Ishita went into her room right as she entered her house and sat down by the window ledge. She was on cloud 9 because of Raman's small gestures. She knew Raman was never someone who showed his love or expressed his feelings much, but he showed love through small gestures. He still knew what she liked and disliked in his mind, even though he tried to deny it. She stood up to change and dropped something on the ground as she got up. It was his handkerchief, she lifted it off the ground and brought it close to herself. The handkerchief carried the fragrance of his strong cologne. She looked at it lovingly as if it was him standing in front of her. And then her eyes fell on the small chocolate stain on the corner. It must gotten on as she and Ruhi were eating ice-cream.

"Aiyoo! What have I done? I ruined his handkerchief. He is always so picky about these little things."

She ran to the bathroom and tried to clean to the stain. She scraped off whatever ice cream she could and then she hand washed it instead of putting it in the machine. She covered it with stain remover making sure no trace of the chocolate remained. As she finished cleaning it thoroughly and dried it, Mihika ran into the room excitedly and hugged her.

"Akka!! I am so excited, it's finally happening!"

"What's happening?"

"Mihir! He is talking to his family and after I meet with his stupid brother, he will talk to Amma and Appa!"

"Oh my God! Seriously?"

"Yes Akka seriously, we are meeting tomorrow at the coffeehouse. But Akka I am so nervous. I have to meet Raman Bhalla! I am so scared, you know he has a problem with our family, so what if he takes his anger out by refusing our wedding?"

"Mihika, I know Raman isn't like that. No matter what problem he has with me, he won't have it effect you. Remember how he talked to Amma in the morning?"

"I know Akka, but I don't trust that man."

"But you trust me and I am telling you everything will be great."

"Akka will you come with me?! Please!! I know I shouldn't have you around him, but I am too nervous."

"But Raman won't like having me there."

"You don't need to worry about him, you haven't done anything wrong. So you shouldn't hide in your house. And you are going to meet Mihir not him."

"Alright I will go with you."

Mihika calmed down and went excitedly to talk to Mihir on the phone while Ishita stayed back and hoped everything would great tomorrow. She went back to the bathroom, and picked up his handkerchief and went to bed as she held onto it tightly not wanting to let it as if it was him she was holding and fell asleep with a genuine smile on her face after years.

The next morning

Mihir and Romi woke up at the Bhalla to find no breakfast set for them and Ruhi wasn't running around the house like usually. They both asked each other what was happening and neither of them knew what was happening. So they went to Ruhi's room and found her asleep. Mihir woke her up as Romi took out her uniform and they told her to go brush her teeth. Initially she refused to get ready without her dad, but they convinced her by telling her that he was tired and needed sleep and she needed to show her dad she was a big girl now.

As Ruhi agreed and left, they both slowly made their way towards Raman's room and quietly tip toed in there to find him sleeping with his head on his desk as he sat in the chair. They ran towards him and his face was tear strained and the lines on his forehead left no doubt that he was upset with Mihir's words and had cried himself to sleep.

Mihir sat down on the bed and buried his head into his hand.

"I am so stupid! I took out my anger on Bhai and said such harsh things to him that he...he cried himself to sleep...all because of me. What have I done?"

Romi walked over to him and held his shoulder tightly.

"It's not your fault, if I hadn't told him about you and Mihika, all this wouldn't have happened."

They both felt guilty for hurting their brother and knew nothing they did couldn't make up for opening up his old wounds and causing him to feel guilty again. They wanted to do the least and let him rest this morning and do everything he did for them every day. They gently tapped his shoulder waking up slightly.

"What happened?" he asked in a hoarsely voice.

"Nothing, come with us." Mihir answered.

He got up lazily and with his eyes half closed. They led him to his bed and helped him lay down. He tried to protest and told them he needed to get up. But they didn't listen and being in the comfortable bed made him fall asleep within a few minutes. Romi covered him with a blanket and Mihir closed the curtains not letting the light disturb his sleep. They turned off his phone and closed the door so no noise would bother him.

Ruhi got ready by herself as she saw her dad sleep peacefully and let him be. Mihir made breakfast for them and Raman while Romi cleaned up the mess in the house and dropped Ruhi off to school.

They woke Raman up as they finished all the work around the house and he was pleasantly surprised as Romi excitedly told him everything they did and looked like a little child who had gotten a good grade and boasting about how much he studied. Raman got dressed and came to the kitchen to find his breakfast set for him and his bag all ready for office. He sat down to eat and as he got up to wash the dishes, Mihir stopped him and offered to them. Raman looked at them gratefully and had tears in his.

"Thank you so much! You two are the best brothers I could have." He smiled at the two of them.

The three shared a hug as Romi said...

"No we aren't otherwise we would have thought twice before hurting you."

"It's nothing. I don't mind anything you say."

"Bhai you're the best!" Mihir joined Romi.

