CHAPTER-1.
"ROAD TO NOWHERE.."
"Chashni!!!MY Chashni!!!I love you Chashni!!!"Sam hugged her tight,while Radhika hugged her tight back,and Neil giving her a wink from behind,before hugging them both together.
"OUR Chashni!!!I love you twice more than Samandar Baandar Chashni!!!"Neil hugged them both tight,and squeezed hard making both the girls squeal and laugh out.
The hug being followed by a good beating of Sam's Idiot by none other than Sam herself,while a teary eyed Radhika stood smiling at them.
"Chashni is mine!"Sam screamed as she chased Neil,while Neil avoided her expertly as he ran away.
"Not in this life!Chashni is mine!"Neil shouted back as he kept running.
Radhika looked on until she saw a lorry approaching Neil from the opposite side of the road.
"NEIL!!!"She screamed in warning as she saw Neil being hit by the lorry.
SPLASH!!!!!
Radhika closed her eyes as the lorry sped past her,drowning her in rain and mud water from the puddle on the road,as she stood breathing heavily by the winding road.
She opened her eyes and blinked,trying to see where she had last seen Neil before he got hit.Nothing..There was no Sam too..No one was there..It had all been a dream..!!!A memory..!!!
From not too far she heard the ringing of the bells from the temple,where her life had changed.As if it was echoing the memories of her now gone past.Rain still fell down her wet mud splattered form clad in the now nearly destroyed wedding lehenga..Her hairs were askew now,and her kohl rimmed eyes were nearly blood shot with her crying.
Radhika stood still for a few moments trying to get a grip of things,but it was not really working..She was not sure how she had ended up by this road,nor when she had walked out of the temple.
She was lost in her beautiful memories of yesterdays,and suddenly now she felt she had been wrenched back to the reality with a ferocious jerk.She looked at the spot where she had seen her friends last.The same friends who now hated her.The same friends,who thought she had betrayed them..Gone..Everything was gone..And for good..
Radhika felt the strange choking feeling growing in her heart again,and slowly constricting her throat..Cool breeze splattered more rain water onto her,as the sky went on pouring its watery content on the earth..
The distant sky was darkening as dusk approached,and some lights had come on,when Radhika looked down at the puddle she had just been splashed with mud water from.
She saw the moving reflection of a broken looking girl in a wedding attire staring back at her.She could see the mangalsutra dangling from her throat,and the bangles on her hand..And she could also see the deep red vermillion on the middle parting of her hair..
Something tugged hard at her inside..Hard and fast..And she took in a sharp breath,as she looked harder at her reflection..
She saw Arjun sir behind her too..But he was not looking at her with that caring look that he had been giving her..He looked at her with hatred too..Loathing..His face was nothing but a Mirror image of what she had seen at the temple.He hated her too..
Radhika bit her lips,as she tried to hold back the rising tide of pain within her..She was suddenly standing on a strange abyss with nowhere to go..The road ahead seemed all dark and bleak to her..No lights from anywhere directed her to any point whatsoever.She was stuck in a whirlwind of darkness.Somewhere out there,there had once been a tomorrow for her,a road to somewhere for her,but it was gone..She stood now,on the Road To NOWHERE..
SPLASH!!!
A car honked loudly,as it sped and swerved past her,and the muddy water was splashed onto her once again,as the driver called her names loudly for standing on the road.And this time when Radhika closed her as the dirty waters splashed onto her,tears started falling from her eyes again,and she bit her lips hard till she winced in pain,and yet she could not stop the sob from escaping her lips..
And that was how she started walking away from the temple..On the Road To Nowhere..
Arjun was not sure what broke his trance..Was it the ringing of the temple bell?Or was it something else..He suddenly felt something was leaving him altogether.Something was going out of his grasp.
He looked around,and went rigid when he did not see her around..
WHERE WAS SHE?!!!
He could see a crowd of people entering and leaving the temple but she was nowhere near and far in sight..!
Arjun looked up at the darkening sky and cursed himself loudly.He was so lost in his own pain filled world,that he had walked a bit away from her and had been sitting lost in his tormented thoughts..It had seemed and still seemed he had uprooted his own life with his own very hands.
He had always seemed in a dark murky land,but suddenly with his di leaving him like that it had felt like he was drowned in utter bleak never ending darkness.No one and nothing seemed to have mattered to him,as he swam in the unbearable darkness,looking for a light or a way out.It was as if someone or something had been lighting his way,and suddenly it had all been taken away from him.And Arjun just did not know how to fight his way out.
But now,all of a sudden something had pulled him out of the darkness..He did not know what it was,but he only knew he had to find her!It was dire that he did!No matter how much he loathed her..-!
