Chapter 2
"Are we gonna eat or not?" called out Yash. The three of them were eyeing them suspiciously.
"Yes, why not! Let's go.." said Siddharth and leaves with the others to enter the restaurant ignoring Roshni.
Roshni keeps looking at their retreating figures as she remembers her first meet with HIM.
[ FLASHBACK :
She had just landed in the Mumbai Airport and was waiting to catch the next flight to Goa. She was sitting in the waiting area engrossed in sketching the adorable babies that were sitting beside her, when she noticed the guy in front of her was taking her picture. She immediately slams shut her sketching pad and looks at him with a straight face. He smiles at her and clicks another picture. She gets up and goes near him in fury.
"What the hell? How dare you take my pictures without my permission?" she asked in anger and tries to snatch the camera.
He sways it right and left so that she could not get hold of it.
"What were you doing in that?" he asked sarcastically indicating towards her notebook.
"What?" she asked innocently.
"Even you were sketching them WITHOUT their permission!!" he retorted with a grin.
"Are you crazy? They are just.. I was just..."she stammered and looked at the babies. "They are so cute and adorable, how could I not sketch them?" she said to herself.
"Well, in that case I feel the same." he smirked and clicked another picture as she turned with a shocked face.
"I am an artist, not a creep like you!" she snapped fiercely.
"I am sorry, WHAT? Creep? For your kind information I am a photographer. I can't help but take snaps of the pure beauty in the world." he replied back adoring her.
Getting intimidated by his stare and his words which were making her flush with embarrassment she leaves the place. Siddharth kept looking at her as she goes away, totally mesmerized by her flawless beauty and innocence.]
"Sid? Dude?? Siddharth!!" yelled Yash to break his daydream.
"I'm sorry.. I was.." he looks at Roshni who was sitting in front of him. "What happened?" he sighed and looked at Yash.
"Bro, this is not the time to think about your lady love, okay?" whispered Yash to him.
Siddharth reacts instantly, "I do not love her" he said aloud peeping at Roshni.
"What? Who?" asked Sam looking at him questiongly.
"Nothing" shrugged Siddharth.
"My baby Bro fell in love" said Kritika. Roshni was looking at her food, disgusted to the core; not wanting to hear a word on his so called Love Story.
"Shut up, Kitty.. Sam.. Nothing like that!" he said and glared at Kritika.
"Who is the lucky girl?" asked Sam with excitement.
"Someone he met on his way..." started Kritika but gets interrupted by Siddharth,
"No one!! Sam she is just joking, okay?" he said to calm down the situation; Roshni was glaring at him from the opposite side.
"Sam nahi dude! Bhabhi bol!" said Yash hitting him on his head making Samaira blush.
"Oops! Sorry.. Bhabhi is just too old fashioned.. how about...umm.. SIL?" he raised his eyebrows eagerly.
"Well.. BIL I think I love it" she responded with a high five.
"Roshni, these people have already made a team, tum toh mere team mein ho na?" asked Yash.
"Yes, sure!" she faked a smile at him. She puts the fork down and gets up making everyone stare at her.
"Excuse me, I need to go to the ladies room." she said without looking at anyone and left.
"What is wrong with your sister? Why the rudeness?" asked Yash incredulously.
"Just shut up Yash! I am sure she must not be feeling well!" Sam retorted a little unsure herself and annoyed at Roshni.
Siddharth kept looking where Roshni went and bit his lips in anticipation. He too gets up and excuses himself.
"I think both of them have gone nuts, totally." said Kritika as he left, gobbling on the pasta.
Ladies Washroom
"Oh god! Why is this happening to me? What have I done!! The guy I was crushing on over the past 36 hours is SHORTYY.. Damn my luck!!" she said aloud.
Siddharth enters the restroom; Roshni was continuously cursing looking at the other direction. He taps her shoulder making her shriek as she saw him,
"What the hell are you doing here? This is the ladies washroom!!" she screamed at him.
He covers her mouth with his hands and shushed her.
"Will you just calm down!! I need.. We need to talk!" he said exasperatedly.
