DARD...



RAMAN IN THE HOSPITAL


Raman was a bundle of nerves when he entered the consulting room. He walked with great difficulty. Anyone will suggest him to consult an orthologist. He took a seat across the table and fisted his hand in nervosnous. The doctor looked at him as if examining a patient.


Doctor: "Mr Bhalla...don't get nervous. You can tell me anything. I'm a doctor, I may be able to help you with your problems."


Raman looked at him shocked and cleared his throat to start the conversation.


Raman: "Hmm...It's not me...but my wife"


Doctor: "Oh I'm sorry...Is she with you?"


Raman: "No. I didn't tell her about it"


Doctor: "It's ok. You just explain her condition. We wil see if she will make it out"


Raman recites the events in one go making Ishita's character seeming to be good and takes a quick ride to the past incidents.


FLASHBACK

SHAGUN'S PHONE CALL


Raman: "Hello baby...abi tak nahi soya? Mera waiting? I'm driving yaar...to the hotel"


From the other end: "Mat jaao...Ish...Ishita...mat jaao...Let me come with you...I'm not that brav...I'm scared"

(Don't go Ishita)


Raman: Tensed "Sh...Shagun...kya hua...kya ho raha hai vaha...? Kuch problem hai? Main aa raha hun. Half an hour mein aajayegi baba...Ishita ko rukne ko bolo...I'm turning the car to your hostel. Ab khush?"

(What happened Shagun...what's going on there? Any problem? Ask Ishita to sta there. I'm coming in half an hour. Happy?)


From the other end: Male voice "Dekha kaise gayab hogayi teri dost...ab to tujhe kaun bachayenge?"

(See your best friend left you. Who'll help you now?)


Raman halted the car hearing a male voice from Shagun's mobile. He had this gut feeling that something is wrong.


"Aahh...chod do mujhe...How dare you touch me...ah..."

(Leave me)


Raman: Enraged, "Kaun hai saale...chod do meri behan ko...chodo use..."

(Who's that...leave my sister)


From the other end: "Teri ye ankhen...yeh nakh...yeh gaal...yeh nakhre vali hoth..aur yeh gala..."

(Your eyes, nose...cheeks...lips and this throat...)


Raman: Punching on the steering he shouts on top of his voice, "You bas***d...LET HER GO"


From the other end: ***SHOT***SILENCE***


Raman stayed freez for a while and voiced, he was scared of the obvious.


Raman: "He...hello...Shagun...baby...are you there? Bhayya aa raha hun apke paas. Ap tikh...ho? Are you hearing me baby...? Hang on...kuch to bolo baba..."

(Bhayya is coming to you. Are you OK? Say something)


He looked at the mobile to see the call disconnecting from the other end after three or four seconds. He didn't know what to do. For his relief he got a text from Shagun about the place were she is. He hurriedly drove past to get there and found Shagun's scooty on the roadside. He got out of the car and walked to see if Shagun is there. After a worse fifteen minutes he found her lying on her front in an isolated corner of the street. He ran to her scared to death. He turned her and laid her on his lap and shook to open her eyes.

Raman: Crying aloud, "Shagun...ankhein kholo baby...bhayya ko dekho... Baat karo... Shagun..."

(Shagun open your eyes. See me. Talk)


It was after a long time, completing his vigoruos crying and overcoming the shock that he realised her throat was bleeding badly. He took her to the hospital hastily.

Raman: "Robbery...it was...but they shot her...in her...throat...How much pain she'd have undergone!"


Doctor: "She died in the hospital?"


Raman: "Three days later."


Doctor: "Use physically aur koyi...I mean rape...?"


Raman:Feeling offended, "NO..NEVER DID THAT HAPPEN!"


Doctor: "Relax Mr Bhalla...I can understand your situation."


Raman: "I don't know what will happen to Ishita..."


Doctor: "Will you leave her if she will not talk for a lifetime?"


Raman:Trying hard to hide his anger, "NO, I WON'T LEAVE HER...EVER..."


Doctor: "That's great. As per the details I think she stopped talking because she remembers of Shagun and the pain she had gone through. But I don't know why she is afraid of men. Well...leave it aside, for now I would like to suggest you not to tell her about this treatment and meeting. You should watch her closely so that you can understand her more. Sometimes it helps!


Raman: "Sure doctor..."


Doctor: " Sanjay Reddy"


Raman: Shaking his hands with him, "See you next week Dr Reddy"


Raman walked out in haste that he bumped to someone and the files in the other person's hand fell on the ground. He apologised to him while both of them sat down to collect the papers. When Raman looked at the other one to give him his files he was pleasantly surprised to see his childhood friend.


Raman: "Arey yaar Ashok...tum!!!!"

(Ashok you!)


Ashok: "OMG Raman!!!"


Raman: "Tu to Mumbai mein dhe...yahan kaise?"

(You're in Mumbai.. How come here?"


Ashok: In frustration, "Yaar kuch mat poocho..."

(Don't ask)


They sat together on a waiting bench.


Raman: "Tune yahan join ki?"

(You joined here?)


Ashok: "Nitya ne ki hai yaar"

(Nitya joined here)


Raman: "Oye lambu...isme itna sad baat kya hai?"

(Why are you so dad about that?)


Ashok: "Sad baat kya hai? Yaar Raman...tum bhi bada tube light ban gaya hai...Vo do shaitan bache ko mujhe akela sambhalna hoga...Isn't that sad and SHOCKING?"

