Dimple has been selected from the first elimination rounds of Indian Idol 2; along with thousands of other contestants, Dimple too stood at the gates from 6.30 am, to audition for Idol 2. Chameli song
"I have been wanting to audition for Idol for a long time. Everyone around me, including my producer, asked me to go ahead and give it my best shot," says the actress, who made it through the first round by singing Sajna ve sajna from Chameli, and also sailed through round two.
"I was a bit nervous initially, as there were thousands of other contestants. But I was confident and wanted to give it my best shot. There were lots of groups and many halls, where people were singing and coming out. Some looked happy, while others were dejected."
Dimple says it was easier getting through the first round than the second. "In the second round, I was asked to sing a song with a quicker tempo; I sang O, what a babe!" After that, I was told that I have made it to the third round." Meri aawaz suno
In preparing for the competition, Dimple says, "I have given up smoking and drinking and wake up at five in the morning to do riyaaz. I want to keep my voice in the best possible condition."
When asked if her audition affected shooting schedules, Dimple says, "Not at all. In fact, my producer was very sweet and made adjustments. She wants to see my dream come true."
As far as the judges — Anu Malik, Farah Khan and Sonu Nigam — are concerned, Dimple says, "I want to go there and perform. I don't want to be over-smart and indulge in any debates. I will respect whatever decision they have to take." |
