Chaahat Khanna is glad she's back into acting (TOI Photo)
Chaahat Khanna quit acting post-marriage. But with her marriage collapsing, the actress is back on TV. And she's bagged a title role
Chaahat Khanna is excited about her new role. After all, it is the title role. Chaahat will replace Surveen Chawla in Kajjal. "I'm delighted. This is the best role of my career, she exclaims.
Chaahat is glad she's back into acting. She'd quit her acting career in December last year after she married her boyfriend businessman Bharat Narsinghani. The marriage however didn't last. In fact around a month ago, Chaahat spoke to AT about the domestic violence she went through in her marriage. "I was an emotional fool to marry him. I didn't think practically because I was very young. I quit my career after marriage and sacrificed so many things. I now want to get back to working and start life afresh," a distraught Chaahat had said a month ago.
Life's looking up for the actress now. I'm so happy to be back on the sets," she says, whilst shooting in Chandigarh. She did have to go for three to four auditions, but finally bagged this role. Ask her why Surveen's out of the show and she says, "There's a new reincarnation track and they felt the entire star cast should be changed.
Chaahat today seems a lot calmer compared to a month ago. I have filed for a divorce. His family too wants a divorce. So hopefully it should come through soon, she says.
And what about love in the future? Oh, no! Right now I'm only thinking about my work. That's all that matters," she smiles.
