Is this the best format?

As the Saregamapa contest heats up, I am a little apprehensive about the way the contest is being conducted. With fewer singers on the show we should get more live performances each episode and more and more challenging songs being performed. Instead, the "guru"s seem to be getting more and more undue footage.Is this the best format to choose the best singer? How would you like to change the format?
Personally, I feel we could get at least 2 live performances from each singer in each episode. There should be more emphasis on classical/semi-classical/folk and old songs. Improvisation and experimentation with various genres should be encouraged.
