In Merawallah Mumbai chef Sanjeev Kapoor talks about his passions and favourite spots in the city

Where do you usually shop?

If it's in the country, I usually go to some place that is convenient - maybe a Shoppers' Stop or Westside. But if I'm looking for branded wear, I usually shop abroad since I travel extensively. I buy Armani or other well-known wear in New York, London or Dubai.

Your favourite takeaway joint…

The seafood restaurant Gajalee has some great fish curry. There are a few things that they make very well and the gravy of the fish curry is great.

What is the one thing that never escapes you about the city?

The traffic has been a perennial problem along with pollution. And now with the rains, we also have water logging.

What are your places of worship?

The temple at home is where I pray but of course, I also got to Siddhivinayak and a temple in Juhu.

What are your favourite spots in the city?

Marine Drive after 1 am is wonderful. The airport is yet another place I have to like since I spend most of my time zipping in and out of the city.

Which salon do you visit?

It used to be the salon at Tulip Star, but since it has closed down I have to find a new one.

What is the one thing that you would change about your neighbourhood?

The way garbage collects and is kept on the roads till the garbage van comes to clear it up.

Who is the one person you would like to thank for making your stay in Mumbai easier?

Definitely, my in-laws. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't be in this city. They've been of great support.
