Part 8
The next hearing was scheduled today, and Maan Singh Khurrana was all ready to fight everything that came his way of love. He had asked the nurse to get Geet ready for court; yes he would take her there and make her go through that pain again for there is no other way to get her justice, also he hoped her recovery seeing the culprit getting the needed punishment. But this was the very last time he would let her cry he vowed, as afterwards he would take care that, any tear that comes to her eyes would be out of happiness. As much were the hopes of her recovery, equal was the risk involved in taking her there as there was fear of her getting wild or behaving in a manner that could be harmful; but for once he was ready to take all risks and he would be there to face the consequences, what-so-ever they may be.
As she came out from the room with nurse; he walked to her, holding her hands brought her to small idol of Maa Durga, the goddesses of strength, placed in his living room; he joined both her hands and gestured to close her eyes to pray; and surprisingly for the first time she followed. This was the only emotion she had shown other than her occasional outburst. It made him little at peace and very happy, he too closed his eyes to pay for strength and victory.
She reached the court with his arms securely holding her around the shoulder. As soon as they came out of the car, the paparazzi attacked them like flies on sweet; his bodyguards were there to take care of them but it was already the morrow's front page content he knew.
She sat clutching his arms tightly, as the whole place was filled with unknown people some gave her disapproving look and others sympathetic which really bothered Maan; she on the other hand was in no sense to notice all that only the crowd scarred her. She held him tight as he was the only person she could currently connect to. The session was about to commence and Maan had the first trial. He slowly removed his hand from her clutch and motioned the nurse to hold her, he had brought the nurse too so that she is not alone while he is busy in proceedings.
Maan: my lord, please permit me to call Mr. Vikram on witness box.
"Permission granted."
Vikram had a big smile on his face as he walked to the witness box, though a fear of what he had been told about Maan was there at the back of the mind, he tried to be cool at his best; for anger n anxiety would only lead to mistakes, he knew.
Adi was sitting in his place all frustrated as he saw Vikram heAding to witness box, whole of last night till morning he had been trying to knock some sense to this egoistic beast so that he agrees for mutual divorce; but he was nowhere to listen. Nor could he manipulate the case, as he had already given his words to Maan; he had never bound himself to ethics in his profession, unless it doesn't harm anyone.
Maan: your honor, I would like ask some questions to Mr. Vikram.
"You may proceed"
Maan: thank you my lord.
Mr. Vikram, can you please tell me why do want this divorce?
Vikram: as I have already said, I can't be married to a mentally unstable woman.
Maan: right, then why did you agree to marry her at the first place?
Vikram: what do you mean?
Maan: Mr. Vikram you are supposed to answer here, only I will ask questions. Why did you agree to marry a mentally unstable woman at the first place is my simple question.
He said with a little raised voice like interrogating and Vikram was taken aback.
Vikram: I was forced to marry her, and she was not crazy at that time.
He blurted truth, and Maan gave a half smile which was only visible to Vikram, and that scarred him more.
Maan: exactly my point Mr. Vikram, now can you please enlighten the court with the reason of your wife losing her mental stability?
At that very moment Vikram almost had a heart stroke, thinking what will be the consequences if the whole truth comes out clear, he will not have even a chance to beg mercy then! With the happenings of first proceeding he had thought he could easily win the case and milk sympathy of public seeing Maan on back foot, but this one came as a big shock to him. He looked towards Adi for help.
"Truth can never be changed, but it can always be manipulated." that was what Maan had come to learn in his profession; and same was the principle that saves millions of criminals in Indian courts every year. Only thing that makes a difference is the motive behind; person like Vikram are bigger criminal in the eyes of society than in the eyes of law.
Adi had now known his strategy; Maan Singh Khurrana was all set to make the culprit spit out the truth from his own mouth, and beg for punishment. He gave a helpless look back at him; for there was nothing he could do, and it was his own doings that had landed him there. But inwardly was happy for his friend.
OK; this was all the court scenes I could put as requested by my friends, though next will have some more but that's it.
As I am not aware of the technical terms used in court room proceedings; so please ignore mistakes if they are small and correct me if they are blunders.😆
Also next part holds big twist; so I bet u to guess that; hint is given already.😉
