Maa Parvati
A mother will always protect her child, even if it is against the lord of destruction. As the legend has it, Lord Ganesha was born when Maa Parvati infused life in a small idol. Lord Shiva, having no clue of his new son, beheaded Lord Ganesha. This action ignited the wrath of a mother, who took a form of Shakti and forcing her husband to bring her son back. A mother-child bond is the highest form of love that has ever existed; a bond which even god bows down to. Whether it is a god, or a human, a mother will never abandon her child.
Sri Sarada Devi
Endearingly known as Holy Mother', Sri Sarada Devi, has expressed maternal love to all, barring any judgments. She exemplifies the belief that a woman does not have to go through nine months of pregnancy to express maternal love. No. Sri Sarada Devi has served her disciples as a teacher, a mother and a guardian. Irrespective of caste, religion, sins or race, Sri Sarda Devi has accepted her disciples and showed them the art of living. Even though she was nearly illiterate, she taught them the most profound truths through simple words. Sri Sarda Devi is an ideal mother who accepts their child just the way they are, and guiding them with a soft hand. This eternal lady has made a spot for herself in everyone's heart.
Yashodha Maiyaa
The belief that blood doesn't forge a bond between a mother and a child was exemplified by Yashodha Maiyaa and her son, Lord Krishna. The fact that Lord Krishna wasn't her son made no difference to her behaviour. Just as every mother, she scolded, pampered and guided her son to be a true and honest man. Everyone has heard stories of Lord Krishna and his pranks, and like every true mother, Yashodha Maiyaa has disciplined her son. Even god doesn't have the power to escape from their mother's reprimands.
Mother Teresa
The Mother was moved by the poverty and suffering of large number of people in India and decided to dedicate her life for the welfare poor and took citizenship in 1948. She became an independent nun and shared her life with the poor and hungry individuals of Calcutta. She taught reading and writing to the children of the street. She established a charitable organization called the Missionaries of Charity; it was the center of all her activities and has branches in many part of country. They help the elderly, the blind, lepers and people living with AIDs. Mother also open homes and school for poor children. Her dedication and efforts were recognized all over the world. She received numerous honors including Nobel Prize in 1979.In march 1997 she ended her service and service and died in September. She is still remembered for her sacrifice and dedication
Anna Jarvis
After her mother's death, Anna Jarvis decide to devote her life to establish Mother's Day to honor mothers around the world, living or dead.
Anna worked actively, writing letters to influence people and distributed pamphlets to gain acknowledgement for motherhood. Due to all her efforts the first Mother Day service was held in May 10, 1907 at her mother's church. She passed one carnation to each mother in the congregation. The white carnation represent purity of a mother's heart. A white carnation was worn in honor of deceased mother and red for living mothers. In 1912, West Virginia become the first day to adopt official Mother's Day; and in 1014, President Woodrow Wilson declared second Sunday in May as Mother's Day.
Anna Jarvis is a true hero because of dedication and love towards her mother and her dedication as a sibling towards her unsound sister. Although she worked for the causes of all mothers, he couldn't become a mother herself, but she earned the title of the Mother of Mother's Day'
Raja Weksler
It was World War II, Germen soldiers invaded Vilna,Lithuania. Because of the war, people were taken as prisoners in Nazi camps. Raja with her daughter mange to stay out of Germen soldiers clutches. She saved the lives of many people, including her daughter. When the prisoners in camps were starving she gave them her food to eat, and clothes to wear.
Once, Raja emptied her backpack and hauled her 11 years old daughter on her back, making her way through a crowd when women were fighting for their lives. At one point in the concentration camp, she disguised her daughter as a teenager, so that the two won't be separated. Her daughter was forced to survive thanks to her mother's effort, despite all the ill treatment they received until the end of war.
Rani Lakshmibai
Rani Lakshmibai was born to a Maharashtrian family in 1828. She got married to the Maharaja of Jhansi, Raja Gangadhar Rao Niwalkar in 1842 and gave birth to a son in 1851. The child didn't survive more than four months. In 1853, the Maharaja fell sick and weak which led to the decision to adopt a child. To ensure that the British didn't have an issue, Lakshmibai got a local British representative to witness the adoption. The child was named Damodar Rao.
After the Maharaja died in 1853, Damodar was legal heir according to the Hindu traditions, however the British refused to accept it. Lord Dalhousie decided to seize Jhansi as per the doctrine of lapse. Lakshmibai, after consulting a British lawyer, appealed for a hearing of her case in London but it was rejected. The British confiscated state jewels and an order was passed that Rani had to move the Jhansi Fort to Rani Mahal in Jhansi.
Lakshmibai decide to protect the state of Jhansi and began to strengthen her position and form an army. The army consists of both men and women who were given training to fight a battle. Rani defended Jhansi from being invaded in 1857 but in 1858, the British succeeded in the annexation of city. Despite all this, she managed to escape with her son. She took refuge in Kalpi. She died on 17th of June during the battle of Gwalior. Throughout her entire lifetime, Rani only aim was to secure the throne for her adopted son Damodar.
For her immense effort, she is referred to as the 'Icon of the Indian Nationalist Movement'. Throughout the uprising, the aim of Rani was to secure the throne for her adopted son Damodar
