, I think I finally got you in the true sense, I know you and realized what you mean to be. And like you I wish I had been able to stop all that you had gone through...I really wish I knew you back then. But you know one thing...I think about this a lot."
"What?"
"Ruhi and our chotu...the very children because of who we were left alone by our partner brought us together. More than anything in this world, I'll be grateful for our children. We are together because of them. This might be the first time children have brought parents together."
"But I'm so glad they did, and I'm so happy that we came on this trip together."
"I am too...best trip of my life. I hate the reason behind the trip, but really it has been wonderful at the end of it all. This place seems so special because of you."
"I don't even feel like leaving anymore..."
"Neither do I, but we have to go...my work and I want mom to be with you right now. Beside Mihika you need someone else older to help you."
"I guess..."
"But I promise you, we'll come here soon, as a family of 4. I mean we already are, but next time I'll hold the baby in my arms."
She turned her head to look at him while he gave her a smile. Pecking his lip for a few seconds, she leaned back and rested on his shoulder closing her eyes. He gently moved a strand of hair that was getting in the way of her beautiful relaxed face. She smiled keeping her eyes closed turning around and cuddling onto him. He shook his head at her chuckling...
"Ishita, you're tired aren't you?"
"Hmm..."
"Then let's go to bed."
"No...carry me."
"Fine." He bent over picking her up in his arms as she didn't even bother to open her eyes feeling safe cocooned in his arms as he walked over to their bed placing her on his side as the pillow was placed in her spot. As he tucked her in kissing her forehead, she giggled...
"I'm so spoiled! It's not good for you. Imagine you carrying me when I have a huge belly."
"I would love to."
"Thanks for telling me, now I will never walk to my bed again." She declared snuggling onto the blanket as he smiled to himself looking at her silly antics and went to sleep on her side of the bed...
~~~~~
She woke up to find Ruhi trying to grab her mangalsutra while she looked to find Raman not there. As she got up and picked up her up, Raman walked into the bedroom and smiled at the two. Both mother and daughter opened their arm for a hug from him as he walked around to them. He gave a hug to both his girls as they put their arms around on her. Kissing their foreheads starting their morning, he picked up Ruhi as Ishita got up rushing to the bathroom. He followed her worried since this would be the worst day to have bad nausea. As she came out, she had tears in her eyes and looked at him close to crying. He knew she shared the same worry as him and she could only say his name.
"Raman..." and that was enough for him to open up his arm and help her walk to the bed.
"Relax, it's fine...Just get ready in a little while and then lay down. Don't worry about anything else." She listened and did as he said while he got up to get Ruhi ready. She watched as he bathed Ruhi and changed her all while she had a goofy smile on her face. As he handed her the perfectly ready Ruhi, he got up to leave and get everything in the car and talk to the care taker. She felt bad for making him do all the work while she sat down and just watched. But today she was extremely tired and feeling sick, and she complained to Ruhi...
"Ru, you little pumpkin I bet you were never troubled her while you were in her stomach. I'm sure you were such an angel back then! And look at your brother, he always does this. He makes me all sick and then Mumma sits while Papa has to do all the work. I don't like it, do you? I pretty sure you don't, you hate all that bothers your dad."
"My girls never bother me. They are the sweetest...all three of them!" he came in and joined the conversation they were having.
"Raman, girl again? I told Ru it's her brother!"
"Stop lying to the small girl!" And so started their debate on whether they would have another girl or a boy. Ruhi sat in her mother's lap looking back and forth until Mihika walked to find them debate over the gender issue again. For the first time ever, Ruhi looked happy and excited to see her Chitti and reached out to her surprising the trio of adults looking at her. Mihika picked her up happily and boasted to her sister and brother-in-law...
"See! My Ruhi chuhi loves me now! More than you two, always fighting over the other baby!" Mihika mocked them while Ruhi became angry at her again and reached back to her dad. Raman and Ishita burst out laughing at her as Raman took Ruhi while Mihika called Ruhi a traitor. When asked why she had come to their room in the first place, her anger calmed as she suddenly remembered why she came...
"Jiju, the driver is here and he's asking for you."
"He's here already?! I'll go talk to him, and Ishita get ready now. We need to leave soon."
