Huntsville, Al— On August 18, 2007, the American Cancer Society will celebrate its 3rd Annual A Summer Lights Celebration gala. The event will celebrate survivorship and honor the lives of two heroic individuals from the Huntsville community--cancer survivors Gerald G. Tucker and Meg Ingram. Tucker is a two time cancer survivor—melanoma in 1999 and colon cancer in 2002. Ingram was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2006.

This summer's event will feature a gourmet dinner, music, live and silent auctions, and an honoree reception. Auction items include fabulous jewelry, dinner for 8 prepared by Martina McBride's personal chef, trip to Firestone Vineyards of Santa Barbara, California, special packages for Alabama and Auburn football games, variety of special dinners, and an amazing playhouse that will bring joy to any little one.

"This year's gala is going to be a great event. We have so many special items in both the live and silent auctions. Many of the items are one-of-a-kind. But the most special part of the evening will be when we pay tribute to this year's honorees, Gerald Tucker and Meg Ingram," said Debra Wymer, event chair.

The Von Braun Civic Center's North Hall will open its doors to guests at 6 p.m. Tickets to A Summer Lights Celebration are $100 per person and can be purchased by contacting the American Cancer Society, Huntsville Office at 256.536.1863 or by calling 1-800-ACS-2345.

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service. 😉
