Chapter 39 He woke up feeling something on his body. Lazily opening his eyes, he found her sleeping on his chest as if she never moved in her sleep. Her arm was carelessly thrown over his stomach and he was no less as his arm had protectively held her. He smiled at her sleeping figure and tried to move her away from him, so he could get up. But as he tried to lift her arm off him, she tightened her grip on him making him stay still in his spot.
"How sweet..." he quietly said as she refused to let him go in her sleep.
He ran his hand over her head. He noticed her trying to move away her hair from her face in her sleep and as she settled back in his arms, he slowly moved her hair away from her face. Tucking in her locks behind her ear, he looked at the smile on her face. No matter what she always smiled in her sleep, he wondered what she dreamt about that that curve was always on her face. He didn't care what he was, but he loved it for making her so happy at least in her sleep/
"Never let this smile fade away..." he whispered to her sleeping form.
Her smile seemed to be everything at the moment. He found himself staring at her smiling face for a while. And soon his admiration for her smile become something else. His eyes stayed on her lips. Unknowingly he brought her head closer to his. He didn't know what to call it, but he found himself wanting to stop this moment. He wanted her in his arms and in her peaceful slumber while he stared at her beauty. And without realizing he caressed her soft lips making her smile wider than before. He let his thumb stay on the corner of her lip as he brought his face closer to hers.
She had such an angelic face he couldn't help, but be attracted to her beauty. He had told her she was beautiful whenever she had dressed up, but what she didn't know what he loved this look of hers the most. Every day when he was lucky enough to wake up before her hen they were facing each other when they woke up, he found himself spending time simply looking at her. She was the prettiest in this form; her carefree face shining with a glow and her smile brightening it up further. She seemed at peace and it gave his heart a moment of contentment.
His smiling face went dull as she stirred in her sleep slowing opening her eyes. Realization dawned over him. It doesn't seem right...it wasn't right. He wasn't supposed to be coming closer to her without her knowing. She told him just last night she had so much trust on him and he couldn't break it like this by crossing his boundaries while she was unaware. Trust was something very precious to her and she had once dealt with broken trust, he couldn't do it to her again.
He looked at her apologetically as her eyes opened and she found herself looking at him. She continued to look into his eyes as she felt his thumb lingering on her lips. She didn't know how to react to his touch and continued to stare at him while he thought she had taken him in the wrong way. She thought it could have been an accident and he didn't mean to for this to happen, so she tried to keep from embarrassing him, but needed him to know his thumb was on her lips.
"Raman..." she whispered closing her eyes looking down as her cheeks burned while he immediately moved away his hand. He couldn't have a conversation about what he just did and why, so he tried to turn her attention elsewhere for the time being...
"Wake up you lazy head. I've been waiting for so long." And his idea worked as she bit her tongue as she leaned over looking at the clock.
"Oops, I guess the alarm didn't go off neither did our second alarm wake up on time." She said referring to Ruhi as she moved away from him so he could get up. As he went to the bathroom to avoid any talk about what just happened to him, she crashed back onto the bed as she felt tired and had time before Ruhi woke up.

He came out showered and dressed though and found her sleeping again. Relieved she was resting and they he wouldn't have to talk about his slip a while back, he walked over to Ruhi's crib. He smiled as his daughter quietly played with her toys while her mother was fast asleep. But as he saw Ruhi, he remembered Ishita, Mihika, and Vandita's words from yesterday. And back came his tension of having to find another way out. He picked up Ruhi as she gurgled happily as he gave her a sloppy kiss and hugged her tightly.
He came out into the living room to find Mihika yawning in the kitchen as she texted while she boiled water for her tea. She noticed him when Ruhi squealed when he put her onto his play rug and walked away as if asking him to come back to her.
"Good morning." She said as he walked into the kitchen making coffee for himself.
"Morning." He said in a serious voice while he was still looking at Ruhi and thinking about Ishita.
"Akka's still sleeping?" She asked walking away with her tea.
"Yep, just let her be."
"Everything's alright."
"It's fine, why?" he looked up at her for the first time during their conversation.
"You seem tensed. And I think I know why."
"Why?" he said pouring his coffee into his mug.
"Jiju..."
