Chapter 11

Wedding Dress Store:

Zoya: Mr. Khan, I will choose what you are gonna wear. You can choose mine if you want.

Asad nodded, imagining her dressed in a red bridal dress.

After one hour, she still hadn't found one of her choice. Asad was frustrated beyond measure.

Zoya: MIL GAYA!!!

Asad winced at her loud voice. He looked at the sherwani she was holding, and smiled. He liked it.

Zoya: It's perfect, isn't it?

Asad: Yes.

He felt the softness of the material with his fingers, and then looked at the price tag. It said 50,000 bucks.

Asad: Zoya, let's take something else.

Zoya: Why? You don't like it?

Asad: It's good, but the price is too much.

Zoya: Come on Mr. Khan, you are going to marry only once in your life!

Asad: Yes I know, but I am not gonna waste so much money for the sake of it.

Zoya: Mr. Khan but-

Asad: Zoya, our nikah won't get any worse if I don't take this. What we are gonna wear doesn't matter. And just think, we can spend that money on people who need it, on little kids who need help.

Zoya: I know but-

Asad: Zoya this life has taught me this thing pretty clearly-never misutilize anything. Every single penny is important. I can't forget the days we used to go hungry because we didn't even have a single penny.

Zoya put a hand on his shoulder.

Zoya: Mr. Khan I understand. But please, let me get this for you. Please, consider it a gift from me.

Asad: Zoya it's not about my money or yours. What I mean is-

Zoya: I understand what you mean, but the deal was that I get your wedding dress. So, please don't say anything more. I really want to see you in this sherwani in our nikah. Please Mr. Khan I promise this is the last time I am doing this. Please!

She looked at him with her puppy face, and he relented with a sigh.

Now it was time for him to choose the dress for her. He was done selecting in five minutes.

Zoya beamed at him. She liked it! Asad smiled at her.

Zoya: Mr. Khan it is costly as hell. We can get something else.

Asad looked down at her, and saw the little bit of disappointment she was trying to hide. Hesmiled.

Asad: My gift, my choice.

Zoya smiled.

Night:

Asad asked to sleep with his Ammi and Tamatar, while Zoya slept with Appi and Jeeju.

Next Day:

The Khan Mansion was decorated like a bride. Around ten-fifteen people were talking around. Everyone was dressed in exotic clothes and smiling. You could see Jeeju and Rashid talking to each other. Few of Asad's employees sat together sharing jokes. The Qazi was sitting in a corner. Dilshad was answering something to Hallo Khala. A group of her friends sat around Asad fussing over him. Like you already know, he was looking like the most gorgeous groom. The glow on his face only added to it. And nobody missed the frequent glances he was stealing at the stairs. Ayan sat near Asad, with another guy who had a kinda atheletic look about him.

Ayan: Ashok Bhai aap bhi koi ladki dekho jaldi se!

The guy Ashok *starring Mohit Raina as Ashok* just smiled.

Ayan: Bhai perfect best friends ho aap!

Asad ruffled his hair.

Ayan: Lo Bhai, finally your waiting time is over. Aapki pari aa gayin!

Everyone turned to look at the bride descending down the stairs. She was surrounded by Appi, Najma, Nikhat, Nuzhat and Humaira. Her face was hidden behind a veil, but you would be easily mesmerized by the elegance of her way of walking and the way she carried herself so gracefully in a wedding dress. Her eyes found Asad sitting among a bunch of ladies and she smiled. She liked the look on his face, yes!

As they moved to sit in their respective positions, Asad murmured to her:

"Jeans?"

"Negative."

"Really?"

"Yep."

"Wow."

"Just trying something new."

"I am impressed.""

"Obviously."

Humaira: Bahut ho gaya baat karna Jeeju!

Ayan: Jeeju? Hello Madam, tum pahle kise janti thi?

Humaira: Zoya Appi pahle humari Appi hain, then Asad Jeeju hain.

Ayan: Kya bol rhi"

Humaira: I think you should arrange that bird's nest first.

Ayan gaped at her, while the others laughed aloud.

Zoya: (putting a hand around Humaira's shoulder and pulling her closer) Dekha sister kiski hai!

Ayan: Bhai aapko koi aur ladki nai mili ishq jatane ko? Is dayan ko toh-

Humaira: Ayan!

Everyone laughed again. Asad, Appi, Jeeju & Dilshad looked at Zoya and Humaira. Those two girls had met only two hours ago, and already were more than sisters. Only if they knew the truth! And if they came to know, well they didn't want to think about it.

"Asad Ahmed Khan, kya appko Zoya Farooqui se nikah qubool hai?"

"Qubool Hai."

"Zoya Farooqui, kya aapko Asad Ahmed Khan se nikah qubool hai?"

"Qubool Hai."

...

"Qubool Hai."

"Qubool Hai."

And with the third time, the qazi announced that the marriage was commenced now. They were husband and wife now. Zoya Farooqui was Zoya Asad Ahmed Khan Farooqui. Everyone was all smiles and congratulating each other.

Asad and Zoya then said their final vows.

Zoya: I, Zoya, offer you myself in marriage in accordance with the instructions of the Holy Quran and the Holy Prophet, peace and blessing be upon him. I pledge, in honesty and with sincerity, to be for you an obedient and faithful wife.

Asad: I pledge, in honesty and sincerity, to be for you a faithful and helpful husband.
