Syrene, I agree with you too. First of all, in a democracy there should, under no circumstance, be ANY excuse for the public to take the law into their own hands. That's what happens in an anarchy. And if such a thing does happen, the police should oppose it, not condone it and even take part. How can the public trust the police and the law if no one is held responsible for this?

^ It may sound contradictory, but thats the way it is. The police is expected to perform their duties. And its not like the entire public of India believes that the mob was right.
