The story unfolds through music. Yes! Star Plus takes another leap in storytelling with Phir Bhi Na Maane...Badtameez Dil, which goes on-air on 29 June on Star Plus at 8:30 pm slot. But "This will not be a typical saas bahu drama," said the lead actress, Asmita Sood in an interview to thestatesman.com.
The show is about an intense and passionate love story of Abeer Malhotra, a VJ, and Meher Purohit, a business head, who parted ways due to misunderstandings only to meet again after seven years to resolve unsettled issues.
Pearl V Suri, making his TV debut as Abeer, confessed that he had to work really hard to do justice to this character, "My role is so apt and it is just what I was looking for."
"I love composing songs and my character also is of a musician who lives and breathes music," he said.
When asked why his character was portrayed as arrogant, the actor said, "Being badtameez is not his intention."
Asmita, who was a finalist in the 2011 Miss India, said, "This was a big step for me--from movies to television. But I am glad that I took up the role. Just like me, the character Meher is practical and career-oriented. So, I'm exploring myself through Meher's character."
Meher is portrayed as a headstrong, self-reliant woman of today who has reached a pinnacle of life through a lot of hard work.
When asked about the change in the title from Yeh Ishq Nahi Asan to Phir Bhi Na Maane...Badtameez Dil, she explained that the change was made to make the show peppier and more relevant to the audience.
"Our music will cater not only to the age group of 16, but those 45 and above would love it too," said Saurabh Tewary, the producer of the show. He wanted to cast the hit pair Drashti and Vivaan from Madhubala but chose Pearl and Asmita to give freshness to the show.