(What sad? You'be become tube light. I should manage those devil kids)


Raman: "To tu bhi yahan join karna. Problem solved"

(You too join here)


Ashok: "Nah...committed"


Raman: "Kab tak hoga yahan?"

(Till when will you be here?)


Ashok: "One week. Bachon ko vacation hai to socha main bhi to leave lelun...gumne jayenge...lekin madam ko to bahut kam hai..."

(I tool leave and kids have vacation. Thought of hanging out. But madam has a lot of works)


Raman: Teasingly, "Committed yaar!"


Ashok: "Tum bhi na...aur bata...tune shaadi ko kyun nahi bulaya?"

(Why didn't you invite in your marriage?)


Raman:"Vo...I'm sorry Ashok...vaise...tum ek kam kar...aaj family ko lekar mere ghar aaja. Aaj ka dinner vahan...!"

(Come home with family for dinner tonight)


Ashok: "That's done."


NIGHT AT BHALLAS


The Khannas were warmly welcomed by there loveable hosts. Ishita looked on silent. She was not feeling any fear but Ashok's face made hee remember the past. Raman introduced the Khannas to Ishita. When it came to Ashok, she stepped back a bit and looked on. "Ishita, meet my friend... Dr Ashok Khanna," Raman beamed at her. She tried to disguise her confusion in a smile.


Ashok: "Ishita Iyer...!"


Raman: Intervening in between, "No, Bhalla. It's Ishita Raman Bhalla."


Ashok: "Oh...possessiveness huh...!"


Raman: "I was just...correcting...Well...you know her?"


Ashok: "Of course I know her"

To Ishita, "Ishita...don't you remember me? Dr Khanna...Vandita's delivery...baby boy...Mumbai...?"


Ishita smiled cheekily at him on recollecting the memories.


FLASHBACK

HOSPITAL IN MUMBAI


Vandita came to see a gynecologist along with Ishita and enquired the receptionist about the available lady doctor.


Receptionist: "Ma'am...only Mr Khanna is available. Rest are on leave."


Vandita: "Why can't you just make a lady doctor sit here other than that Khanna?"


Ishita: "Akka...behave..."


Vandita: "What Ishu? Nan eppadi antha aala paaka mudiyum..?"

(How can I consult him?)


Ishita: "Akka...he is a doctor!"


Vandita: "En intha ampalenkal gynecologist akirenne theriyala...! I can't help thinking about it Ishu!"

(I don't understand why these men chose to become gynecologist!)


Ishita: "Akka you're thinking so much"

To the receptionist, "Dr Khanna ke saath ek appointment chahiye."


Vandita: Pulling Ishu's hand and whispers, "Nan varamatte Ishu..."

(I won't come Ishu)


Ishita: Shushing her, "Summa iru akka...Nan irukken ille!"

(Stay quite.I'm with you)


Both of them entered the consulting room to see a handsome man sitting there.


Vandita: "Ammaadi...evalavum azhagana aalu Ishu!"

(Oh mother, how handsome he is!)


Ishita: "Aama akka...aana kalyanam ayidich..."

(Yes. But he's married)


Vandita: "Unakkeppadi theriyum?"

(How do you know?)


Ishita: "Virala paaru..."

(Look at his fingure)


Vandita: "Koduthu vachirikkanam...hmmm"

(Sould be lucky)


Ashok: Politely not understanding what they are talking, "Please take a seat."


Vandita: "Haan doctor"


Ashok: "Batayiye...kya problem hai apka?"

(Tell me, what's your problem?)


Vandit: "Randu naala rumba vayattu valiya irukku doctor...athumattuma...vandiyedukkuthu...onnum saappidave mudiyale...thalayellam suthra maathiri thonnum..."


She completed in one go while Ashok and Ishita looked on confused and shocked. After a moment of pause and silence, Ishita began to laugh out loud realising the situation which made Ashok also join her. Vandu smacked her head for her nonsense and smiled. So she repeated the same thing in english,


"I've a bad stomach ache from the last two days doctor. Not only that...vomitting...I couldn't eat anytying...I feels like I've vertigo."


After confirmung Vandita's pregnancy, they left the place to share the news with the family.

The Khannas decided to bid goodnight to the Bhallas after having a delicious dinner and chitchat session. The whole family came out to see off them. When everyone got into the car, Ashok came out towards Raman.


Ashok: "Yaar ek baat poochna dha tujhse"

(I need to ask you something)


Raman: "Haan lambu, bolna"

(Yes ask)


Ashok looked at the family and they left them in privacy.


Raman: "Kuch problem hai kya?"

(Any problem?)


Ashok: "Yeh baat mujhe tujhse poochna chahiye"

(I should be the one asking this to you)


Raman: "Lekin kyun?"

(But why?)


Ashok: "Tum usse kyun shaadi ki? You know everything about her right? Shagun incident and her..."

(Why did you marry her?)


Raman: Cutting him short, "I know...I know everything"


Ashok: "Phirphi shaadi ki...?"

(Even then you married?)


Raman: "Yes...After all pyar jo kiya dha usse"

(After all I loved her)


Ashok: "Kya dha matlab...?"

(What you mean?)


Raman: "Matlab kuch nahi...apna dimag ko tez mat chalana...ghar jaa yaar"

(Means nothing. Don't use your brain so much and go home)
