Sixty Three

"What's wrong with you?" she spluttered, but he had already climbed on top of her on the bed and had pinned her arms down.

Letting go of one arm, Randhir grabbed her jaw and tilted it upwards before pressing his lips against hers forcefully. He felt her struggle from under him, but eventually she relaxed.

Then she kissed him back... and Randhir could feel the emotion pouring out of that kiss.

"I love you," he said against her lips, and he felt her heart beat faster.

"I love you, I love you, I love you," he said over and over again. He felt her cheeks burn and he involuntarily smiled.

He moved his lips off hers and then saw that her eyes were filled with tears. He didn't know why she was pretending she didn't love him... he didn't know anything other than the fact that she loved him, she truly loved him.

Randhir loved her a lot, but he knew that Sanyukta's love for him surpassed any amount of love he felt for her. She had already reached a point in her love where she had wanted to be with him, but didn't limit his freedom by keeping her with him, or by begging him to be with her.

She set him free... and that was what love did, it set the one you loved free. Randhir couldn't say the same about her. He had been setting himself free when he left her, but he had never set her free.

He wasn't setting her free now either. Maybe he would leave her alone if she truly didn't love him, or didn't want to be with him, but he didn't want history to repeat himself, with her being hurt again. Not now, not when he was finally taking a step towards keeping her happy.

He used his thumb to wipe the tears from her eyes.

"I love you," he said again. "I love you so much."

Then he kissed her on the lips again and he could feel her body crumble from under him, as if she had no choice, but to weakly let him kiss her.

He sat up on the bed beside her and she sat up too.

He stroked her cheek softly as more tears poured out of her eyes, wetting the palm of his hand.

"I love you," he said once more.

Sanyukta lifted a hand and pressed it against his cheek. Her hand was warm... just like her cheek. It was like her whole body was flushed.

"Randhir," Sanyukta said, her voice cracked. "Why are you so stubborn?"

"Why are you moving away from me?" Randhir asked her softly. "Why do you want to stay away?"

She didn't respond. Instead, she just looked down.

"I love you," Randhir said once more, and she looked up at him. "I love you a lot... maybe not as much as you love me, but I still love you a lot."

She glanced up at him, her teary gaze piercing his heart.

"Do you want to know why I don't want to be with you Randhir?" she asked him hoarsely. "Randhir... I don't want to be with you, because you don't know what you want."

"What?" Randhir asked her, shocked.

Of course he knew what he wanted... he wanted her.

"You will want me one day, and then the next day, I don't know if you'll want me anymore," Sanyukta told him. "I'm not an object Randhir. Now that I'm going to be with someone else, you're coming to claim your rights on me."

Randhir watched her as his heart broke, hearing her words.

"I didn't want to say this to you," she told him softly. "But you left me with no choice."

"Sanyukta, Randhir said, his voice cracking. "I love you... is that not enough?"

She shook her head.

"You may love me, but you realized you wanted to be with me when I was going to marry someone else? Randhir... how selfish is that?" she asked him, her eyes tearing up. "Later on, when you are indecisive again, when you see me doing things you don't like, you will feel bad because you won't be able to control yourself from reacting. I don't want that for you."

He looked at her with shock.

"Don't you love me?" he asked her.

She took a deep breath and nodded.

"I do love you, that's why I'm doing this. I don't care if you think of me as a toy, I'll gladly let you play with me... but Randhir... you won't be able to handle the guilt," she told him, her eyes tearing up. "If your love for me was solid, it wouldn't take you losing me to someone else to show you that you wanted to be with me all along."

"You won't give me a chance?" he asked her, feeling his heart break into a thousand little pieces.

She stroked his cheek with love, then kissed his forehead softly.

"If I had the courage to let you suffer, I would give you a chance," she said to him.

Then she stood up from the bed to leave, but Randhir grabbed her hand to stop her from behind, as he looked up at her like a lost child.

"Don't do this Randhir," she said to him, as her eyes squeezed shut. "You're hurting me."

Randhir was confused with himself, with his relationship with Sanyukta

He might not have realized if Rehan hadn't proposed Sanyukta
