Recap: karwar chawth function and Rey's dad's entry

*Part 31*

The room was filled with thick uncomfortable silence. Everyone in the circle looked at each other not knowing what to do while only one person was oblivious with the tension around them that was Nanhi. She clutched on to her mom as she waited for her to be taken to the kitchen and be fed. Rey looked at his dad and then backed at Taani and signaled her to take Chavanni from there. Taani quietly nodded, turned and left with a very energetic and hungry Nanhi.

Rey looked at his father and just from the increasing confusion and anger on his dad's face; he knew the night will be long. He sighed heavily and finally broke the silence "dad come with me. I will tell you everything." With that being said he nodded at Swaron and left to go to a secluded room with his dad hot in his trail. The door clicked close while Rey moved from one foot to another feeling nervous and uncomfortable. "Well?" His dad coaxed as he cleared his throat gaining his son's attention. Rey looked at his dad and smiled "sunshine... I mean Taani is the love of my life dad." He declared the obvious with a dreamy look on his face. His father couldn't help as a small smile tracing his lips at his son's confession. He always feared that his son will be left alone and the fear increased when he heard about his son's best friends' Swaron's marriage. He couldn't make it to the wedding because of his business tour but he was more than happy to attend the karwa chauth function. He was glad that he did as he found out about his son's love. The clearing of throat brought Mr. Rannvijay Singhania back to present.

Rey smiled sheepishly at his dad after gaining his attention. "I fell for her in our first meet. You can definitely call it love at first sight. The more I get to know her the more I fall for her. It wasn't the same with her. She had a complicated past and present. So it was really hard to win her heart and trust dad but I did." Rey finished with a prideful smile. It was such an infectious smile that brought an answering grin on his dad's face too. Rey shook his head as if getting out of his daze, the daze of love. He sighed again and continued "Chavanni as in Nanhi is her 6 years old daughter who I adore to death. She is one bright and lovable child. I couldn't help myself but love her too as my own, dad. She also accepted me which is like a trophy for me. She calls me Spider daddy and every time she says that my heart swells. I love both my girls to no extent and I will marry Taani and adopt Chavanni as mine one day dad. I will." He promised his voice thick with determination.

Again the room was filled with silence after Rey got back to reality, he gulped hard. He knew this is it. His father's next words will determine the course of action from now on. If his father accepts Taani and Chavanni then life will be blissful. But if he doesn't... Oh Boy! Rey thought shuddering at the worse possibilities that invaded his mind. He finally won her and now a new obstacle in their way. He just hoped he doesn't have to choose between his dad and love of life. He would be devastated.

After a prolonged silence, his dad finally spoke "son I do respect your love for ummm... Taani but whose daughter is Chavanni. Where is her dad? Why is Taani not with him? Did he not want the child? Is he alive? Or dead? Is she married? Divorced? Single mother? This... The answer to all these questions matters, son. You are my only son. I can't let any girl come trap you in love and marry you. I have some responsibilities over you and I can't neglect them." His father completed his rant and rubbed his palms on his face frustrated knowing this will ignite a fight with his son but it was needed.

Rey stood rooted after his dad's rant. He looked paled and drained as he stared at his father. No he wasn't mad. Maybe he was but not much. If it was before he met Chavanni, he would have been furious but now there was some kind of insight for him on his father's perspective. Nonetheless he is a father too now. He should know better. He sighed defeated knowing his father is right in his place. The good part was his father didn't reject her already. He smiled at the thought and his father raised his eyebrow. "Dad! Dad!" Rey chanted happily as he hugged his dad. "I am so happy you didn't say no. You want to know more about Taani and it's not wrong. You can, you know ask her about her past. I am sorry I never asked her as I wasn't interested in her past." Rey said timidly running his hand in his hair.

