There have been some applause-worthy performances by actresses in the first-half of 2015 - from Kangana Ranaut in "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" and Anushka Sharma in "NH10" to Bhumi Pednekar in "Dum Laga Ke Haisha," "Deepika Padukone in "Piku" and Priyanka Chopra in "Dil Dhadakne Do."
In a poll conducted by India-West, we asked audiences to vote for who they think has been the "most powerful performer of 2015 First-half," and Deepika won the poll, with 53 per cent of the votes, for her organic, heart-warming and easy performance as "Piku" - an independent girl taking care of her father.
Interestingly, her beau Ranveer Singh won the "most powerful male performance" poll for "Dil Dhadkne Do."
Priyanka got 26.7 per cent of the votes for her nuanced portrayal of Ayesha Mehra, successful entrepreneur and a non-confrontational daughter and wife, who is trying to break free from the norms laid out for her as a woman.
Anushka's fierce act in "NH10," where she goes from a regular urban girl to a violent killer, got her 16.2 per cent of the votes.
Interestingly, Kangana, who has scored a blockbuster with her entertaining and masterful act in "Tanu Weds Manu Returns," received only 3.8 per cent of the total votes.