Raman broke the hug and wiped off his tears...

"Enough emotional drama, now let's go to work and Romi to college, and anyways we have to come home early to meet Mihika, right?"

Mihir agreed and the three went and continued with their daily routine.

Caf - 5:30 pm

Mihir and Raman sat at the table waiting for Mihika to show up. She said she would be there by 5 and she was already 30 minutes late. Mihir had been more nervous than a student who didn't study waiting for the exam results. Why couldn't Mihika come on time for once? Bhai will have such a bad impression of her, Mihir panicked in his head. He nervously looked at the door for the umpteenth time and finally saw her walk in and he stood up as she walked over with Ishita.

"Hi Mihika!" he hugged her.

"Hey! I have brought my sister with me. I hope this isn't a problem."

"Of course not, Mihiku." Mihir said sweetly as Raman made a face at his way of talking.

Ishita saw that from the corner of her and laughed to herself as she remembered how Raman hated being "lovey-dovey" in public and preferred to be more a private person. But that didn't make him any less romantic, even fact he was more mysterious and brooding which added to his romantic quotient and he made any girl feel like she was perfect with his romantic ways in private of course.

Mihika and Mihir sat together at the table leaving the 2 chairs across them empty, so they had no choice but to sit together in the tight spot. They all placed their orders and Mihika introduced Mihir to Ishita and the two talked and Ishita approved of him within minutes. Mihir introduced Mihika and told Raman about what job does she does and how hardworking she is.

"I am not interviewing her for a job Mihir, anyways now can I ask her something?"

"Sorry, go ahead and ask."

"Mihika do you love Mihir?"

"Is this even a question? Of course I do."

"Mihir what about you?"

"Totally Bhai."

"Will you always support him in his bad times and not leave him?"

"I have always stood with him and will continue to do so."

He looked over at Mihir. "Always Bhai."

"Do you two trust each other?"

"I know Mihir more than anyone, and trust him more than anyone."

"I believe everything Mihika says."

He looked at the two of the carefully, he knew they were clearly in love, but he didn't want anything to go wrong so asked them one last question...

"After marriage, where will you two stay?"

"At our house Bhai." "In our separate house."

They both looked at each other surprised at having different answers.

"Mihika, why would we stay somewhere else?"

"Why would I stay with the man who ruined my sister's life?"

"Mihika!" Ishita started to speak up to scold her.

"Relax Mrs. Khanna, here the issue isn't about the past, it's the future."

Ishita nodded her head and looked back at the couple sitting across from them and so did he.

"You clearly love each other and as much as I respect that, there is more to marriage than just love. If marriage was only about love, then there are many people who would have been married."

Ishita looked at him as he said that and he turned over to her slight causing their eyes met for a few seconds. A few seconds of regret and heartbreak was visible to everyone at the table. Even Mihir and Mihika couldn't help, but feel sorry for what could have been a wonderful couple. But he looked away and turned his focus back to the people who were most important right now.

"I asked you guys many questions about love and you two were on the same page and your love was visible in your answer. But besides love, you have to look at the practical things. Things like is where are you going to live, are you going to financially help each other or be independent in that matter, and how will adjust to each other's daily life. I know for a fact that event planners have crazy schedules and Mihir often works late night. How will two handle that and make time for each other? So first, you will have to first work things out with each other and then talk to me. After you two talk to me, I will convince Amma & Appa for you two. Alright?"

"You are right. Mihir & I will sit down and talk through everything. But I am worried that Amma doesn't even want to talk to you then how will she listen to what you have to say? I still think this is a bad idea." Mihika pointed out worriedly.

"Raman Mihika is right. You saw how Amma behaved with you yesterday, then God knows how she will react to you bringing Mihir's proposal." Ishita agreed with Mihika.

"Alright then do you have another way? I know that I will give my consent, so Mihir is okay, but Mihika won't marry without her parent's acceptance. So then what?"

They all thought for a moment & for once they all agreed they had no other way, but to have Raman take the proposal to Amma & Appa.

Whether this was a good idea or not...only time will tell...

As the group sat at table finishing off their discussion, Raman's phone started to ring and assuming it was a work call no one paid much attention to his phone conversation, except Ishita who was sitting right next to him. She heard him talk on the phone and it was evident it was a personal call, not a professional one.

"I am great, how are you? You're here? In India?"

He continued to chat on the phone while Mihir & Mihika were engaged in their own conversation. And Ishita; she just looked Raman wondering who was talking to on the phone so happily. It had been a while since she had since him like this and she just looked at him and admired the smile on his face. But that smile disappeared quickly and was replaced with a frown. She was curious to know what the other person had said to upset him when she heard him talk.

"For how long?... That's fine and when? ... But why so soon?"

He agreed to whatever the person had said on the other line and hang up the phone upset. He paid the bill for all of them and left the place as soon as he could. And Ishita got up following him...
