Two days later, Thursday morning

Khurana Constructions - Maan's Office

Maan was in a meeting with his finance head, Aditya, design head, Karan, and another architect Sasha. He was discussing the newest project that they had obtained.

"Guys I had a meeting with Mr. Rengsi, the hotelier, yesterday. He wants us to make a resort for his chain in Shillong. As you know he is famous for his ideas, his uniqueness and the ambience, so the unique feature of this resort is that it's going to be a half hanging resort..."

"Hanging as in the air, protruding from the hills...?" Sasha interrupted him

"Yes exactly like that... so moving on here is this file it has the basic information... what I need from you Karan and Sasha is a rough idea of how we can go about... I understand we've never done something like this before but I assume we can all take a challenge on the chin...?" Maan asked to which they nodded their acceptance

"And Adi I want you to go over the details with them and try to work out the cost so that we can present Mr. Rengsi with a rough draft... though the pitch is just a formality and this project is ours... but still we need to woo him and also maintain our standards... right...?" Maan asked pointedly to Adi who seemed not so attentive. Once he was sure he had everyone's attention he continued "And once these formalities are over... we need to go see and work on the site in the next week or so... okay... so let's get started we don't have much time... I don't need to say but still keep me in the loop on it especially if there is anything that needs attention..."

The trio were shuffling out at the end of the meeting when Maan asked Adi to stay back. "What's wrong... you've been distracted during the whole meeting... and you've been acting strange like more aware, conscious of your surroundings... what's up... is everything okay...?"

"No everything's fine... all's well..."

"Yeah right... that's why you keep looking around and get startled at the faintest of sound..."

"Fine... actually I don't know why but... a... eh... you know it's probably my imagination but... emm... well I feel as if someone's watching me like all the time..." Adi told him hesitantly

Maan trying to suppress his grin said "Of course you're being watched... you've been watched from the moment you stepped into this building all those years ago..."

"What... you've had me on surveillance... why... for what reason... do you not trust me... you think I'm some sort of criminal or something... you do know me better than that we been friend for like forever..." Adi let out his steam indignantly

"Wow... you misunderstanding me... I'm talking about the security system in the whole office premises... I know it's not exactly common knowledge but you do know we have 27x7 CCTV surveillance in the office... right...?" Maan cleared the air

"Abbe gaddhe... maine kab kaha ki mujhe office ke CCTV se problem hai..."

"Abhi toh..."

"What I'm saying is I feel as if I'm being followed... stalked...?" Adi cut Maan

"What why would someone be following you... that's weird..." Maan said and then contemplated before adding "do you think it's something to do with any of our business rivals... you know like following you trying to lure you at a lonely place and get confidential details... you are the finance head on all major projects..."

"Why do you think I'm so worried..."

"Well I'll get Roy to look into the matter... till then be careful..."

"Cool... see you later... gonna work on this" Adi said before leaving.

Maan nodded and picked up the phone to discuss the issue with Roy, his head of security.

Next day

Khurana Constructions

Walking into the building the following day Roy caught Maan at the door to his office. "What's up...?" Maan asked, sitting behind his desk.

Roy smiled eagerly "It about Aditya's stalker"

"You found out about it in just half a day...?"

"Ahaan... and I think you should meet the stalker..."

Sitting back in his chair, Maan considered all the facts. It'll be better if he confronts the stalker himself after all id the company is affected in any possible way... who else better to handle it. "Okay Roy... get him in here... I'll call Adi as well and we can get this over and done with... I have an important lunch appointment that I don't wanna cancel or be late for... so is it possible to get him here in say another hour...?" Maan asked, while browsing through his calendar.

"You got it boss" Roy nodded and left.

Yoga Center

Geet and Sakshi were attending their daily yoga class. As against protocol both were talking today while doing the surya namaskaar.

"Geet... you remember our lunch appointment today...?"

"Yeah"

"Well... it's cancelled..."

"Why... what happened..."

"I'm not sure... he didn't give me a proper reason but just that something urgent has come up that he can't make it..."

"Why didn't he give you a proper reason... does he have something to hide...?" Geet asked skeptically

"Of course not... might be busy with his office work na..."

"But he could say that na... I'm busy with office' ... Saks I'm telling you kuch panga hai... we should find out and not trust him blindly... mera plan is perfect for it"

"Geetu... what plan...?" Sakshi asked Geet, fear building up inside her

"Arrey why worry when I'm here" Geet exclaimed with pride

"Uski ka to darr hai... What did you do...? I'm sure now that you've done something... come on you were supposed to meet him today before the families met on Sunday... Geet I know you inside out and I'm sure you did something to him... otherwise why would he cancel so abruptly after you have a "plan" for him..." Sakshi questioned her

"Babes breathe... now why would I do anything stupid... I'm thrilled for you... I was looking forward to meeting him today... and why would I do anything to undermine your budding relationship..."

"I don't know... who knows what goes on in that brain of yours... and after all you are 'Dennis the menace' personified..."

"Hey... aisa kuch nai kiya... and as it is Dennis se bhi mistake se trouble hota tha..."

