Mithilesh Thakur : why is he so confused and confusing others?

First of all, i will clear one point. This post is completely about the character of Mithilesh Thakur and the way writers have written it. Nothing to do with actor Darshan Dave. He is my favorite among the lot. He is the one who makes this character worth noticing. The attitude and look that Darshan has given to this character is brilliant.

Now the main point of this post: Mithilesh Thakur

At first he was portrayed as a typical Thakur boy, going to be next king of Begu sarai. A loving husband and a doting father. I loved a scene few episodes back when he was playing with his kids and Maya looking at them with love thanking god for the blissful life.

He has his flaws. Being from an influential family he believed he can buy anything with Saam-Daam-Dand-Bhed.

He lacks the empathy that his father has. A simple comparison of situations: Phoolan Thakur made Lakhan apologize to the couple whom Lakhan had abused and snatched earrings from the lady, whereas Mithilesh clearly told the father of a guy whom Lakhan had beaten up, that Lakhan will not apologize to them.

He easily falls for the lust but at the same time he knows how to maintain his dignity. He did sleep with Bindiya and gave her money. This cannot be justified but still he didnt allow her to penetrate in his family.

But now what has been happening to this character?

Why is he so confused and confusing me? He is egoistic and doesnt care about anybody, but then he keeps on contradicting himself with his ego.

Where does this hate for Lakhan has started?

First he slapped and abused both Lakhan and Priyom for bringing Poonam to that party.

Then he went on abusing Rekha when she went to fix Poonam - Lakhan marriage accusing her of being greedy. There it looked like he cares for Poonamand her family.

But then suddenly he started supporting Bindiya against Poonam. Even after knowing the truth that it was Bindiya who dared to point fingers at Thakur family and their would be daughter-in-law, he lied to everyone that he has promised Bindiya to keep her in town till Poonam-Lakhan's marriage.

Now why he doesnt care about Poonam?

Why this sudden change?

He is definitely a strong player in the game and one mistake from him can change a lot of equations. He needs to play very carefully as he needs to realize that he is not playing against bail-buddhi Lakhan. The real player is Rekha.

I don't think he is confused at all. I rather feel that he knows what he is doing. He is as good as his father, when it comes to handling their business. And he is definitely a doting father and loving husband.

But that does not make him completely perfect, does it. Firstly, he is absolutely confident that he has the support of his father. 2ndly, he is also completely sure, that he will be taking over the reigns from his father. All this gives a boost to his ego and also that is why he has attitude.

He is also someone who uses his brains more and heart less. He thinks what he does is right for the family, his decision, on the basis of his intelligence and not compassion is correct.

And sometimes he is correct. In two situations involving Poonam, where Lakhan called her to daru party, and where Rekha acted on her own to get Poonam and Lakhan married as fast as possible, his decision was correct.

This time it is not his head, its his ego talking. Lakhan misbehaved with him before all and sundry and refused to listen to him. Its his ego stopping Bindiya, to put down Lakhan, to teach him not to raise his voice before his older brother.

But Lakhan is also not retreating, he is also not listening to anyone, as it is also ego for him. A battle ends, when one is willing to compromise. But here both parties are not interested in a truce, and hell bent on displaying their power and proving that they are right.

i dont find his character confused anytime. This character has brain and also he use his brain at right time but his intention are not right sometime.. he has ego of his position that he was eldest brother, future king, handle busness perfectly and thinking he is most valued in phoolan'eyes...
In starting, he is caring husband, father brother in front of everyone as he wants to show phoolan that he can handle family also very well to make sure he will be perfect king..
remember hus convo with laakhan after ragging incident : he said what you want to prove laakhan that i dont care for my brothers, am i not capable of this chair..

But in bindiya case: laakhan hit him unintentionally and than mithilesh accidently said bindiya will not go and laakhan directly said you are not king bhaiya.. it hurts mithilesh..than their fight and mithilesh ego badly hurt that anyone can point finger on him..he wants to show laakhan that hez king and that why he lied to phoolan..

