How can u compare a 72 year old legendary actor whose career spans 45 years to a 29 year old actress who has just been in BW for 10 years? 😆

NO. No one is a bigger star than Amitabh Bachchan. Not even the Khans. That's not to say the Khans are not huge stars in their own rights, with unprecedented box office draw. But Amitabh Bachchan is Amitabh Bachchan. The love, respect and adulation that he has is unparalleled, and it absolutely transcends his acting and entertainment value. I'm not sure that's quite true of anyone else.

Deepika is not even a bigger star than the Khans at this point, or Akshay or Ajay, or Kajol and Aishwarya who have shown longevity in a very misogynistic industry.

Yes. Deepika is bigger than Big B.
He started with flops but she started with a hit.
He got rejected in All India Radio, Filmfare talent hunt etc whereas Deepika excelled at whatever she got into. Be it badminton, modeling or films.
He was and often, still is, called ugly. Whereas Deepika is a stunner.
He was called camel, giraffe, grasshopper etc for being tall. Deepika, on the contrary is admired for her height.
Amitabh is compelled to be a chhupa rustam, a patnivrata purush in public whereas Deepika can flaunt her Ex's tattoo with aplomb till date.
He didn't get Filmfare so early in his career as DPad did.
He went bankrupt at one point but Deepika never did and hopefully never will.
He is working when he should just retire. A 73 year old man has no star power. DPad has given him a success for his face saving. Buzurg ke kalejey ko thandak.
Ideally Amitabh should retire now because he is unlikely to get any more success.

The only areas where Amitabh is bigger than DPad are - number of films done, height, age, controversies (he has got anti national high profile scandals in his CV while Deepika just has routine celeb controversies).

Yes she is. If being a star means bringing an audience into the theatre at this moment. Piku became a hit cos of the story and DP. Or else if it was just AB Sr , it would have same fate as Shamitabh ( which had a decent story).

Definitely AB Sr is an institution in himself. He still yearns to act at his age and is doing different kind of age appropriate roles. But he has no box office pull like in his peak years.

But what if we don't look exclusively at box office pull? Because in that case than comparing Shamitabh and DLKH, Ayushman is a bigger star than Big B too. I think being a star has to encompass many different things, not just box office numbers.

It is very true that at this point Amitabh Bachchan does not have the box office pull that he did in the 70s. But can you imagine any of today's stars at 73? And do you see them getting the kind of adulation and respect that Amitabh Bachchan does by just walking into a room?

I guess we are looking at definition of star differently here.
