Dia Mirza To Kangna Ranaut: Madhavan Heroines At His Birthday Bash

Tamil-Bollywood star-actor R Madhavan who turned 44 on Mondayinvitedall his heroines to a birthday bash at Royalty a posh club in Mumbai for what Maddy described as a "grand reunion scene straight out of Mera Naam Joker"

"It was an occasion I wanted to celebrate. I not only completed 44 years on this earth. But I also completed 15 years in this film industry which is my universe. I've done some really satisfying work with some terrific directors and some of the most beautiful women on this earth that I've met since my wife," chuckled Maddy as he prepares
for what he calls the second innings.

"The success of Tanu Weds Manu Returns has rejuvenated me. I feel like I did when I worked with Mani Ratnam in my first film Alai Payuthe."

Maddy's main mentor Mani could not attend the birthday celebrations. "He was in Chennai and unable to fly down to Mumbai."

The letter M' holds a special significance in Madhavan's life...his own name begins with M'. Mani Ratnam is his mentor. And the character he enjoyed playing the most is named Manu.

Getting nostalgic about his leading ladies Maddy said, "I'm so happyto see Dia Mirza happily married and looking as radiant as ever.When we did Rehna Hai Terre Mein it was a flop. Today all its songs and the film are universally loved. Namrata Shirodkar in Dil Vil Pyar Vyar, Soha Ali Khan in Rang De Basanti and Mumbai Meri Jaan, Vidya Balan in Guru, Bipasha Basu in Jodi Breakers and Kangna in Tanu Weds Manu...all of them have been wonderful experiences. I can't thank my heroines and directors enough for supporting me."

Madhavan feels no resentment at Kagna having walked away with so much credit for the success of Tanu Weds Manu Returns.

"Kangna deserves every bit of the success she has got. As for me I'm lucky to have been noticed. The best compliment I received was from my son Vedant .After seeing Tanu Weds Manu Returns he said to me, Dad, your eyes were so pained in the film.' If I can communicate to a 9-year old what I was doing I think I've succeeded."