Roshni bites his hand making him take his hand off her and he yells,
"What the..!! Are you crazy!! This is my hand not your carrot!!"
"Don't touch me, Okay?!" she snapped.
"Oh please!! I don't even want to! Haath na gangajal se dhone parenge mereko!" he retorted with a smirk.
"So go na! Why have you come here?" she replies instantly.
"Listen, I wanted to talk about yesterday.." he started.
"You listen to me.. What was that outside? Love? Are you mad?" she asked.
"Love? And woh bhi tumse? Never!! Mere siblings ko galat faimi huyi thi!" he replied.
"Oh really?" she rolled her eyes.
"Do you want me to fall in love with you?" he asked her unbelievingly.
"Whaat.. No.. Never.. I will kill you if you ever do such a thing! I freaking hate you!"
"I hate you too, BUNNY!" he replied back mockingly.
"Stop calling me that!" she whined.
"Why? Just because you don't wear bunnies anymore I won't stop!" he winked at her.
She smacks him on his chest and says,
"Last night never happened! Do you understand?? I don't want to even think about it!"
"That is something we both agree on!" he nodded and extends his hand.
She looks at his gesture and then at him.
"Yeah..Good!" she shakes his hand.
"Bye.. Bunny!" he pulls her nose playfully and leaves.
[FLASHBACK : She was standing outside the Airport searching for a taxi.
"Taxii!!" she yells and one cab stops in front of her asking where she wanted to go.
"Railway Station??" she asked.
"Madam what will you do going to the station today, there is a strike! No trains will leave today!!" he replied.
"Whaat? Oh no! But I need to go to Goa!" she said to herself.
"Do one thing Madam, take the bus!" he replied and left.
"Bus?" she looks around to ask someone where the bus stand was.
"Hii!!" he waved his hand and came towards her.
"What are you doing here?" she asked.
"Well, I couldn't help but overhear.. even I am going to Goa.. how about we hire a car and go together?" he asked smoothly taking off his glares.
"Do you really think that I will go to Goa alone with a creep like you?" she retorted sarcastically.
"C'mon Bhagyashree, even you know that I am not a creep. I thought if we would have shared I could have saved some money!" he replied back with a grin.
"Find another partner with whom you can share, I will go in a bus.. More adventurous you know?" she smirked and left.
She smiles as soon as she turns and thinks about him, gawking at her with his intense stare. She couldn't lie to herself, he was devastatingly handsome and his low sultry voice was just like a sweet tune ringing on her ears. She looks back to find him, he was biting his lips and thinking while talking to someone over the phone. She shakes her head to stop thinking about him and leaves.]
"Sid, stop biting your lips!" said Kritika hitting him on his arms.
Roshni was staring at his lips, but comes out of her daze as soon as he stops biting them. She starts drinking water as her throat was dry,
"BIL, Yash told me everything about the lady love! You are totally smitten by her...What's her name?" she winked at him. Roshni spills the drink on the table and starts coughing. Sam pats her back with concern and asks,
"Are you fine?"
She nods a yes. Siddharth looks at Roshni and says,
"Bhagyashree.."
"Dude, yeh kaunse zamane ki ladki se pyaar kar baetha hai bhai?" teased Yash.
"Actually... I never asked her name.." replied Siddharth.
"What..? Why?" asked Kritika.
"Acha hua na Kitty.. Now when I look back.. and think again.. she was the most stubborn person I have ever met." he said playfully staring at Roshni. She glowers at him and kicks him under the table.
"Owwaa...aaand" he covered up "And she was not that pretty also.. naak na thodi tedhi hai.. and thodi si fat also.." he continued.
"Huh, khud jaise kahi ke hero dikhte ho!" retorted Roshni making everyone stare at her.
Siddharth was beaming and tried to hide his smile while Sam whispered to Roshni,
"Behave!"
"Why are you telling me all this? Tell this Shorty na!" she snapped and stood up. Siddharth too stands up and says,
"What? Shorty?!! Oye andher ki raani, 5 feet 11 inches height hai meri.. first look and then say ok!"
"I have seen isiliye bola! Sam I am going! Will see you at home!" she barks and leaves.
