Detective Byomkesh Bakshy fell badly on Monday. The film had to gross over 2 crore nett at least on Monday to have some sirt of respectable final total but has no chance now. The approx first four day business of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy is as follows.

Friday - 4,25,00,000

Saturday - 4,50,00,000

Sunday - 5,50,00,000

Monday - 1,50,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 15,75,00,000

The film will probably close the week out out at around 19 crore nett and will not make much thereafter and may not even reach the 23 crore nett business of Shanghai.

I thought it would be a blockbuster seeing the buzz around it. Hmm..

That's surprising. I liked the movie. The plot was interesting and Sushant has acted fabulously. The last quarter might have been a little slow and unnecessarily stretched out and I did find the ending quite violent and gruesome but over all it was a good experience.
I guess the genre of the film has worked against it plus maybe people are comparing it to Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie adaptations or something.

I think it's more to do with FF7 than anything else. If DBB had had an open week 1, it would've easily added another 6-10 crore to its total.

Can't hold FF7 for the crash as every movie has to survive with competition to excel. Earlier in the year there were brilliant Hollywood movies ..each one vying for the Oscar and most were nominated ..but in spite of that a few were accepted by a larger audience than what DBB has been able to attract.

A pity as Boymkesh is an iconic charatcer and Dibakar a brilliant film maker.

DB was simply too over confident...acting as if it was an epic film already. Let the janta decide.
