NO belly dancing for Katrina kaif

Katrina Kaif and Saif Ali Khan starrer Phantoms first song Afghan Jalebi (Ya Baba) is out! And no this is not a happening number. When you have a Katrina Kaif in a song and she is not dancing then the song is definitely going to fail. Kabir Khan's last film with Kat had the sexy song Mashallah. Katrina's belly dancing and Salman Khan's mere presence lit up the screen, but this one has neither. While the music is just fine, the song itself fails to make an impression and here's why...

# All you can see in this video is Katrina Kaif covered in a black woolen blanket and under that the actress sports an outfit that is best left unexplained (a bandwala uniform with a designer twist). All Kat does is flaunt her famous sexy pout and one expression. What is bizarre is the way the actress seats herself in a upright position on a chair amidst all the dancers. The whole set up and Katrina in it looks so off!

#Pritam's music fails. The song is a bad mash up of Saif Ali Khans Agent Vinod number Pungi and Kabir's own Ek Tha Tiger song Mashallah. The singer, Syed Asrar Shah delivers his best. However the song is not a hummable number and hence might not really strike a chord.

#The only saving grace in this otherwise ignorable number are the belly dancers. The ladies do a fab job and make you wonder why Katrina, who had grooved earlier in Kabir's film did not insist on dancing in this song. Had Katrina Kaif danced, we're certain that people would have ignored all that doesn't work and focused on the babes killer moves!

Sad this is what BW audience expect from videos only these days. Didn't see anything wrong with. It was quite refreshing to see ... The female character came out looking stronger; without baring skin and dancing.

Seriously? If they made her dance in the video it would be completely out of character! Pretty sure the scene during which it'll be played in the movie required her to just stand there. What a bunch of dumbos who wrote this article 😕

It would had been out of character for her to dance . The clapping dancing is inspired from afgani folk music , it wasnt part of mashallah or pungi. The song was good and catchy. One of the best song come out this year.