"You understand me and not going to fight with me on this?" His father asked incredulously eyeing his son as if he has grown few extra heads. Rey chuckled at his father's face and replied shaking his head "no dad. I am neither mad nor going to fight you on that. I am a father too now. I won't want my daughter, my Chavanni, to marry any tom, dick and harry." Rey said frowning at the end of his words. I am going to choose a nice groom for my daughter he thought and nodded mentally at the decision as he knew any guy can fool his nave daughter with their false charm. He mentally rolled his eyes at them trying to woo his daughter. "Son? Rey?" His dad calling him brought him back to present. "Umm... yeah dad?" He replied sheepishly. "I was saying I want to know Taani and her past better but make sure she isn't aware of our little talk right now. I want her to know that this is serious. I will observe her too to see if she is a good daughter-in-law for me. Until and unless I am sure about this you don't have my consent." With his last words, Mr. Rannvijay Singhania left the room. He wanted to make sure that both his son and this girl know that his yes is not a cup of tea. Rey gaped after his dad as he cussed mentally. So much for not saying no he thought as he ran his hand in his hair again tensed.

||~in kitchen~||

"There you go" Taani says as she feeds last bite to Nanhi. She was a nervous wreck but she tried to hide it with a small smile. Nanhi jumped off the counter and rushed out of the kitchen happy and full. Taani shake her head at her daughter and the nerves she was feeling at the moment. She busied herself in the kitchen in an attempt to distract herself. But the more she tried the more dreaded she felt. Her heart was sinking every passing second. She was worried sick fearing the worst. She was scared that Rey's dad will reject her, accept her and reject Nanhi, or fight with Rey over them. She was lost in her turmoil that she didn't notice Rey entering the kitchen. He watched her as she halfheartedly dried the dried dishes. He smiled sadly at her and walked to her. He wrapped his arms around her stomach from behind and nuzzled his face in her neck. She jumped at the sudden touch but then calmed down as she felt Rey's touch's tingly feel. She let her head fall back on his shoulder as she leaned on him for support. She just wanted to crawl in a corner and hide from the world. She sighed heavily in content as Rey kissed the crook of her neck. "We will walk through this together too, sunshine, like we did before" Rey murmured against her skin as a promise and encouragement at the same. "We will, Rey. We will," Taani replies more for her own assurance than for his.

Of course it wasn't hard for Rey to detect it after all he loves her sunshine to no extent. His grip on her tightened as he nuzzle his face in her shoulder leaving a trail of open mouth kisses. Taani couldn't help stop the small moan that left her lips. She bit down on her lower lip as soon as the second moan threatens to spill out of her mouth. Rey smiled at her reaction and Taani could even feel his lips stretch when he smiled as he continued planting kisses up to her neck. Taani placed her hand on his that lay on her stomach as she tried to maintain composure. Rey went to her earlobe and slowly tucked on it which made Taani loose her control as she let out a long moan. Rey felt ecstatic by hearing her moan. He wanted to distract her and it was working pretty well. He started a slow suction on her earlobe as intertwine his fingers with her of the hands that still lay on her stomach. "Reyyy" Taani breaths out as she struggles to stay quiet. Rey turns her slowly as he pulls away from her earlobe.

Rey cups her face gently as he gazes in her beautiful eyes. Taani's breathe hitches at the intensity in his gaze. She instantly becomes red as she looks away earning a chuckle from Rey. "Gosh Sunshine, I love you sooo much" Rey said making her look at him by lifting her chin up. Taani smiles softly at his words as she whispers back "I love you too, Aashiq." The feel of the three magic words coming from her mouth can never get old. Rey pulls her to him as she came crashing to his chest. Without wasting a second Rey leans down and connects his lips with her. Taani gasps at the sudden action allowing Rey to slip his tongue in her mouth. She moans out at the collision of their tongues while Rey held her by her hips tightly exploring her mouth like it was the first time. "God damn it Taani you taste divine" Rey groans out as he ravishes her mouth. They continued kissing each other forgetting the world and the problems surrounded them until someone loudly clears his/her throat.

They instantly pull away with Taani beat red while both breathing hard. Rey looks up to find his father standing there with an amused look trying hard not to smirk at his son's actions. Rey finally felt embarrassed at the situation he was caught in as he scratched his head and looked everywhere but at his father. His father finally cleared his throat gaining attention of both Taani and Rey as he said in stern tone "we need to talk". Taani gulped as his eyes landed at Taani when he finished those dreading words. Rey discreetly took Taani's hand in his and squeezed it reassuringly making her calm a tiny bit. she nodded as she took her hand back from Rey and put the stuff back and walked to the study room with Rey and his dead hot on her trail. They stood there in awkward and uncomfortable silence. Taani fidgeted with her fingers while Rey rocked from one foot to another as his father stared at Taani studying her carefully. "Let's sit shall we?" his father said and taarey settled on the same coach while he sat on the one facing them.

