At the dargah Kaajjal and Dev miss each other. But Kaajjal is drawn towards a holy man selling lockets (and she remembers in flashbacks the locket and chudis she and Dev bought at the temple on the hill). When Daadi explains that the thread of the locket is important for protection she gets flashback memories of the dhaaga she tied around the tree at the temple for Dev's protection.
Then Kaajjal and Daadi go to their relatives' home where many relatives of kaajjal and her dadi like the nephiews and all flock in bunches in front of them at their arrival … she stays mum in shock at their noisy scenes. There she meets the cousin Sweetie who is shortly to be married who asks Kaajjal to be her saheli for the wedding; and she meets a fat aunty trying to push her "dude" son at Kaajal; and she meets an old drunken lady who also calls herself Kaajjal's daadi and mentions Kaajjal's sad tragedy of losing her mother.
There to provide khaana for the family arrives Dev and his Chacha in a van … and Kaajjal spots Dev standing quietly to one side … the haunting music starts playing the same signature tune …
Kaajjal is drawn very much to this boy unloading the van full of food for the shaadi ceremonies, as his Chacha is being introduced to her Daaddi by the relatives. But Dev's back is turned to Kaajjal so she has to be content with just staring at him in a mixture of curiosity and attraction, as her relatives pull her into the house. He then turns but is too late to see her properly either.
Later that evening Kaajjal is admiring the landscape as Daadi says her attraction for this place, where even these new relatives are not like strangers, is actually because she belongs to this soil. But Kaajjal feels some other pull also …
Later on, in the late evening, the family is gathered and chatting outside their home.
Meanwhile Dev is seen elsewhere separately, walking with his guitar in the fields and then he settles down near some shed like building in the fields and starts playing his tune … this haunts Kaajjal who tells her relatives she wants to take a small walk and she then proceeds towards the music …
Her relatives tell her its too late and not to go too far as stray wild animals may roam the fields, but the music just haunts her ... as Dev is playing his guitar in that shed in the light of a small oil lamp.
She runs towards the shed, but when almost there she gets scared of imaginary animals and starts running in fright with a shriek. Dev hearing the shriek gets up and sees the running girl and follows.
She runs headlong almost into a big open well in the fields, as a hand grabs her wrists just in time and stops her from falling in (she now has dizzying flashbacks of the Mussoorie scene where Kaajjal and Dev first met near the cliff and where he saved her from falling).
The boy's hand let's her go and she starts spinning in circles from the impact of being suddenly caught and then let loose in her headlong run ... her shawl falls to the ground ... and then she falls down too.
As she tries to sit up, with slushy mud now all over her face, she sees the hazy form of Dev in front of her and tries to focus clearly … Freeze.
