I have downloaded the MP3s of all the songs sung by Raja, burnt them on a CD and now I listen to Raja whenever I am driving.

Saying that the songs are all wonderful will be an understatement. You can listen to them times and again. His singing touches your soul - so much that you feel like closing your eyes to absorb all that you are getting. All his future CDs (God willing, there will be many) should come out with a hazard warning that you are not supposed to listen to Raja when you are driving. 😊

When you tap a glass half filled with water with a small steel spoon, you get a beautiful sound. In our villages, we use these 'matkas' made of clay to store water. When the 'matka' is empty and has never been used, it produces a beautiful sound if you tap it with your finger with a ring on. I have seen folk artists performing 'Jal-tarang' and 'Matka-Waadan'. Trust me - it is beautiful beautiful music.

When you listen to Raja, you get an impression that this kind of lovely melodious music is always playing somewhere. It is inherent in his voice. It is like he is not only singing the words out, he is also playing a constant 'Jal-tarang' while doing so. What you get in the end is a song which is not only of the highest musical quality and but which also clings to your soul. This is something unique. I haven't noticed this in any other singer in a long long time.

My random thoughts ...

random thoughts but very nicely spoken buddy. esp. the highlited para, just mentioning of those things gives you a good rustic feeling which raja oozes out in his singing. and yes he has got this amazing knack to create an ambience whenever he sings.

my all time fav. is "maa tujhe salaam" and perhaps one of the best best one in this contest as of date....

Memory goes back to my school time when on 15 Aug and 26th Jan there was flag hoisting... it feels like flag is going up and up on pole(like Raja's voice going higher notes up and up) and then flag opened and started flowing(Like Raja still singing on higher notes after going there)

I also did not find that feeling in long long time, there are so many great singers in industry but nobody can bring that feeling to soul...

Nice comparison with flag-hoisting. That's why he is called Raja Hindustani 😊
