The Indian television industry is a huge industry. Many people manage to make a mark of their own, many aren't but some are those who become a memorable part of it. They become a part of the definition of this industry. One such name is Mr. Shivaji Satam.

Shivaji Satam most popularly known as ACP Pradyuman, thanks to his role in the popular show CID is a veteran and an extremely talented artist this industry has got. This actor who entered the industry in the early 90's went on to become one of the most popular faces of it.

Be it as ACP Pradyuman in CID or his various roles in many movies, Shivaji Satam is known for the ease with which he performs such a variety of shows.

In this world infested with strife, jealousy and envy

We stand here, fighting the wars and living in jiffy

Deception is the trend and enmity is the cause

The land is no more as it earlier was

To live in peace, a nightmare it has become

The fear, we live, trying to overcome

Sometimes alone we stand, trying to shut off

Which ends in our heart being ripped into half

Mortal struggles soar as the seconds pass by

Everyone but can only question a pitiful ''why?''

When we need someone to shoulder our grief

You are always there to provide us relief

When, in our path to goals, we seem lost

You, as a leader are there to guide us at all cost

When in our road to success we wrong

You correct us, making your words firm and strong

When the life in us, drains away

You hold us in your arms, taking all the pain away

When we need a hand of a friend to hold

You do it instantly without being told

Sir you are our guiding light across 7 seas

We know your patriotism shall never cease

You teach us to live through the darkest hours of life

To tide over every defeat and the storms of life

Be it as our ACP sir or Satam sir, to us you mean the same

Separating the two would be nothing short of lame

Your role in our lives is not just one

A father, a leader, a guide - Satam sir is all in one!!!

Words Fall short when it comes to giving an introduction about this artist. With such a huge variety in the roles he performed one can just go on admiring his spirit and talent.

Shivaji Satam, born on 21st April 1950 belongs to a Marathi Brahmin Family.
He did his degree in chemistry and then took up a banking job.
After some years he decided to work on what was his passion - Acting.

Shivaji Satam had and still has a love for theater. After being a part of stage for many years he entered the television industry with Rishtey Naate in 1980. After this he appeared in Famous Trials of India in 1988. His role in the Marathi play Ek Shunya Shunya brought him a lot of success.He further went on to be a part of movies like Vaastav, Kurukshetra, English August etc. but rose to fame with his role as ACP Pradyuman in the weekly show CID.

His role as ACP Pradyuman is a favourite amongst his fans. His twisting of fingers, raising of eyebrows and dialogues like "tumhe toh ab phaasi hogi", "kuch toh gadbad hai " "hey bhagwan" have become a part of many CIDians' Language.

Built of lil sterner stuff within
Mind working as sharp as that of Einstein
Effectively and well enough, he leads them
Sure enough he loves them
As a father, a friend and a mentor
ACP Pradyuman, truly is a ceaseless crusader!

Coupled with the sharp senses and acuity
Is a disguise sense of him coming always with ingenuity
Though sometimes simple, yet enough
For certain criminals to drive them off
As a dad, as a conductor and much more
Such an amazing man, all of us adore

Where life begins and love never ends
Where blessings from above always descends
He too had a family, our ACP Pradyuman
With a caring wife and a young good son
Yet, what ruled him was his love for nation
That he shot and sacrificed his very son in the situation!

As he crumbled within, in his grief
Two young men stepped in to provide him relief
Understanding immeasurable and live beyond the seas
Any scratch on them made him freeze
Pradyuman-Abhijeet-Daya,our trio we so much love
Theirs is truly blessed by the one above!!

Nok-jhoks , fights and arguments so heated
Sometimes went on and on, unabated
Yet something untied them in all it's way
Pradyuman with a man called Salunkhe
Colleagues by profession and friends by heart
No force on earth can drift them apart!

A C P P R A D Y U M A N is the pillar of CID from past 17 years. He entered in the very first episode named Kissa Zehar Ka [21st January 1998] as Inspector Shrikant. After 2 episodes, he got a promotion & became ACP. DCP Dipankar ordered him to select a few best officers to make a special team aka CID. It's not cleared to fans that whether Shrikant renamed as Pradyuman or both are part of his name & surname. In the episode of Case of Thief Within (1998), we saw his family - wife & his son named RAJEEV. In 2000, ACP Pradyuman was going through the first tough time of his career when he lost his eyesight in the end of an episode named Case of Hijacked Car. But he fought with situation & never gave up. In spite of being blind, he solved 4 cases. Case of Impossible Murder is one the episodes among these 4 episodes, which is always remembered by the fans. No one can forget the dialogues of ACP Pradyuman & Dr Salunkhe, where ACP Pradyuman said - "Dr Salunkhe ek andhe ACP se haar gaya", who later replied - "Koi baat nehin sir iss haar mein vi ek maja hei". It shows what an efficient officer he is! Thankfully he got a donor, and returned back to CID after getting eyesight in the episode of Case of Unknown Body (2000). He is portrayed as an honest, dedicated, intelligent and loyal person who puts duty as his first priority. No one can forget how he shot his own son, NAKUL, who turned against the law during the Face Off series. Here again fans became confused with data about who is Nakul because ACP Pradyuman had 1 son named Rajeev. Does it mean that he had two sons but it never showed in CID till date? Nonetheless, we'll call it a huge blunder from the creative team of CID. There is another confusion regarding his wife, whether she is alive or not as she is not shown after 2000. Anyway all these facts never hamper the character of ACP Pradyuman. He usually abides rules, but can go to any extent for protecting the innocent and getting justice for them. He resigned from his job during Grahan Series [2012-13] to save girls from human trafficking racket. He leads a team of efficient officers, from whom he expects perfection and dedication. In the beginning his character was calm, composed and a bit jovial when required, but still within the boundaries of ACP. Later, he was shown to be more aggressive towards accused, especially when the accused is one of his own team members. But, along with his anger, his team enjoys his subtle love and affection. He shares a fatherly relation with his team, especially Abhijeet & Daya, who always stand for him when rest of the world go against him. In turn, ACP Pradyuman loves them like his own sons. He's a living example of dedication, decorum and humanity.

Thanking you Shivaji Sir for portraying ACP Pradyuman's role to such perfection that the character exists for us not only in fiction but in our lives as us, because it's we who will follow ACP Pradyuman's principles today and always.

No matter what happens to the show from now it can't take away what you have given us during the last 18 years. I keep hoping that things improve and we feel the same thrill and enthu as we used to a few years back. Hope the channel sees what you are worth and lets you do what befits you and challenges you as an actor. I hope we are able to send such messages to you the next year and for many more years.