"I know what you're going to ask, and I haven't be able to think of anything." He said as he sat down.
"Nothing at all?!"
"I thought..."
"And..."
"I first thought that we were heading back to Delhi soon and Maa is there to help out with. But I'm not sure. Maa has her own health problems and I don't want to have her running around after Ruhi even though she will agree happily. And then I thought of you."
"I understand about aunty, but me?"
"I thought of asking you to stay back at our place to be around to help Ishita...but then I know you're busy. You also have your own work to do and your own life, I can't ask you to just come over."
"Jiju, why do you think I would have a problem helping out you and Akka?"
"I know you don't have a problem, but you have your job and your own life as well. I wasn't sure if you would be okay with all this. And on top of that, I haven't talked to Ishita yet. Since yesterday she's been quite upset over all that's happened and I didn't want to bother her with all this."
"I'm always there for you guys. You need help with Akka, I'll be glad to come over for her. I know Ihave my job, but it's not all day long. I have a life, but I had the same before Akka got married and I still spent a lot of time with her and I can do the same now. But if you are having doubts on me fulfilling my responsibilities after yesterday then it's another thing..."
"No! Not at all! It's nothing like that, in fact I know you love your sister a lot. I once told Ishita how lucky she as to have you. I know it was a small slip from you when you ignored my call, but it happens. I was upset about it, but you know I can't really blame you can I? I know you would have rushed up the moment you knew something was wrong with her. But Mihika I don't even know if it would be right to ask you to come to our place...I mean your parents need to be talked to as well and I don't want them thinking I can't take care of their daughter. I promised them I wouldn't let Ishita face any problems and now look..."
"Jiju...don't worry about Amma and Appa, they saw how well you would take care of Akka the day you came with the proposal. Amma doesn't cry about Akka's pregnancy anymore and Appa sometimes boasts about his CEO son-in-law who also is a good family man. And about me, you talk to Akka and if she says yes, then I'll stay at your place when you need me to."
"You will?!"
"Of course. I've been saying that for like 10 minutes now! That is only if you and Akka agree. And also talk to Ruhi, she will somewhat be watched by me as well, so we needed to become friendly with each other." He chuckled at her statement and she laughed along as well while Ruhi glared at them.
"I'll talk to Ishita tonight and once we're back in Delhi, I'll talk to Maa as well and we'll try to work all this out."
"No problem. Just let me know what you decide even if it's not me watching over Akka and Ruhi."
"Mihika...thanks so much! I said it before and I'll say it again, Ishita's lucky to have a sister like you."
"That's what all sisters are for. And of course for you I'll say that's what salis are for because you're lucky to have me as your sister-in-law too." She joked as they both laughed and he got up to go to his daughter while Mihika cleared off the table.

A while later Raman sat on the floor playing with Ruhi as he had some time to kill before he wanted to work finishing off the last little meetings and legal formalities that needed to be done. He tried to teach her how to do a hi-five and earned a lot of smiles and laughter from his daughter. He really wished Ishita was there to complete this perfect morning moment with Ruhi, but he didn't want to face her after what he had done. And that's exactly when she had walked out clad in a light orange churidar adjusting her long hair as she tied it up into a ponytail.
"Good morning Raman!" she chirpily said.
"Good morning."
She came to them and sat down on the sofa by them as Mihika handed her a glass of juice. She looked at Raman as if wanting to talk to him. Realizing what the situation was, Mihika slowly walked to the dining area and sat down pretending to be engrossed on her phone.
"I can't talk to her right now. She could be upset about what I did." He thought to himself hence he kept a serious face on and looked away while Ishita saw him with Ruhi. She saw him hand Ruhi over to Mihika before giving her a serious look that she couldn't understand once again, and so she assumed...
"Seems like Raman's still upset about me hiding the truth & not watching over myself..." she thought to herself.
She wanted to explain to him once again why she did what she did...
"Raman...whatever happened ..." he thought she would bring up the morning incident and so...
"Not now Ishita. I have to rush, we'll talk in the evening." He cut her off handing and rushed out before she could say anything else to him. On the other hand, Ishita thought though he said he was no longer mad about her hiding business, but he seemed to be disappointed and she bit her nail as she thought about what to do...
"I have to do something to make it up to him..."
