Rabindranath Tagore wrote a poem, "Karna Kunti Sangbad" based on the meeting of Karna and Kunti before the war. Karna also has been topic of various contemporary literary works. The Marathi books of Radheya (1973) authored by Ranjit Desai and Mrityunjay (1967) authored by Shivaji Sawant bring forth Karna's private and personal life on paper.[58] Sawant also received Moortidevi Award, instituted by Bharatiya Jnanpith, for his work[59] and was translated into nine languages.[60]Ramdhari Singh Dinkar in 1978 published an epic poem Rashmirathi (translation: One who rides the Chariot of light, 1952) which narrates Karna's life.[61] The poem has later also been adapted as play.[62

But no where in mahabharat is said that karna had two wives.infact in Mahabharata there were no mention about his personal life also...according to kmg version of mahabharat he had only one wife...gandhari mentioned her in the stri parv...no particular name was mentioned there...but as she was the wife of vrisha(other name of karna by vayas dev and lord Krishna due to his generous and Nobel nature)..so she was named as vrushali...in many other folk version some other names were mentioned..but most probably all the Names belongs to the same woman...supriya is nowhere mentioned in Mahabharata...she was later edition by writers..so as urvaree ...as per most of the researchers karna was monogamist...he had only one wife who was a suta kanya...she was sister of duryadhan's charioter...karna married her as per the wish of his foster father adhirath...karna and vrushali had a very content love and married life...vrushali was totally awed by karna and he was everything for her...even he was more than a god for her...she never questioned about any decision of karna..she liked to involve herself in her household matter...as per duryadhan she was as high souled as karna and a true soul mate of him...after death of karna vrishali also went to the his pryur.. ...they had 9 sons out of which 8 were killed in kuruskhetra...but as per jamini mahabharat karna got a boon from lord Krishna that he will save his linage...and for his promise lord Krishna save his one son named as vrishaketu who did not participate in kurukshetra war due to his very young age..later he became very close to both arjuna and lord Krishna.

WOW. Good Information. Specially other name of Karna as Vrisha due to his generous nature. There is folktale that Karna's wife is equally generous and assist his husband in charity. This may be one of the reason for her name vrushali.

But are u sure about it? I see the meaning in internet. Vrish means one who delights in Dharma. Vrisha means Cow. And Vrushali means ox's friend or something related to bullock cart. May be she rode bullock cart and hence she was called Vrushali just like Krishna got the name Gopal but actually it is a profession.

Vrisha means not cow..it means bull...now I exactly do not know why ppl of that time compare a noble and generous man with a bull... ..but it was an honerable name for a righteous person.
And there is no name mentioned as karna's wife in any of the popular versions of mahabharat...later reserchers named as her as Vrushali...i read in an online blog that vrushali name came after the name of vrisha...may be there are some other meaning of that name too.

Hi Nandita...thanks for the info.

bold-Is there any citation to prove this or is it wat is written by modern authors?
As per my knowledge nothing is written about Karna's personal life in the epic, n hence there is no mention of wat kind of a woman or wife Karna's wife was...please correct me if I am wrong... 😊
Is the whole description u provided of Karna's wife a part of folktale or any modern novel? I am confused... 😭

italics- It is true it's not mentioned...but in KMG, when Karna talks to Lord Krishna he mentions how he had 'wives'(plural), that were chosen by his father...n yes they were daughters of charioteers(if I am not wrong).
So I think, it's not exactly correct that he was monogamous...could u pls check n verify? 😊
