| Kathmandu: Unlike other concerts, the crowd this time consisted of all age groups. Everyone had come to watch their favourite contestants of Indian Idol 3 perform live at the 'Icons and Idols' concert at Pulchowk Engineering College on September 15. The excitement was 'loud and clear' as the road leading to the college was packed with vehicles. The opening act was done by Nepali icon Anil Singh, who created the mood for the concert. Though the popular numbers generated a good response, the crowd seemed to be eager for the guest performers. And to everyone's delight the stage was taken over by Charu Semwal. The exhilaration among the crowd especially the boys proved the popularity of the star among the Nepalis. Charu entertained the crowd with songs like Suraj hua madham, It's rocking and Tune o rangeelay and others. Then Emon Chatterji who was welcomed with a huge round of applause. He wowed the crowd with songs like Teri deewani, Khai ke paan Banarasi wala and Mitwa. He made every person sing along with him. Deepali Kishore started with her favourite song Jab chaye mera jadoo, and she was successful in controlling the audiences even during a technical problem with her talks about Prashant. She sang Mera piya ghar aya and Dhol bajne laga and ended her performance with a duet song Bin tere sanam with Meiyang Chang. As soon as Chang made his way to the stage, girls could not stop screaming his name. Singing popular songs like Pehla nasa, Batein kuch ankahe si and Musu Musu, he was successful in winning all hearts. The crowd was then informed that it was Parleen Gill's birthday and everyone sang the birthday song for him. Along with Chang, he sang Mujh se shadi karogi for all the girls present. The girls of course screamed 'yes!' Completing his performance with Bheege hoth, Adat, Main hu Don and Dus bahane, he also asked the crowd, "Tapai haru kasto hunu hunchha? (How are you all?)" to everyone's amusement. Then Ankita Mishra's fast numbers like O Saki saki, Golmaal, Piya tu and Sajna ve wari wari made the crowd scream for more. The show ended with Nima Rumba crooning his popular numbers, which was very well received by the audience. The event was being organised by Mero Mobile in association with Soaltee Crowne Plaza and the event was managed by Partynepal and DMI. |
