Believe me, any logical Pakistani is conflicted in this. We all love that Pak players got an opportunity to play at home and that the public got to cheer for their team but at the same time we're still all concerned for safety.

So what happens now since the match was a wash-out? Just curious...

Don't think anything serious will happen with the results of this match. Pak are still no 9. They will still need to beat SL in the 5 match series. IND is expected to win 3-0 vs BAN But if BAN defeat IND in any 1 of the 3 matches PAK will need a 5-0 or a 4-1 series win v SL.

Today's washout makes a somewhat significant difference for Pakistan.

Firstly, ICC rankings are rounded. The way they calculate them partly is by taking into account how many matches a team has won out of how many they played. Since recently they were whitewashed by Bangladesh, it makes their wins/matches played ratio fairly lower. So while a washout today doesn't decrease that ratio, it doesn't give them a chance to improve it either.

If they had won 3-0 against Zimbabwe, then their wins and matches played would have increased by 3 each increasing that ratio (more so than them winning 2-0).

Now a win today wouldn't significantly influence that ratio, but since it is rounded, it could potentially have a large impact.

However, this washout was very fortunate for Pakistan because if overs were shortened, then Pakistan would have to defend around 230 in 42 or so overs. On this pitch with the expected dew (and the start ZImbabwe got - 60 odd runs in 9 overs with 10 wickets in hand), it would have been very difficult. And if they lost, that would negatively effect their ranking.

I still think beating Sri Lanka in the ODI series and India/South Africa whitewashing Bangladesh would allow Pakistan entry in to the Champion's Trophy. But considering Pakistan's weak team (although Sri Lanka isn't much better) and Bangladesh's improvement, that seems like a rather slim chance.

Either way man, it's expecting too much from Pak.
