You are a man of very high moral standards but that does not give you the right to speak to everyone in a high handed, condescending tone now. I get it that you are worried about the safety of your family, but patronizing anyone and everyone within and outside the family is no way to go about it.
You are quick to advise your foreign return granddaughters to not talk to or do anything to encourage random strangers to loiter around the house but weren't you the one who said Rudra was a sadak chhap gunda and you did not trust him one bit? You have no qualms in making him responsible for the safety and security of the girls? I would've had more respect for your efforts to protect your family if when you broke the wall separating the two houses, you also relocated Kaushalya and Rudra. Then your rants about loafer guys hanging around the house being wrong would have held more water.
What I did love about the episode though is, again, Mantu. I thought when Chaubeyji caught him he'd try to run away and chaubeyji's description would be based on his silhouette as he ran away. But lover boy not only did not run away but he actually stood his own against Chaubey and gave him a piece of his mind too. The dialogue about judging people way too fast and the lack of wisdom despite having grown in age was spot on! I wanted to get up from my seat and whistle in tapori style for Mantu.
That brings me to the scene of the day - I've said this before and I'm going to say it again, I am amazed by Dhruv's acting. When you think of it in real world terms, I have to admit, it's super creepy to have a guy climb up the pipe and come into your room through the balcony and watch you while you sleep. Even if it's the guy you love. It's a very, very thin line between conveying the desperate longing and making it look creepy and despo and Dhruv toed that line to perfection. From the moment he sets eyes on Amaya's sleeping form, all you see is pure love, desperate longing and pain. Never for a second does it cross the line to becoming creepy and despo. The way he looks at her, the wind blows and her face gets uncovered but the lights go out just then and he gently, very gently moves a strand of hair from her face and in the whole process, does not touch her. It reminds me of the scene where devdas sees Paro for the first time in the SRK-Aishwarya Rai movie Devdas. He sits there watching a sleeping Paro with such an expression of love and awe and as he leaves, he uses his gentlest touch to place a "nazar ka teeka" on her lower lip. You don't have to have a lot of touching and physical contact when the love is so pure.. Even the gentlest of touch leaves an imprint. And just as Mantu raises his hand to caress her sleeping face, of course insomniac Chaubeyji calls out to Kripa Bhaiyya and ruins the moment. But I have to give it to the editing team for the amazing background score - lal ishq.. It's one of my all time favorite songs and to see it picturized on ManYa.. I've just fallen all the more in love with the song! Arijit's voice just added to the magic, the emotions and the poignancy of the scene.
Uma dear, finally! You've said it out loud that it was your mistake to harbor these delusions. Destroying everything that reminded you of him was a knee jerk reaction and even the attempted suicide. I was hoping that post this knee jerk reaction phase you'd reach a sensible plateau and resign yourself to the fact that Mantu isn't yours but looks like that isn't going to happen. Looks like you want to fight for what you think is rightfully yours even though you know it isn't. If only you'd pick your battles wisely Uma, you wouldn't have so many failures to deal with.
Oh and I have to mention a special scene. When Chaubeyji tells Rudra he caught a badmaash roaming near the house at night, the camera switches to Rachita's face for just a second and kudos to Anjum coz in that moment, you can clearly see it on her face that she is thinking, "oh shit! Was it Rama?" There is jo internal monologue but her expression gives it away perfectly! Great job Anjum!
I like that Kaushalya is keying Rudra to find out what has caused this sudden change between the families and why the mother-daughter duo of Pushpa and Sneha are flouncing around in the waters of love despite not having spoken to each other for 20-25 years. (Quite literally, that's the dialogue she said. Nice touch writers!). Rudra is the kind of villain who is fun to watch because you know somehow his plans will always backfire and ek do tukke lag bhi gaye tho chalta hai. Dev and GC re more difficult villains to deal with because they aren't actually villains so to speak and even their small moves produce major changes for the Mathurs.
I also like how the girls aren't too sure about this reunion happening so fast and having to conform to GC's rules. That was a realistic scene. Gautami though looked really exhausted and tired in that scene.
So, now that Mantu has locked horns with GC once, I have a couple of predictions on how the track might shape up:
1) it's going to be DDLJ style where SRK and Amrish Puri's first meeting is a disaster but then SRK manages to win him over slowly and steadily with his ways. Mantu could definitely pull it off considering how he is normally so respectful of elders. Even today, I feel if GC hadn't dragged his family and upbringing into this, Mantu would've quietly listened to him.
2) somebody made a post about this a few days ago that maybe at the end of the 30 days Amaya and Mantu would get married. I don't see this as a possibility considering how level headed both of them are but you never know, like I titled the post - yeh ishq kya kya karaye, who knows? If that were to happen, would we have a sort of Sneha's life on repeat with Mantu and Amaya? They keep their wedding secret, or maybe when the family finds out they kick them out of the house. And then both of them work towards winning the family's trust together?
3) what if Mantu decides to sacrifice his love for Amaya for Uma's sake and Amaya for the sake of her recently reunited family because she gets to know of GC's disapproval of Mantu? This would be such a heart breaking track. I definitely hope this isn't how it'll play out 😔
Do let me know what your thoughts are!
Character of the day - Mantu (for being such a love struck Romeo without overdoing it and also for standing up to GC and not taking his nonsense)
Nautanki of the day - GC. I'm getting tired of his lectures and high handed ness and the way he seems so disconnected and inconsistent in his thoughts and actions. They need to tighten up this character.
Dialogue of the day - when Mantu tells GC you seem to have grown in age but not in wisdom! Good one Mantu! And when Uma finally says "galthi hamari hai!"
Scene of the day - the sadist in me wants to give it to the scene when Uma jumps of the cliff for obvious reasons! But most definitely the Lal Ishq sequence - beautifully beautifully done!
