Many people think Amit was first and Prashant was second during the last elimination. But this excerpt from the Deccan Chronicle, published on 15 September, suggests that Prashant has garnered more votes than Amit.
''Prashant's popularity is simply amazing. In 12 gala rounds he didn't find himself in the danger zone even once. On the other hand, Amit Paul, a wild card entry, has landed in the danger zone twice. While at times Prashant has got three times higher votes, in the last two weeks Amit has done a lot of catching up with Prashant.''

So why was Amit vindicated out of the danger zone first? Well this bolsters the conspiracy theory that Sony desperately wants Amit to win, and irrespective of the votes. I have read people strongly objecting against the conspiracy theories. But this is nothing new in the media world. Few months earlier it was revealed that BBC, the world's must trusted media, had declared fake winners in 7 of its very popular competitions during the last two years. One of the competition was a charity show called sport's relief which is one of the most respected yearly charity events of the United Kingdom. Later the media regulator called OFCOM found that other channels like ITV , Channel 4 had also manipulated the voting result in various telephone based competitions. There are also compelling reports published in American media, regarding the manipulation of results to oust Melinda doolitle from the top 3.
All the above evidences can estabilish the fact that TV channels can and do manipulate competition results.
We also have to take notice of discriminatory demeanours of judges, guests and anchors against Prashant. Javed Akhtar has always criticized Prashant with all his literary mights when he has sang little bad, but seldom praised him when he sang superb.
Alisha Chinoy. The mid life crisis woman is after a hot good looking bloke throughout the series. First Suhit, then Chang and now Amit. Everybody has noticed this and I don't have to elaborate more.
Anu Malik. His best singer is Emon. And he rates Amit and Prashant not much differently. He has been very consistent in picking the good and the bad of singers, no matter how bossy he has tried to be towards other judges.
Udit Narayan. The mr funny gentleman has been a flip flop. But his Shers have meaning that only Prashant's fan can understand. When he says mitti, when he says gahera taalab, there is a subtle meaning that goes beyond the comprehension of others. This is the result of not letting him praise Prashant wholeheartedly. But I must be honest that Udit favours Prashant slightly more and Amit has been wrongly criticized on one of the galas. But since then he has paid the price for speaking his mind.
As for yesterday's show, Bipasha was way too lopsided in favour of Amit. A celebrity of her standard should have maintained little bit of equality. Full marks to John Abraham for his unbiased statement in the end. Bipasha's mother also showed her true colours.
Hussain. The guy is brilliant. He has cried for Emon. May be he loved him as his younger brother. But for the rest of the time, he has been fair.
Mini. She is a girl afterall. And girls cannot hold their emotions. She has shown her favouritism towards Chang, Emon and Amit many times. Her favouritism is expressed in every alternate sentence she speaks.
The whole show has presented Amit lot more favourably than Prashant. But whether or not the result is already fixed can be known only after getting access to the results. This can happen only if the case is taken to the court. If either of Amit's or Prashant's fan smell manipulation, they must take Sony BMG to the high court to find the truth. Hope the contestant who gets more votes is declared the winner.
