Chapter 46 - LAST CHAPTER

Sanyukta continued to go to work with Randhir. A few months passed and the divorce legally passed. Another few months passed too, and neither Randhir nor Sanyukta brought up the topic of marriage. Marriage would only be a legal thing for society, and they were perfectly happy with being how they were right now.

But soon the office began to notice that Randhir and Sanyukta came to work together, and they found out that they lived together. Neither of them believed that anyone needed to know about their relationship, but for formality sake, Randhir proposed marriage to her.

"What's the need?" she asked him, raising her eyebrows when he asked her to marry him that night in bed.

"There is no need," he admitted. "We can stay this way without marriage too, but if you marry me, then there will be less to deal with."

She smiled at him.

"You know, before I married Sameer, I would always dream of marriage," she told him truthfully. "I always saw you as my groom."

"Really?" he asked her with a smile.

"Yes," she admitted, resting her head on his chest. "Now marriage doesn't seem as important... maybe because I've already lived through one."

"No it's because you don't think like the general society does anymore," he told her proudly.

"Is that a good thing?" she asked.

"You tell me," he responded, kissing her forehead.

"It is a good thing," she told him, closing her eyes and sighing happily.

"Mhmm," he said and held her body close. "You know I'm so proud of you. You've come so far."

She closed her eyes and smiled.

"It's only because of you," she said gratefully.

"So what do you think about marriage?" he asked her, returning to the original topic.

"Of course I'll marry you," she told him softly.

"Ready to be Mrs. Sanyukta Shekhawat?" he teased.

"No," she responded, "I'm ready to be Randhir Singh Shekhawat."

"Oh really?" he asked her, raising his eyebrows. "That's a big thought."

"We are one," she told him in response.

"I know," he said and kissed the top of her head again. "I love you so much."

"I know you do," she said. "I love you too."

"I know," he responded back.

Sanyukta looked up at him and smiled.

"If you ever run into trouble or anything," she said to him, "Or no matter what you do... any step you take, even if it's the wrong one, I promise I'll stand by you."

"Once again, big thought," he teased.

"Well you've stood by me for so long," she said defensively, "And I know you will stand by me no matter what I do or where I go... even if it means away from you. Even if I hurt you, I know you'll stand by me."

"And if I don't?" he asked her softly.

"I can't think like that," she responded to him. "Because even if you appear far from me, I know that you are standing by me more than ever."

"Wow, what faith in me," he teased. "Are you sure? Too much faith can be bad."

"I'm positive," she told him softly. "And I promise you, whether you need me or not, I'm beside you every step of the way. I'll stand by you, and I mean it."

He kissed her forehead softly.

"I know you will," he said to her.

"You have the same amount of faith in me?" she asked him.

"I have more faith in you missy," he said lightly.

She blushed and hugged him more tightly.

"Oh I love you," she responded.

"And I'm here just to love you," he replied and closed his eyes, as her eyes filled up with tears.

She vowed to stand by him as long as she was able to, no matter what circumstance arose. Her faith and love for him would hold strong, she would make sure of that... and she wouldn't let her mind bully her anymore, especially not in this matter.

I'll stand by you Randhir, she said in her head.

And she could have sworn she heard a faint

I've stood by you, and I always will.

awesome ending...love is truly based on trust and support you have for each other...and in this case they had plenty...so one of the best stories i ever read...