He left the room while Ishita went to get ready and Mihika took Ruhi and fed her once before they left. The rest of the morning went by in a flash as everyone was busy with last minute chaos and Ruhi's crankiness and Ishita's nausea didn't help. Mihika and Raman were running around serving the mother-daughter duo were busy trying to do their own things.
As things finally calm down and Raman was finished stuffing everything in the car, Bala and Vandita came back for one last good bye before they left. After having a long chat where the women got emotional, Raman and Bala secretly laughed at them, but glares from the women were enough to make them be quiet. After promising to call and stay in touch, their neighbours and friends left them as it was time for them to leave now. Mihika took Ruhi out to get her into her seat while Raman stopped Ishita for something by holding her hand.
"What happened Raman?"
"Just one minute, I want to do one thing before we leave."
"What?"
He quickly rushed to the corner of the living room and pulled something out a huge bag that lay there. He walked over to her and handed her a giant picture frame that left her teary eyed. It was one of their wedding picture which she wondered where he got from, but ignored as it was a beautiful picture of them and Ruhi as they were both so engrossed in Ruhi that they weren't even facing the camera. She ran her hand over the picture and he wiped off the tear from the corner of her eye. She looked up at him...
"Raman..."
"Next time when we'll come back, I want everyone to see this picture." He pointed to the wall that was across from the door. They went together and hung the picture on the wall. She stepped back and looked at it as he adjusted it to make it straight...
"It's perfect!" she exclaimed.
"Not really, I wanted this in our room and the living room one, I want my two princesses in it as well, but we'll get that later. For now we'll use this one." He gave her a side hug looking at the picture. Before they could say anything else, Mihika rushed in...
"Jiju, Akka! Ruhi is throwing a tantrum again, she pushes away her car seatbelt whenever I try to put it on."
"Let's go before our don gets more violent!" They both shared a laugh before walking out of their apartment, locking it and handing the keys to the caretaker to head out to the airport.
~~~~~
They reached the airport on time as the traffic was horrible on the way and Raman had a hard time sitting in the back helping Ishita through her moments of sickness and handling Ruhi when she was irritated due to the heat and started to cry. He was relieved as they arrived at the airport and were on time for their flight. They rushed and made it to boarding on time. Finding their seats, Ishita and Raman decided to sit together with Raman in the window seat after Ishita felt nervous about her nausea and heights while Mihika would sit in front of them. Seeing Ishita's weakness and her pale face from this morning, Mihika spoke up nervously considering her last time with Ruhi...
"Akka...I'll hold Ruhi...if you like." She looked at Ishita anxiously and to her surprise...
"Let me put her to sleep and then I'll give her to you." Ishita told her with a smile as they all took their seats. Feeding Ruhi her bottle of milk and giving her a pacifier, Ishita rocked her for a few seconds until Raman noticed and stopped her. Knowing she was sick and the flight would take off soon, he didn't want her to be uncomfortable during takeoff and so he took Ruhi from her and started to pat her to sleep. In mere minutes Ruhi was asleep and was handed to Mihika just as the plane was about to take up.
As the plane started to move, Ishita clutched onto his hand in nervousness. He stroked her hand gently and pulled his head closer to his shoulder. Putting his arm around her, kissed his hair and told her she would be fine while she closed her eyes and only tried to listen to his words. They had taken off and he looked out the window to find them in the air. He stopped stroking her hand and told her they had taken off, but got no response.
He looked down at her head and found her sleeping on his shoulder holding his hand. He smiled at her sleeping form and knew it was from staying up in the middle of the night and the chaos from this morning. Noticing the colder temperature in the plane, he quietly asked Mihika if Ruhi was well tucked into the blanket and once reassured, he looked back at Ishita. She was wearing a sleeveless top and her hoodie was tucked into the compartment above.
Not wanting to wake her up, he asked a hostess for a blanket who seemed to be smiling widely every time she looked back at Ishita fast asleep holding his hand while he kept his arm protectively around her. She brought a blanket for her and so he wouldn't have to move around, she placed it on Ishita as he thanked her. While the air hostess walked away, Mihika looked back slightly and found her sister fast asleep in his arms holding his hand while he kept his head on hers and closed his eyes...