Rey's father clapped his hands as he began "let's get to the point as I don't like beating around the bush. Taani, I am Rey's father and I think I have a right to know the person who is marrying him and going to be my daughter, don't you think?" he paused as he gauged Taani's reaction. Taani looked up at him when he said daughter instead of daughter in law and nodded with a small smile. "Very well then, please tell us both about your past about umm Nanhi is that the little girl's name?" he said trying to make sure he didn't said a wrong name. "Its Navika but everyone calls her Nanhi" Rey explained as Taani tries to compose herself. Past? Nanhi? Taani thought as the blood drained from her face and her hands get sweaty. A flash of images from her past covered her eyes making her look like she isn't here anymore. Her eyes look foggy as memories of past took over her mind making her heart clench and her breaths irregular. She was so into the moment she didn't notice the other two males looking at her worried. Rey slid closer to her as he placed his arm around her shoulder making her slightly jump as she quickly turn her face to meet his gaze. He rubbed his hand up and down her arm as concerned filled his face and voice, "are you okay, Sunshine?" Taani nodded weakly as she forced a smile. "I am fine" Taani finally managed to say in a croaked voice. Rey gave back a weak smile too as he squeezed her shoulder gently.

Taani looked at his father and smiled at him weakly seeing his concern too. "I... Nan..hi... we..." Taani stutters as she rubbed her sweaty palms together. "it's ok Taani you need not to tell anything now. You can tell dad whenever you are comfy" Rey said as he takes Taani's sweaty hands in his rubbing soothing circled on her hands with his thumbs. "But..." his dad tried protesting but Rey stopped him with one glance. "Not now dad, you can't force her to speak like this. Can't you see, it's a touchy topic for her?" Rey said his voice stern. Taani head snapped at Rey after hearing his tone. She has never heard him in this tone. "Rey" Taani gaped at him as she showed her disliking towards his tone towards his father. Taani shook his head at him while he looked sheepishly at her. "Sorry dad but you got to understand she is not comfortable. Look at her hands they are sweating so is her forehead" Rey exclaimed as Taani frowned and touched her forehead. She felt it too, it was sweaty. She looked up at his father nervously as she finally took deep breath and said "I am sorry uncle; it's been 6 years I haven't talked about this not even to myself." Taani's voice was a bare whisper but his father was determined. One can't blame him, Rey was his only son and his wife took a promise from him to take care of her son. He couldn't let anyone marry Rey despite of seeing the true love in their eyes. He needed to know all this to comfort his heart and have an assurance that this alliance will bring happiness in his son's life. Rey's dad smiled warmly at Taani as he continued "I understand dear, but you should see where I am coming from too. I need to know all this and instead of later why not get over with it now?" Rey clinched his fist at his father's words. "Dad not now" he gritted out as he slowly stood up glaring at his father for his stubbornness. His father stood up too meeting his son's gaze dead on. You could feel the environment change as the air got dense with tension. Taani stood up too glancing nervously from Rey to his dad. "Umm... Rey?" Taani called out her voice below a whisper. But Rey ignored her as he glared at his father challenging him to push it any further. His father crossed his arms showing who the father is in the room. Taani gulped looked nervously from one man to another. Damn this is going down the drain. Oh God, Help! She prayed as she held her breath for the next unfavorable events to take place.

*Phew finally finished the damn chap (wiping sweat)*

Long time no see 😆 all my lovely readers I AM SORRY and THANK YOU for patiently waiting for the update. Senior year is hectic no matter how much I tried wasn't able to finish one update. Finally somehow after more than a month I am able to finish the chap.

I hope you guys liked it. I think in the update after the following one you will get Taani's past. So be patient and stick with me for a little bit long as this story is coming to its end.