Do you notice when maya question him..he first time admit..hone wale raja s baat kr rhi.ho..he never use that line but he used these lines after laakhan question his position..its his ego and precap.also depicting it..he cant handle that laakhan wanna show mithu low ..he is challanging mithilesh and mithu ego.cant digest it...

Mithilesh is quite intelligent and that too in a very shrewd manner. As the Senior Thakur brothers themselves admit, he executes his responsibility very well as far as family business is concerned. He can correctly read people as he did w.r.t. his Chaachi.

His problem is that he blindly imagines, rather believes, that by the virtue of being the eldest in the next generation, it's his birth right to become the next king of Begusarai !!! So he behaves (read tries to dominate every one) accordingly. This wrong impression (His father and uncle might have been responsible for this) has given rise to his big fat ego, his arrogance and his stubbornness. Till now, he has never considered Priyom or Rajkumar as threats to his monopoly to the throne, as they are totally engrossed in their own respective worlds. But Lakhan, who as well aspires for the throne and his elder cousin is very well aware of this fact, is being considered by Mithilesh as a definitive threat. Lakhan is equally egoistic, arrogant, stubborn, short-tempered, confident and courageous as Mithilesh. So, Mithilesh just wants to extinguish the fire before it becomes a wild-fire by consistently reprimanding Lakhan; thereby trying to destroy his aspirations, courage, confidence and perseverance by hook or crook !!! The latest incident is simply an ego-war between these two egoistic fools, where neither is ready to compromise (read bow down).

As he already considers himself a Raja, even before his actual coronation, he imagines that he does have the right to do anything with anybody. I was having the impression, before this latest fiasco, that even if he is having a tiff with any family member he would always project an united family in front of the outsiders. But unfortunately, he can do anything and can go till any extreme, once his ego gets hurt.

And regarding his character, the less said the better. He simply does not respect women. Hope the creatives portray Maya someday standing up and leaving him for good with the children to have a better life with someone else.

Regarding the portrayal, it's simply "Wow" 👏 !!! A negative character having such a great persona and screen-presence is absolutely praise-worthy !!!

Oops... yes... i did miss a very big incident 😳

Thanks for the reminder.

When Lakhan had pointed his gun on Bindiya, Mithilesh tried to stop him from behind and Lakhan pushed him muttering some abuses.

That was the trigger.

But i guess he is going too far with this. He is behaving like a maniac.

Even i had started to think on these lines ... Mithilesh does think of Lakhan as a competition 😳

He never had to bother about Priyom or Rajkumar.

And somehow i have a feeling that in this fight between these two egoistic fools as u said, Priyom might win the throne 😉

He is an underdog ... as of now a lot is to be revealed about him ... 😉

About what u said regarding Maya leaving Mithilesh ... that seems impossible

But this reminded me of something else... in one of the episodes, Mithilesh while scolding Priyom mentioned that they are step brothers.

Mithilesh is the only child of Phoolan Thakur from his mother and later he had 3 kids from his second wife. Priyom told Bindiya that his mother is dead.

It sounds impossible that Phoolan Thakur's both wives are dead.

There is a possibility that his mother left Phoolan Thakur opposing his criminal lifestyle and Phoolan and Badi Dadi didnt let her take Mithilesh with her. (Somebody write an FF on this 😉)

So now if Maya tries to leave him, she might have to part with kids also. Thakurs will never let her take the kids with her.

Mithilesh and Priyom are step-brothers ???!!!! I've missed this truth !!! Creatives have really thought upon all the ingredients to force this bro-bro relationship a total mess in future 😒 !!!!

Yes, the situation reminds me of that story (from Aesop's fables or Hitopadesh, I suppose), in which the monkey (obviously Priyom) takes away the fruit (the throne of Begusarai) happily while the giraffe (Lakhan, as he has got no working grey cell but a towering figure) and the elephant (Mithilesh, as he used to have a lot of working grey cells until recently) continue to quarrel regarding who gets the fruit !!!

In the episode where there was some fight and Mithilesh orders his men to break that post man guy's cycle and later Priyom gives his bike to that guy.

Mithilesh said something like "Lagta hai humari sirf Maa hi nahi Papa bhi alag hain"
