Episode 9: Start of a New Mission
"SANAYA!" Roshan screamed from the living room. Sanaya rushed from the kitchen to the living room upon hearing Roshan's scream. "What is it, Roshan?!" Sanaya asked, concerned.
"WHY ARE THERE THREE VASES OF LILLIES ON THE TABLE?!"
"What?"
"YOU PUT THREE OF THEM! TAKE AWAY ONE! ITS UNEVEN!"
"Not this again!"
"I CAN'T EVEN LOOK AT IT!"
Roshan turned around, covering his eyes. "Hurry up and take it away!" Roshan cried. Sanaya rolled her eyes as she then took away one of the vases, taking it into the kitchen. She then came back into the living room, seeing Roshan, who was still covering his eyes. "Is it safe?!" Roshan asked.
"Its gone now." Sanaya shook her head. Roshan turned around, relieved to see only two vases of lillies on the table. "Perfect! Just perfect!" Roshan exclaimed. "Now, let's go have some of that pani puri you've been making!"
Roshan and Sanaya went to the kitchen. And when Sanaya was just getting ready to serve the pani puri she made, Roshan saw the other vase of lillies in the kitchen. He gasped, "SANAYA! ITS STILL HERE! EITHER GET ANOTHER VASE OR TAKE IT OUT! I CAN'T LOOK AT JUST ONE! ITS UNEVEN! ITS-"
Before Roshan could complain any further, Sanaya smacked Roshan in the back of his head, knocking him out to the floor in frustration. "Well then! At least I pick up something useful from Chaya," Sanaya said. "That should shut him up for a bit."
Just then, the land phone in the kitchen started ringing. Sanaya went to go get it and she answered, "Hello?"
"Roshan! Its your father speaking!" Mr. Roy spoke. Sanaya gasped and immediately hung up, putting the phone down.
At the Cloud Technologies Software Building, Sagar was working in his office on the third floor. He was going through some documents for over an hour even passed lunch hour. That was when he got a call from his office phone. He answered it saying, "Hello?"
"Hello, Sagar."
"Hi Greta. What is it?"
"There's a lady here asking for you at the front desk."
"You mean on the ground floor? For me?"
"Yes. Come down now."
"All right, I'm coming."
Sagar left his office and went into the elevator, going down to the first floor of the building. He then went up to Greta, the receptionist at the front desk. "Where is the lady who needed to see me?" Sagar asked Greta. Greta smiled, pointing to the waiting area. Sagar turned and was surprised to see Bhoomi there, who waved to him. Sagar went towards Bhoomi, while Greta said, "How cute. She must be his girlfriend."
"Bhoomi, what are you doing here?" Sagar asked Bhoomi as he came up to her while she stood up. Bhoomi then took out a small container from her handbag and opened it, revealing it to be gobi parathas with a side of chutney. "I brought you lunch." Bhoomi replied.
"Wait...how did you know that I forgot my lunch today?"
"Krish told me. He called you this morning, remember?"
"That idiot! You really didn't need to!"
"Come on, Sagar. I took time out of work to make this for you. I know its your favorite."
"It is...thanks."
Bhoomi smiled as Sagar took the container from her. "You want to go to the canteen?" Sagar asked Bhoomi.
"Me? Why?"
"We can eat there."
"Me? Eat with you?"
"I mean...you know...you already have come here. You might as well eat here as well."
"Oh...I see."
"Shall we?"
"Sure."
Bhoomi followed Sagar, nodding her head. But as the two walked down in the hall, they stopped as they saw a bright glow coming from within the janitor's closet. The two then opened the closet, seeing a portal was inside. "Right when I'm about to eat," Sagar sighed. "It must be important." Sagar and Bhoomi went into the portal and were then transported to the chamber of Master Suri's tower. Inside the tower, Roshan, Sanaya, Krish, and Chaya had come as well. Master Suri turned to the six of them and said, "Have you all had a nice day?"
"Well I had to whack this boy in the head." Sanaya said, pointing to Roshan.
"AND NOW THERE'S ONE BUMP ON MY HEAD! ONE!" Roshan cried. "An odd number!"
"I can give you another one." Chaya volunteered.
"Save the violence for later," Sagar said. "Why did you call us here?"
"Do you all remember Vardhan?" Master Suri asked.
"The weapon guy! He almost killed Bhoomi!" Krish exclaimed.
"I don't want to be reminded of that." said Sagar.
"What about him, Master Suri?" Bhoomi asked.
"Vardhan has been found to be in London. And I have discovered that he has another three shards in possession at this moment."
"How did he get more?!" Chaya asked. "We took two from him last time."
"You will have to find that out yourselves," Master Suri stated. "He's going to be at a special ball at the Diamond Gates Mansion just near the Indian embassy."
"What's he doing there?" Sanaya asked.
"What you don't know about Vardhan...he has high class friends around the world thanks to his father, who happened to be a very rich man," Master Suri explained. "I want the six of you to attend the ball, find out why he's really there, and try your best to get those shards."
