Zut alors! Eva Longoria and Aishwarya Rai flout selfie ban on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet

This year sees the first time selfies have been banned from the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival.

However, it appeared not all the stars got the message after Eva Longoria and Aishwarya Rai were pictured flouting the new rule on the hallowed red carpet of the Palais Des Festivals.

Appearing at the premiere of Carol in their roles as L'Oreal spokesmodels, the pair posed up a storm for a selfie together taken by Bollywood beauty Aishwarya.

Social network savvy Eva, who has Twitter, Instagram and WhoSay accounts, had been heavily documenting the evening's proceedings from getting dressed to her red carpet moment.

As well as cosy up to Aishwarya, 41, for a shot for L'Oreal Paris's Indian Twitter feed, she also took time for a solo shot on the steps on the Palais.

Eva, 40, was thrilled to be reunited with her old friend Aishwarya, who she met at Cannes many years ago.

The former Desperate Housewives actress was also celebrating her 10th year as a spokesmodel for the international beauty brand.

Posting her selfie on Twitter, she enthused: 2At the top of the Palais! Celebrating 10yrs with @lorealParis #Cannes2015 #BecauseWeCannes #InsideCannes.'

Meanwhile, L'Oreal Paris's Indian Twitter feed uploaded the image taken by Aishwarya, captioning it: 'We became friends at Cannes. L'Oral Paris got us together!" -Aishwarya. @EvaLongoria #Cannes2015 #AishwaryaAtCannes.'
