Because he doesn't have it in anymore. He has stopped acting which was appreciated by his majority female fanbase, he stopped taking up good films even though people had some faith in the quality of his films previously. He has destroyed his own goodwill singlehandedly and don't think he will be able to beat anyone anymore-let alone BO wise but not even acting -wise.

His peak is long over IMO. Amir will continue to give major hits because he takes up good films and has a thought process behind it. Salman because of his raw star-power. SRK is done.