"Geeet... what did you do..."

"Fine... I'll tell you..."

On hearing about her friend's antics, Sakshi's body jerked out of the posture and she tried to stop her fall, but couldn't quite manage it. She toppled gracelessly onto the floor with a loud hmph'. She pulled herself up and dusted her bottom, glaring at her "You did what..." she snapped at her, while both of them got a warning for disturbing the whole class.

Sakshi gave up on the relaxing session of yoga to fix up the current mess, "Urrgghh... now I'm gonna have to fix it, who does such things...?"

"Well... I was concerned for you... aur jo mujhe theek laga maine kiya... what if..." Geet retorted, but Sakshi cut her off saying bye and left with Geet staring at the back.

Khurana Constructions

Maan's Office

Maan was seated at his desk with Adi sitting at the other side and Roy standing along with a man, who apparently had been stalking Aditya for the past couple of days according to Roy.

"Who are you and why have you been watching and following Aditya" Maan questioned in a cold hard voice

The man replied "I don't know any Aditya and I have not been following anybody for that matter... and I would like to know why have been brought here forcefully... I know the law... this is not right you can't send thugs and just force people to do your bidding..."

"So you say you haven't seen this man before in your life... have you" Maan questioned him while pointing at Adi.

"No"

"Then why do I have a picture that says otherwise..." Maan says in a voice even colder than before while tossing a couple of pictures on his face which clearly showed that man watching Adi intently.

"Errmm... umm... emm... what do I know... these may be falsified by you..." the man stammered back

"Falsified..." Maan repeated in a voice colder than the arctic "Hey you mister... you know what I can play this game all day... but I don't have the time to waste it on you so let's get to the point... I know for a fact that you are a private investigator... so tell me who hired you and why... and don't even think about lying to me..."

"I..." the man started when he was cut off due to a sudden banging of the door. Everyone's gaze shifted from the man to the door which had been swung open harshly.

"It's not his fault he was just doing his job... and the reason he was sent was me... just let him go... he doesn't have any bad intentions for doing what he did..." the young girl, new entrant at the door, burst into an incoherent speech while the others, but one, were just trying to figure out just who she was and who let her in... and how the heck is she involved in all this. But the one who knew her was staring, with wide round eyes like that of an owl, as if she had grown two horns.

"Who are you and who let you in...?" Maan questioned and instantly Adi counter questioned her "Why you are here... and how the heck are you involved with this PI...?"

On hearing Adi question her, Maan looked at him curiously "You know her..."

"Yeah... Maan this is the girl I told you about, Sakshi... and Sakshi this is Maan my oldest and my best friend Maan..."

Maan smiled and then looked from Adi to the PI to Sakshi then mumbled almost to himself "Interesting..." but then widened his smile greeting Sakshi "Hi... how are you..."

Sakshi conscious of all the eyes fixed on her "Hi... uummm... I'm sorry for barging in like that..."

"No problem as long as you help us understand why... and also your involvement with this shady PI" Maan offered her

"Hey... I'm not shady alright... and I have nothing to do with this woman... it's a first I've ever seen her..." the PI making his presence obvious again

"Well... he's right... I don't know him as such... its actually... kinda complicated... Adi can I speak to you alone in private... I can explain everything..."

"Sakshi if its regarding this PI following me then you can say it here in front of them... they're already involved..." Adi assured her

"Well he was hired to follow you around and investigate you... kind of to check whether you are the person you project you are... if you have any skeletons hidden in your closet..." Sakshi was explaining when Maan jumped in between "Hey who are you to invade his privacy and this is nasty of you to do this..."

"I didn't invade his privacy... and if you know that we are looking at marriage between us... it's a given that not only me but my whole family knows everything about him... for your information that's how arrange marriages work in India..." Sakshi retorted to his accusation

"Yeah but usually you don't sic a PI on the prospective groom..." Maan countered

"When did I say we do... anyway that's why I was here... to explain some things if you don't mind..." she said before turning to Adi "Aditya, I'm sorry for the scene... I didn't mean to come here to make a mess of this situation... I came here to apologize for this PI thing... actually you remember my friend I told you about the one you were meeting at lunch today..."

"Yeah... but I don't understand what she has to do with this..." Adi asked, trying hard to connect the dots

"Actually she is the one who hired him... I told her about you a couple of days ago... and her overactive imagination and protective instinct made her do this... she was the one who wanted assurances on you... I'm sorry she just told me when I told her you cancelled today..."

"Lemme get this straight... you told your best friend about Adi and she being concerned about you hired this douchebag to check him out...?" Maan summarized her explanation earning few muffled giggles from Roy which left Adi laughing on Geet's concern for Sakshi

Adi controlling himself asked Sakshi "How about we discuss this in more detail and if you're forgiven over lunch along with this bodyguard friend of yours..."

"Sure... I'd love that... so I'll meet you at lunch... sorry again for barging in..."

Adi took Sakshi's hand to lead her out while nodding at Maan that said Later'. Adi left the cabin leaving Maan gaping at his retreating back.