"Cool! We get to go to London!" Krish exclaimed.
"No monkeying around over there," Sagar told Krish. "We're there for a mission. When do we go?"
"You can all go now." Master Suri said.
And so, later on, the Spectrum had arrived to London through a portal that Master Suri had sent them through. And it was in this lovely city where the Spectrum were prepared to come to the grand ball that was being hosted in the Diamond Gates Mansion. They all went to a hotel where they got ready for the big party. While Sagar, Krish, and Roshan wore fancy suits, Bhoomi, Chaya, and Sanaya all got dressed up in fancy gowns. The group then headed their separate ways in their partnerships, going into the hall for the evening.
Many guests had arrived to the ball and while most people were conversing among themselves, dancing began in the ballroom. And our three sets of partners were making their mark on the dance floor as well.
On one hand, there was Roshan and Sanaya,whose ballroom dance was a bit more energetic than expected. It seemed that Sanaya didn't understand the meaning of slow dance, as she was spinning Roshan around on the dance floor like a spinning top. "WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING?!" Roshan shouted as Sanaya continued to spin Roshan faster and faster. "THIS IS NOT BALLROOM DANCING!"
"Really?!" Sanaya asked. "This is how we dance on Ekat!"
On the other hand, Krish looked aside, seeing Roshan and Sanaya dancing as he danced hand in hand with Chaya, who was looking bored. "Sanaya sure knows how to party!" Krish exclaimed.
"What are you talking about?! He looks like he's going to throw up any moment now."
"Hey, she could spin me around like that anytime!"
Annoyed, Chaya stepped on Krish's foot, crushing the heel of her purple colored strapped heels onto his dress shoes. Krish screamed as he held his foot, "What was that for?!"
"That was for being you." Chaya said, irritated.
And then there was Sagar and Bhoomi, who were standing still. "This is awkward," Sagar said. "Everyone's dancing except us."
"Well I can't."
"Why?"
"I don't do dance. I mean...ballroom dancing."
"Well then...I guess I have to be in charge then."
"What?!"
Sagar immediately grabbed hold of Bhoomi's hand and then pulled her towards him by her waist, making her throw her other arm onto his shoulder. She started to blush, seeing how close they were. "Just follow my lead so we look like we're doing something." Sagar told Bhoomi. And so, the two commenced dancing. Bhoomi followed Sagar's lead as the two calmly danced along on the dance floor.
As they continued to dance, Sagar looked ahead to see Vardhan walking from a corner of the ballroom, down into a hallway. "I just saw Vardhan!" Sagar exclaimed as he stopped dancing and looked ahead. "He went that way."
While Sagar went down to go after Vardhan, Bhoomi turned to the others, signaling them to come. The whole group then went down into the hall where Vardhan was going. Once they followed him further down, they got into a dead end where Vardhan stood before them. "Oh look what we have here," Vardhan cackled. "The Spectrum comes to see me here in London. Interesting."
"Shut up!" Krish told Vardhan. "We know you have the three prism shards! Now hand them over before we bust your weapon arms in half!"
"Oh! That's what you came looking for!" Vardhan said. "Well then...it seems you've come at a bad time."
"What are you talking about?!" Sagar asked.
"Those shards aren't with me anymore. In fact...I've kept them with some fellow comrads of mine," Vardhan said. "Now its up to you all...to see if you can go find them."
And with that, Vardhan had disappeared in a puff of black smoke, leaving the others in shock. "What the heck was that?!" Bhoomi asked.
"You mean we came to this ball for nothing?!" Krish cried. Suddenly a portal formed within the end of the hall. "He better have a good explanation for this." Chaya said, frustrated. And so, the Spectrum entered into the portal.
"I'm sorry. I only found out now," Master Suri told the Spectrum once they had come back to his chamber. "Vardhan has disposed the three shards into three different locations."
"But why?!" Sanaya asked.
"He's a meticulous man. He does things so swiftly that no one knows his judgements in anything," Master Suri explained. "But here's what we'll do. I'll send each of you into one of these locations to retrieve a shard. This will be your new mission from tomorrow."
"Sounds like a plan." Krish said.
"So can we go home now then?" Chaya asked.
"You may." Master Suri allowed.
Back in Mumbai when the Spectrum had returned, Roshan and Sanaya were walking back to Roshan's house. "I wonder where Suri saab will send us." Sanaya said.
"I don't care as long as I see nothing odd there!"
"That will be difficult."
"What are you saying?!"
"You see oddness in everything!"
"No I don't! I-"
"What?!"
Roshan and Sanaya turned around, and were stunned as they saw Mr. Roy standing before the front door of Roshan's house, looking at the two as they came back together. "Roshan! You have some explaining to do!" Mr. Roy told Roshan sternly.
"What did I do?!" Roshan asked, acting innocent.
Oh no! This could be about the phone call this morning! I was the one that answered after all! Sanaya thought to herself. So now he'll know...that I'm staying here with Roshan!