"Jao na..bunny rabbit ki tarah toh daath hai tumhari.." yelled Siddharth as she goes.
She turns back and shows him the middle finger making him break down into hysterical laughter and he sits down.
"Pheeww!" sighed Yash.
Sam and Kritika were just too shocked to even say anything they continued to look at each other awkwardly as the entire crowd of the restaurant were staring at them.
"Come I'll drop you home!" said Yash and everyone gets up to leave.
Siddharth recalled a particular memory of his childhood -
[ FLASHBACK :
It was the best day of his life as he was now old enough to get on his favourite ride - BREAK DANCE. He was with Yash who had come to stay his vacations with him. They were standing in the queue waiting for their turn; happily enjoying the candy floss in hand. As the line moved forward Siddharth excitedly strides to go in when he gets stopped by the security.
"I am sorry kid but you are not tall enough to get into this" he said.
Siddharth whined that height did not matter and he was old enough but he was not allowed to get in. Yash tells him sorry and leaves to go inside. Someone comes from behind and takes a bite of the candy floss that was in his hand. He looks at her and scowls,
"Ohh poor you.. couldn't get in!!" she teased pulling his cheeks.
He jerks away her hand and says,
"Go from here Bunny, I am not in the mood!"
"Awww.. what happened.. your height is too short na..?" she mocked further. Her friends who were standing behind her had started laughing on him now.
"Keep standing here Shorty! Just look how much fun I am going to have today!" she winks and leaves to go in the ride.
"I am not short!! Don't ever call me that!" he yelled back at her.
"Shortyyy Shorrtyyy!!" she teased as she stuck her tongue out at him.
Well this was how he got stuck with the name - SHORTY. Thanks to the stupid Break Dance which he hated the most now.]
The valet brings their car as they stood outside the restaurant. Roshni was standing in the auto stand. Sam goes to talk to her,
"Why are you taking an auto? Where is our car?"
"The engines all blown up so I thought I'll take an auto home." she replied with a straight face.
"Stop all this nautanki and come, Yash will drop us home." she said as she pulled her sister towards the car.
"I don't want to go with him!" said Roshni pointing towards Siddharth who was chatting with Yash.
"Why are you behaving like this? What happened suddenly? He didn't even say anything to you!" yelled Sam at her.
"Oh really! Di didn't you hear him say all those things!" she retorted in anger.
"It was about the girl he met! Why are YOU so upset about that?" she asked incredulously.
"I..I.." she stammered unable to understand what to tell her sister. "Let's go" she said in defeat.
Siddharth looks at them coming towards the car; Roshni was glaring at him, as soon as she was close enough to hear him he said,
"What happened, auto wale bhai saab ko Bunnies se darr lagta hai kya?" he said playfully.
"What did you say?" she asked fiercely.
"TIME OUT TIME OUT!" said Yash and pulled Siddharth to the other end of the car.
"You sit at the back, I don't want you driving when your attention is elsewhere." he said indicating towards Roshni.
Yash sits in the driver's seat and Samaira calls shotgun so she sits beside him in the passenger seat in front. Siddharth had already sat at the back of the driver's seat when Kritika tells Roshni,
"Umm, can u sit in between? I actually feel suffocated in between and doctors have told me that.." Roshni interrupts her and says, "You don't need to explain, I know." as she knew that Kritika suffered from asthmatic attacks.
Roshni sits in between reluctantly, keeping a fine gap between him and Siddharth.
"Bro, this ride is sweet man!! Excellent choice.. I think I will buy one for myself!!" said Yash excitedly as he drove.
"Yea sure!! You tell me which colour you want, it will be my wedding present to you!" replied Siddharth happily.
"Car khareedne ki aukad hai lekin car hire karne ki nahi!" said Roshni inaudibly, but Siddharth heard her.
"I was mad na! I could have come in leisure to Goa in my car but what did I do?? took that stupid bus!" he whispered back.
[FLASHBACK :
Roshni was sitting in the window seat of the bus admiring the view outside as the bus moved in its normal speed. A big smile spreads across her face as she recalls him. The compliments that he gave her and his charming smile was all that she could think of. He looked like one of the actors that came out from a Hollywood movie.