Even the thought of it pained and twisted his insides into knots,as he hitched in a sharp breath.
Arjun closed his eyes and tried to get a grip on himself.Trying to steady his nerves as quickly as he could.
Even as he did so,he clenched his hand into tight fists,as the continuous drizzling rain soaked him through his now drenched sherwani,and his nostrils flared as he could not stop his heart from hammering crazily.
He loathed her alright,but she was still his!HIS alone!HIS to loathe to his heart's content,but he could not let that Saral scoundrel come even within an inch of her!And he was terrified that might have happened!
Clenching his jaw tightly with rage building up within him,as he had the image of the scoundrel ogling His Radhika,Arjun was soon on his way to his car in no time.He had to find her..And NOW!!!
Radhika walked as if in a trance.She was not sure where he walked to,or what her aim was.But she just walked on,as the drizzling rain soon changed to big fat downpour once again.Time seemed to be standing still for her,a bleak empty darkness was all she felt within her,and that was all she saw as she walked ahead not caring where her fee took her.
Could she even face her own parents after this?How could she?!They would be destroyed..!
Her Ankush bhaia and her poor Dadaji would die..And all because of her..!Because she could not help them..!Because SARAL-..
Radhika felt her eyes getting blurred as she tried to look at the dark road ahead.It was getting darker still,and she could feel her world spinning and spinning..Her body was already too heavy a weight to carry for her,and she did not even wince when a sharp stone dug into her naked sole.
The pain within her was already too much to carry,and further physical pain did not matter to her anymore..Not anymore..
Radhika felt her breathing getting shallower and shallower,as her vision started dimming,until she saw a sudden flash of white light infront of her eyes.It was coming closer and closer..
And then..Everything went blank..
The Road To NOWHERE ended over here for her.This was the last thought in her mind before she fell down on the hard wet road,as rain drops splattered over and all round her.
SCREECH!!!
Arjun skidded his car to a stop at the last moment,unable to believe that he had almost hit someone!
By the time he came out of the car,nearly all his life got out of him as he stared at the face of the person he supposedly loathed most..Or did he..?
He wondered again as his heart gave a painful squeeze just before he ran upto her and scooped her up into his arms.She seemed unharmed luckily,as he placed her on the passenger seat and buckled her up.
"Radhika..?Radhika?!!"He called softly as he sprinkled some water onto her unconscious face,his breath held in tension.
His eyes darkened as he softly patted her cheek to wake her up,unable to look away from her drastically changed face..How could a person's look change like this in a matter of few hours..?
It seemed as if someone had drained all the life out of her..And he did not need to think much,as to who it was,but he stifled the thought.But he could not drown the ache that grew within him..
She looked pale,entirely too pale for her own good..Her beautiful face was streaked with mud and dirt,and her beautiful hair now messed up as her bun now dangled half open behind her..
The only thing that stayed fixed in her looks were the mangalsutra that lay on her slowly moving bosom,and the dark red vermillion he had placed on her hair parting.The sign that she was his..HIS!
Even the thought made him grip her more possessively as he called her with added vigour.
"Radhika..?Open your eyes!Radhika..?"
The only response he got was when she moaned softly,and mumbled something..
Arjun quickly took his ears close to her lips to hear what she was saying,his heart beating like anything in pure undiluted worry.
And then she said it again..That was the same time his whole stance became still and pure rage took over him in place of the worry he had been feeling only a moment ago.
"Saral.."Radhika whispered once again,and this time Arjun let go of her hand that he had been holding,while he moved away from her as if she had scalded him.
Minutes passed,when the hatred again took over his heart for her.Pure undiluted hatred..
So when Arjun finally got in the car and drove away,he turned only once to give her a long hatred filled look.
It was not pain he felt anymore.Not pain at all.But loathing at himself and her.
Loathing at himself,for he still could not let her go,no matter what..
Loathing at her,for she was responsible for the mess he was now in..
Even as he felt the hatred seeping through his veins,his heart gave a terrified squeeze when he hit the break hard once,and instinctively his hand went to pull her lolling head to safety before it hit the side window.Then unable to stop himself however,he moved a lock of lose hair strands off her face,tucking them behind her ear gently,before he slowly caressed her dirt smeared soft cheek with his rough fingers.
And then Arjun was back concentrating on his driving again,on his way to somewhere unknown..Destiny had tied them together,but he did not intend to let her go,no matter how much he loathed her..He would be together with her,in whatever turns they came across on this road..He intended to face them all together,on this very road..Even though he knew it was the Road To NOWHERE..
