Plane talk
Dino Morea and Karan Johar were in the airplane sitting next to each other, when Kareena Kapoor walks in later. And begins asking: How dare you two not wait for me? And the actress, made Dino get up, and promptly sat down next to KJo. Dino of course didn't mind. "I know Bebo and Karan are great friends, and it's absolutely ok, that Bebo made me get up," laughs Deens. Also to keep them company on flight was Alex Kuruvilla.
A 'mixed-bag' of emotions
Waiting at the airport for your luggage ensues in some funny encounters. Especially for the 'stars'. Though mobile cameras went click click click every time Kareena blinked, many of the passengers were excited about clicking our dear KJo as well. After all, he does provide the NRI's with solid entertainment, na! So there was this group of phirangs who posed with the famous two - KJo and Bebo - at the airport. And one of them conveniently took Karan's bag and put it on her luggage cart, by mistake, of course. And a slightly panicky Karan, politely asked her to check if the similar looking bag was actually hers. And it wasn't. For your info – it was a huge branded bag that Karan brought along to Jodhpur. And the foreigner, too, carried a similar bag of the same brand. So the mix-up!
Rajathan and Royalty
The ad commercial was shot in the beautiful Umaid Bhavan in Jodhpur. The palace in the night was wonderfully lit and looked majestic. Peacocks roamed about in the palatial gardens. "This was our first and only choice," said director Tarun Mansukhani. "We knew we had to shoot the ad in a palace, and it had to be Umaid Bhavan. There's no other place more beautiful." Kareena tells us, "I love every place in Rajasthan. Everything about the architecture and the culture leaves me spellbound!"
What's in a name?
Rohit Bal designed Kareena's lovely red flowing gown made of about 60 meters chiffon, and enhanced by about ten packets of branded crystals. The actress looked gorgeous in the outfit, and when Rohit quizzed the people around about how his lady in red looked, they opined en masse, "Like a Russian Princess!" "Negative!" retorted Rohit. "She is my Zarina!" Now, that's one great beholder!
Khana Khazana
While everyone hogged on the buffet served, one would of course wonder what the visibly thinner Kareena would munch on? She shocked us. "My weight loss has everything to do for a film I am doing. I eat everything. It's only now, that after eating, I workout harder!" So what's next in the fitness regime? "I want to maintain myself. A lot of compliments are coming my way, and I am feeling good!" She's looking great too!
Stubble Trouble
It was Karan's turn to get ready - to get into his black sherwani et al designed by Varun Bahl. And the big question was: To shave or not to shave? While Rohit Bal suggested that he should put the razor to work, Dino felt that Karan's stubble was actually looking good. The last call was of course Mr. Director's - Tarun Mansukhani's - who shared Dino's views. And the razor, was given a day of rest!
'Notes' to myself
The television ad commercial not only marks Karan's entry into acting but also actor Dino Morea's entry into production! And since the commercial was being shot at night, the actors were at work from 7 in the evening to 8 the next morning. So it was at about 4 am that Dino and Karan sat with their laptops and listened to purane zamane ke gaane , in between shots, of course. They sang along, and claimed every old classic to be their absolute favourite! Yeh Dosti...
Two days too less
Tarun, who has been Karan's assistant for ten years, had taken the director's chair, and Karan himself donned the actor's robe. Creative interference from KJo's side? "None at all!" exclaims Karan. "If I were to give my directorial inputs, we'll be here for four day and not just two." Tarun says, "Every time I okay a shot, Karan is going to ask for a re-take." But let us tell you, that Karan was an obedient actor, and submitted himself completely to the director, exactly like he'd like his actors to do unto him.
The last laugh
While everything was hunky-dory in Jodhpur, the lady having the last laugh back in Mumbai was Rani Mukherjee, who buzzed Karan in the evening and asked him how the shoot was going. "It's a night shoot, and I haven't even started," he told her. "She's having a good laugh at my expense. And is actually enjoying my inconvenience," he tells us. Probably the case of a taste of one's own medicine, eh?