Her heart fluttered as she contemplated about him. His dark brown hair disheveled on his forehead, the brown eyes that were as warm as its colour which could seep someone in if looked at for a long time and his slightly muscular body. What was not to like about him? She took out her sketching pad and started to pencil in his image.
Suddenly she felt someone's eyes burning a hole in the back of her head which made her look over her shoulder to see him staring at her. He gave the most heart melting smile that a girl could dream of. He comes near her and asks,
"Is this seat taken?"
"What are you doing here? When did you get in? Are you following me?" she asked in one breath.
"Ahh.. can't a guy in this country get a simple answer for a simple question?" he raised his eyebrows.
"No and No." she replied and looked outside the window with a grin on her face.
He sits down beside her immediately, placing his hands carefully in such a way that he was not touching her.
"What have we got here? Who is the lucky guy whom you are sketching?" he asked taking away the pad from her lap.
She snatches it back from him and says,
"How about your turn in answering my questions now before you ask me more!" she said.
"Okay! Well since my partner refused to take a ride with me, I was left helpless and had to take this stupid bus instead just to save money!" he pretended to be sad.
"I got in the bus when you were busy smiling about something - I am sure that story is going to be interesting!!" he teased.
"I was just admiring the view!" she replied too fast and by his look she understood that he knew. So she places her hair in between her face and his stare to hide her reddened cheeks.
"Why did you get in the stupid bus'?" she asked to change the topic.
"Well, to make my journey more exciting!" he replied back and his arms slightly brush against hers. She looks down at his arms and at once he removes them. She glances up to see him; he was looking at her with innocence filled in his eyes.
He notices a small smile on her face as she turned to the other side; her hair fell on her perfect face blocking his view. He felt an urge to remove it so that he could continue gazing at her but he controlled himself and looks up in front.]
Yash takes a sharp turn to the left, making Siddharth fall on her. Their arms brush against each other and he peeks up to see her with the same innocence that he had earlier. As she looked into his eyes she could feel a hint of something in them, protectiveness maybe, or likeness or love?? She closes her eyes and then glances at him with annoyance, pushing him to the other side.
"Sit properly!" she uttered.
"I am sitting properly!" he replied in anger.
"Really?" she snapped.
"Am I interrupting?" asked Sam as she looked back at them.
"He and I would actually have to be talking for you to be interrupting!" said Roshni with a fake smile.
Samaira rolled her eyes in frustration and says, "We have reached home."
"Oh. Thank God." said Roshni as she gets out off the car. As soon as she leaves Siddharth exhales out heavily.
"Wow. Sam's sister is actually a pain in the ass!" said Yash. Kritika hits him on his shoulder as she sits in front.
"Told ya!" said Siddharth from the back.
"Shut up and drive. I am sleepy." she said.
Roshni's House
The sister's enter the house annoyed with each other. They were bickering when DD comes from inside,
"Roshni beta?" she said with eagerness holding out her arms for a hug.
Roshni looks at her mother questiongly thinking what could have brought such a change in her and then her sister. Her sister indicates her to go and hug her. She slowly moves towards her mother and engages in an awkward hug from her side.
"Mom." was all that escaped her mouth.
Her mother takes her in a tight hug, making Roshni scared now for a sudden change in her behavior.
"Mom, are you okay?" she asked again a bit louder this time.
DD caresses her hair and says, "Now I am."
Roshni's heart melts as she hears these words and she hugs her back lovingly.
Samaira drops her bag and comes running to hug them both,
"Aww I need one too after such a dreadful dinner!" she said and embraces them.
DD loosens the hug and asks, "Dreadful? Why what happened?"
"Mom!! You should've been there to witness the fights!" she said raising her hands up in the air exasperatedly.
"Fights? You mean you and Yash fought?"
"Not us mom. Roshni and Siddharth!!"
DD shakes her head and says, "Tell me something new now."
She slaps lightly on Roshni's cheeks while Roshni pouts in anger cutely.
