Exactly they were strong independent men, especially Mantu because he doesn't have parents like Rama's. And today their strong brave front that guarded them against all emotions and feelings like love have broken down. I mean not Rama actually, loving Rachi has made him stronger and soon Amaya's love will be Mantu's strength as well.
