For Sarla, her mother Shantidevi is only an ATM - Any Time Money!
Not just money, she fleeces even gold whenever she can.
There is no real love for her mother, she tolerates and feigns respect only so her source of money is not shut off. Shanti doesn't really know this about her daughter and nor does she know about the betrayal she is doing against Riya. But lately she has been noticing something fishy in her daughter.
When Sarla comes to know that Shivam went to drop off Turmeric water for the bride, all hell breaks loose and she knocks off the hot tea and acts as if she got burnt from it. Shanti does notice Sarla's behavior.
Eventhough Shanti humiliates Renu for Sarla's sake, she does know Sarla's demand was not required.
Next Sarla takes Revenge on Renu by tearing apart the sarees that were to be given as gift by Renu. Shanti realizes something is not right and hence will not be ready to let Sarla check on the saree in front of everyone. But she does nothing to stop Sarla from going ahead with her actions. Sarla once again humiliates Renu but she does so only so her beloved daughter is not seen in the bad light.
In today's episode, when Sarla is supposed to be in the house where all the marriage preparations are happening for her son, she is running around like a headless chicken trying to plot a kidnap drama to stop the groom's father & relatives from coming to the house. Shanti notices even this.
Shanti has been noticing Sarla's act.
But Sarla is hell bent on pulling a rug over her own mother, a shrewd lady herself.
Sarla is not just trying to hide the fact that it is Shivam who Riya loves and assuming she is marrying, but also about the money she demanded from Riya's father!
Until now Shanti has been siding with Sarla even though she knows something is wrong. But will she continue to take her side when she knows about these 2 betrayals, one to Riya & her family, and one to Shanti herself?
